And those who worked with him revealed that he was always vocal about his admiration for Prince and how much he enjoyed and loved the latter’s 1984 semi-autobiographical film Purple Rain. For your Prince collection: The Most Beautiful Girl In the World. Not really talked about, a slower one, but it's so sweet, and the lyrics are so impactful. Plus his complete vocal range, including the Prince "keen", is on display, and it will blow your mind. Prince...you just can't go wrong with him.

Prince was so damn good at everything that his vocals are often forgotten. But his phrasing is one of the best ever, in my opinion. So musical, and so much fun. This was the album after Purple Rain. He frustrated his label and managers when he cut the Purple Rain tour short to get on with the next album. He had also started taking serious cues from Revolution band mates Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman. They turned him on to a lot of 60s music, which resulted in this album - his psychedelic album. It was a commercial disappointment after the monster success of Purple Rain, but Prince was happy to just go to the next chapter of his career.
Losing Prince and MJ was a tremendous loss to the music world . Please give a listen to a song from his second album called “Lonely “ There’s no video, but it’s an amazing ballad.
Ah, someone who can go waaay back. “Without you lovin me it’s gonna be lonely.” There are so many pre Purple Rain songs that are never mentioned. “Why you want to treat me so bad, “ “Uptown,” “Sexy dancer.” “Private Joy,” “ Lady Cab Driver, “ etc.
If you want to hear Prince‘s range from baritone to falsetto you have to check out most” beautiful girl in the world” the last 45 seconds of the song is incredible and if you want to hear that screech that prince has check out the video from purple rain “the beautiful ones”
We all lost so much when Prince passed. Amber, your groove reaction is the absolute reenactment of how this song makes me feel. Prince music just sends me into another realm. He extends his hand inviting us into ecstasy knowing we cannot resist! RIP Sweet Prince!
an EARLY Prince song to check out is "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" Also, check out "Kiss" and "7" and "You Got the Look" and "Housequake"
I love Prince and he was pure genius! I love the sweet storyline of this song…very nostalgic! Prince had a lot of songs with Double entendre! We loved him for this but he also had his socially conscious songs, check out, Pop Life and Sign of the Times! ❤️❤️
Prince did the solo for While My Guitar Gently Weeps at a tribute to George Harrison. On the stage were Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan, and he outshone them all. If you enjoy good guitar work, find it here on RUclips and listen to it.
Something has always bothered me about that piece. That was an event honoring George Harrison, and Prince made it all about himself; play the song and move on. To me a better way to do it was Geddy Lee (Rush) did for Yes’s induction; the way Geddy played for Chris Squire (RIP) on ‘Roundabout.’ Geddy just stood in the background and played the part, and let the band have their night.
I think everyone should see that performance. if you didn't know PRINCE was a master of guitar, you did after this! and the way the others just stepped back and gave the stage to the maestro to pay homage to GEORGE HARRISON! even they were in awe of him! and . . . where's the guitar? 😊 👍😃❣️😃👍🥰❤️🥰
@@blairphifer1554 I agree. *A lot* of people were turned off by that performance. He absolutely *did* make it all about himself. It was a tribute to George Harrison, not himself. Dhani Harrison was not impressed. I saw him being interviewed and I believe he said the performance was very self gratuitous.
@@frauleinmona absolutely. Had it been anywhere else, it would have been spectacular; just not that night. I also don’t think Prince or his fans would have wanted someone to do that for a show about him.
@@blairphifer1554 You are correct. And I thought the same thing you mentioned. If it were the other around, and legendary guitar players were present to pay tribute to *him* , I don't think he or anybody else would have appreciated for that musician to go off on an ego trip. Then again, Prince was never known for being humble. LOL
I've always said we're gonna find out one day that Prince was from another galaxy. His talent was ridiculous. Love the strings incorporated into this...little touch of Baroque, something that we didn't have much of in 1985 when it came out. Great memories of the summer after 8th grade.
I am really impressed to see some of the Prince requests in comments. Not the typical songs done for reaction. I agree you should try 'Baby I'm a Star', or You got the look by Prince next. He has such an impressive catalogue it can be a bit mind melting. Great reaction!!! 🤗
There's a cool Prince song on the 1985 We Are the World album: "4 The Tears In Your Eyes." An acoustic version was recorded later but on the WATW lp, it sounds like a Purple Rain outtake.
👍 Thank you for my absolute favorite Prince song!! This video has everything: starts off funky, then the synchronized dance moves start; Prince really "sells" the song with his eyes. body language and then he hits you with a killer, "ear worm" hook in the chorus. It's a masterpiece!! I know he's feeling the love on the other side and he knows how much we miss him ❤
Jay/Amber, you guys really need to react to U Got The Look. It’s a great dance song from Prince and it’s a duet with the gorgeous Sheena Easton. The combo of their vocals and atmosphere is great. One of his best, thanks as usual. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is definitely my favorite song by Prince, and I am so glad to see you guys finally react to it (I was suggesting it for a while). My recommendation this time will be to reiterate another song I've been suggesting for quite a while. You guys need to react to "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" by Vicki Lawrence. I know how you two love songs that tell a story, and that one is great!
I read somewhere, Prince Rogers Nelson, the only guy at your party wearing ruffles and eyeliner who could steal your girl and wear her wardrobe, flawlessly. He was my favorite artist. May he be resting sweetly. ❤️
There is a live video here on RUclips of Prince performing at the American Music Awards in 1984 and he performed Purple Rain. It's so emotional and his guitar playing alone is worth watching! I would love to see your reaction to it! I cry each time I watch it because Prince will ALWAYS be my Forever Love! 💜💜
Reading the comments, while true, Prince has had enough hits to keep J and Amber busy for over a week.(Which I could say the same for Billy Joel !!😉), but my favorite Prince Song, that really hasn't been mentioned, for me. Is "Diamonds & Pearls".. this one is a CANT MISS !!
Within one second I'm back in my youth back in the 1980ies! The best time of my life, with the best music ever!!!!!!!! R.I.P. Prince - your music will never die!
Cannot tell you how important and special Prince was in my early years. His lyrics, his composition, his instrument skills, his band, his look, his vibe....damn!
I can't wait to see your reactions to "Kiss," "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man," and "If I Was Your Girlfriend." Also try to go back to his early days like "Controversy," "Uptown," and "I Wanna Be Your Lover." Gosh, there's still so much of his music for you to explore.
Prince was so singular, so authentic, so amazing...every song just radiates mastery of craft and musicianship. My favorite era was Prince with The Revolution and I always loved his guitarist Wendy Malvoin. She was one of those gfited guitarists who has just never gotten the props she deserved, but she was and is amazing. In my mind equal to a lot of the male guitarists of the same time period.
Man, what can anyone say that hasn’t been said before… Price was just a musical genius. Yet another hit that anyone my age knows every word to, like most all his music. 💜
This was the lead single from the "Around the World in a Day" album (1985), which was under enormous pressure, coming after the mega-hit "1999" (1983) and the "Purple Rain" film and soundtrack (1984). Even though it went to #1, and this song got to #2, it was considered a bit of a disappointment at the time; a bit dense and not as radio-friendly as his previous work. This caused Prince to abandon not one, but two albums that he tried to do in 1986, before ultimately releasing the "Under the Cherry Moon" film and the "Parade" album, which was mostly, but not entirely, a soundtrack. And then in 1987, he put the scraps together and made "Sign O' The Times", which was awesome. Still, the album holds up in retrospect, and of course this song is always fine. Glad you liked it. What next? Well, as I said, "Sign O' the Times" would be my choice, but you can hardly go wrong: "Controversy", "I Would Die 4 U", "U Got the Look", "Cream", "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", all classics Although my other choice would "Kiss", followed by Your Man, Tom Jones doing his (excellent) cover version. Keep 'em coming!
White Irish guy from Dublin Ireland. I can remember the very first time I listened to both Purple Rain album (1st) and shortly after 1999 (2nd). It absolutely changed my life.... I swear I can remember listening to even Around the World, and was so emotionally involved in something that I have never been to this very day, nearly 40 years later. I love Prince. Truly. He gave a young kid from Dublin Ireland a pathway to leave the gray of my life. And I had the most magical experiences. (meeting Prince in London '88, on MTV, etc... )
This album was the soundtrack of 8th grade for me. Was so psyched when it dropped - rushed out to the record store to get the vinyl and played it every day for like a month, LOL.
I do enjoy the reactions , and catching the lyrics , and grooving . So many emotions in one jam , with Prince, ALWAYS . Miss him everyday . Nice to see you kids enjoying his music . Thank You .
Please react to a song from Prince's first album that he released when he was only 19! "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Why you wanna treat me so bad" are fire!
Please react to some Prince that DIDN'T get top-40 radio station play! Try She's Always in my Hair; Erotic City; Thunder; Somebody's Somebody; I Love You in Me; Head; Black Sweat...pick 'em all...thank you...
What people don’t realize about Prince is he is one of the greatest guitarists of all times. He could hold his own and shred up their with Eddie Van Halen, Mick Mars, and Steve Stevens.
It amazing how most people don't mention black guitarists like Eddie Hazel of the Parliament Funkadelic, Ernie Isley, Chuck Berry or hispanic guitarist Carlos Santana.
There are no bad Prince songs, the investment he made into writing, producing, just lead to hit after hit after hit. For a change of pace how about trying the following “ Do Me Baby “, “ Scandalous” , International Lover” and lastly “ Adore”… I could name so many more. Enjoy
I think that sound he makes should be called the Prince Growl 💜 and the Prince Scream, both are amazing!! So happy when this came up tonight, there are SO many songs you should hear, or rehear in Ambers case - btw Amber, your parents sound like folks I would have loved hangin around with! Gotta love Prince. One of my favorites by him. Side note, the guy in white sitting by the drummer is Pat Smear from The Germs, Nirvana, and Foo Fighters.
I think I'd call what he does is his own personal primal scream in Prince's own way! I like how the music video was made with the drawings and illustrations mixed up with the music & the band in real time.
Freaking amazing artist! he was the whole package! Song writer, played every instrument, did an amazing solo of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” honoring George Harrison. A must watch!
I was a fan of Prince from the beginning! I was a teenager in the 80's and have 1999 and Purple Rain on original vinyl that I got as Christmas gifts the years each album came out. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to get to visit Paisley Park and tour the facility, studios, sound stage and club. It was an amazing experience that I will cherish the memory of! I love that people of your generation are showing interest and appreciation for all different types of music! You are too cute! You should watch his movies as well.
Isn't it amazing how music can transport u to an exact moment in your life like it was happening again! This is why music is the most important part form, it's the one that triggers memories and feelings the most!

If you want to hear Prince‘s range from baritone to falsetto you have to check out most” beautiful girl in the world” the last 45 seconds of the song is incredible and if you want to hear that screech that prince has check out the video from purple rain
“the beautiful ones”
Prince "The Beautiful Ones". ❤️
We all lost so much when Prince passed. Amber, your groove reaction is the absolute reenactment of how this song makes me feel. Prince music just sends me into another realm. He extends his hand inviting us into ecstasy knowing we cannot resist! RIP Sweet Prince!
Prince had several seductive slow cuts such as adore, international lover, and do me baby his falsetto on full display in those songs
Those are seriously in my top 7 songs of his. Prince sang sex in a way that nobody else could! 💜
Prince could slay on a ballad with that divine falsetto of his. And he wrote so many GREAT slow jams 🎶
an EARLY Prince song to check out is "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?"
Also, check out "Kiss" and "7" and "You Got the Look" and "Housequake"
Those 2 early songs are fantastic!!
Prince was a artist who only comes around once in awhile...He was incredibly deep, both lyrically and musically....a true visionary!!...
Beside Kiss my favourite Prince Song. And there are a lot good songs.
I was so sad when he passed away. He was such an exceptional artist.
I love Prince and he was pure genius! I love the sweet storyline of this song…very nostalgic! Prince had a lot of songs with Double entendre! We loved him for this but he also had his socially conscious songs, check out, Pop Life and Sign of the Times! ❤️❤️
Not the biggest Prince fan but this song is by far one of my favorite songs of all time. It just hits. Love it.
He recorded 38 studio albums and has countless live performances to check out.
Should start looking into Prince's 90s recordings
but wait there's more! check out all the artist "groups" he wrote songs for it is astonishing!
This song makes me think of summertime cruising around the lakes of Minneapolis, Harriet mostly. Good times
Yay! Finally more Prince💜 He checks every box and his talent is endless. Hope you do Kiss or Let's Go Crazy by Prince next.
This is one of my favorite Prince songs. It just makes me happy. I love watching his smile the entire video.
I am really impressed to see some of the Prince requests in comments. Not the typical songs done for reaction. I agree you should try 'Baby I'm a Star', or You got the look by Prince next. He has such an impressive catalogue it can be a bit mind melting. Great reaction!!! 🤗
There's a live version of Baby I'm a Star in which Prince pulls out all his dance moves!
Baby I'm a star ..what a fantastic song!
This is one of my favorite songs from Prince I remember when it first came out..
Sheila E is so smokin' hot in that video
This and Little Red Corvette..was on my cassette! Don't forget the ivory guitar..sweet! Meow growl..lol
Catchy, and easy to remember. "When Doves Cry" is my favorite from him and "1999" is second.
This song never ever ever ever gets old for me....
Also, Kevin Smith (director of Clerks) has a Prince story that is almost, if not just as good as Charlie Murphy's.
Kevin: "Chaka mad?"
Prince: "Chaka REAL mad!" 😆😂😂😂
@@Lunacyk It's too bad he never got his llama at 3 a.m.
6:06
Prince : "got ya Amber !"
It's performances like this that always put Prince's pedestal just a bit higher than Michael's for me. 😊
Great song!!
Within one second I'm back in my youth back in the 1980ies! The best time of my life, with the best music ever!!!!!!!! R.I.P. Prince - your music will never die!
Prince's instrument talent would rival many bands let alone his singing and song writing skills.
The memories and feelings Amber had listening to this, is what I experiance listening to most of your reactions. THANK YOU GUYS. 👍
What next? Well, as I said, "Sign O' the Times" would be my choice, but you can hardly go wrong: "Controversy", "I Would Die 4 U", "U Got the Look", "Cream", "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", all classics
Although my other choice would "Kiss", followed by Your Man, Tom Jones doing his (excellent) cover version.
6th grade for me I also loved Pop life and America also
@@Marbella125 Yeah, they are great too!
This is my favorite Prince song. So upbeat and fun, always takes the better part of a day to get this tune out of my head.
Please react to some Prince that DIDN'T get top-40 radio station play! Try She's Always in my Hair; Erotic City; Thunder; Somebody's Somebody; I Love You in Me; Head; Black Sweat...pick 'em all...thank you...
Absolutely..... The man has 40yrs worth of music... which 90% of NEVER got radio play
Housequake
Prince was just so talented. An artist of the first tier. A must to know to understand American Music.
What people don’t realize about Prince is he is one of the greatest guitarists of all times. He could hold his own and shred up their with Eddie Van Halen, Mick Mars, and Steve Stevens.
I still will go with Stevie Ray Vaughn over any of those guys.
@@maxpeck7382 Stevie aint as versatile as Prince in the genres.
It amazing how most people don't mention black guitarists like Eddie Hazel of the Parliament Funkadelic, Ernie Isley, Chuck Berry or hispanic guitarist Carlos Santana.
@@flucas6595 don’t forget Vernon Reed of Living Colour.
The girl next to him on guitar is the one playing most of the guitar part of Purple Rain.
They sound like we might speak the same Prince language, always fun to hang with another of this giant purple family💜. I have asked several times to hear you react to different Prince songs but I’ll just plead with you to do a LIVE performance….there is NOTHING like Prince live!!! 💜💜
One of my favorites by him, is probably one of his most underrated songs, "Seven." I know you'd both love it. You should absolutely check it out.
I LOVE SEVEN! A&J, yes, please!
"With their intellect and their savoir faire"
Gotta love Prince. One of my favorites by him. Side note, the guy in white sitting by the drummer is Pat Smear from The Germs, Nirvana, and Foo Fighters.
Thanks! I was looking to see if anyone else said this before I posted!
Prince was fantastic! Died too young.
I think I'd call what he does is his own personal primal scream in Prince's own way! I like how the music video was made with the drawings and illustrations mixed up with the music & the band in real time.
One of my favorite songs and videos. Prince's answer to the Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour'.
Freaking amazing artist! he was the whole package! Song writer, played every instrument, did an amazing solo of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” honoring George Harrison. A must watch!
Great song. One of my very favorite songs! It makes me smile and starts my toe tapping. I sing along.
As a counter to Prince reaction to Morris Day and the Time "The Bird". Morris Day was a great friend of Prince's. They played the rival band to his in "Purple Rain"
More Prince please! LIke the live performance of Baby I'm a Star! Has some outrageous dance moves.
This is my fav Prince song. Totally love this song, I can actually picture back to my teens when it was released what the weather was like etc.
