Billy also did the theme song to Romancing the Stone’s sequel, The Jewel of the Nile. The song is “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” The video is especially great because it has all the stars in it, playing background dancers, including Danny!😉💎

I liked Billy. But I think some of his success had to do with the fact the he sounded exactly like "JEFFERY OSBORNE" from" LTD" . Billy charted earlier I believe, but LTD, featuring Jeffrey Osborne, charted higher and more consistently, until Billy's "Caribbean Queen" hit the airwaves.
Everyone I knew thought it was Jeffery Osborne singing "Caribbean Queen."

Billy Ocean lives in Berkshire England and my daughter works in H&M and he has come in a few times with his granddaughter. I'm a big 80's fan and my daughter was 21 when she first served him, that was nearly 4yrs ago, and they have been in few times since. She recognised him straight away. Pls react to Suddenly by Billy Ocean, I had my first ever kiss dancing to this song when I was 14.
Billy had a great song in the 70's, Love Really Hurts Without You. Also the song Loverboy is a great jam.

He was born in Trinidad, he moved with his Parents to the U.K. when he was 10 years old he lived in the East part of London, bet that surprised yall, huh.

I reallllllly hope you do "Loverboy" next. It's much more up-tempo than the two you've heard, and the video is KWAZY (like something out of Star Wars)! You could also do "Suddenly" (a tender ballad), "There'll be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)" (another ballad), or "When the Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going". Fun facts - Born Les Charles in Trinidad & Tobago, Billy was once a tailor working on Savile Row in London! Finally... that's two Billys in one day... are they gonna go for the trio? Idol? Preston? I was a radio girl growing up, so some songs just got me like PISSED lol they were so overplayed, and at that age I was a little snobby too lmao, all "top 40? Like omg, gross!" (me in alllll black haha)

@@ymichele40 normally, yes. However, she just passed away a couple of days ago at 90 years old. Her first hit was in 1960. She is a legend, and has been an inspiration to all female country artists since. When it comes to legendary icons, I would hope that you don’t wait until “Female Friday” to honor her an pay your respects, as though it’s just another Friday. This special woman has been in the business for more than 60 years. This channel hasn’t even mentioned condolences in passing. I truly hope they don’t just play one song in her memory on top of that.

When I was still a Taxi Driver, I had a PA system. And when I'd pull up (for a "Sorority Girl" pickup) I'd put on that opening bit over the PA.

I watched (on tv) one of his live performances from a couple years ago, it was the 80s rewind festival. He was a trip, a little slower than he was here, about 60-70 pounds heavier with long grey dreadlocks, but he had a great energy, really seemed to enjoy performing and making the crowd happy.

Check out a couple of other songs by Billy: "Love Zone" & "Night (Feel Like Gettin' Down)". Billy was also in a band in the 1970s called Scorched Earth. They released a few singles. but I don't think they have any albums. Y'all might want to listen to James Ingram, Johnnie Taylor, Teddy Pendergrass, Peabo Bryson, O'Bryan, & L.T.D./Jeffrey Osborne.

I'll always remember this as his biggest hit. Though, the chart history also shows that "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going" also ranks up there with this one. It's from the movie "Romancing The Stone."
Speaking of which, Eddy Grant wrote what I think was the theme song for that movie. It went by the same title, "Romancing The Stone." I remember hearing it on the radio. It was fairly popular, too.
