I think it was a good buy for nikon!
This is ridiculous. Why would Nikon buy RED to get the tech, thus have a business advantage, then to turn around and license it to the competition?
I think what's more likely is we'll see a Z mount Red and Nikon making cinema lenses for Red. In return, Nikon will get access to Red's global shutter tech.
I can see this happening for sure! Nikon starts developing cinema lenses and they start making RED'S with Z Mount. I completely forgot about RED's global shutter... looks like we could also get a Nikon alternative to the A9iii with global shutter!
@@StefanoLombardoYT Like you, I hope Nikon doesn't turn into a patent troll. Hopefully the synergy is channelled into making Red cameras with good autofocus and maybe even Nikon's 8 stop IBIS added in
RAW of photos is popular, but RAW of videos is not. . . 30GB is used in 40 seconds, who will use it? Does the dynamic range benefit of RAW over LOG far outweigh the storage capacity and computer cost paid......
Internal RAW is now available in Canon, I can accept that Nikon acquired RED, which is why internal RAW came to Nikon, but then how did it come to Canon?
Nikon wamts nikon cameras to sell and dominate the market like sony did for the last 5 years ...its about time nikon came back and everyone switch their ecosystem like they did to nikon 7 years ago

Interesting I didn't know all of this. I don't think Nikon will follow in Reds footsteps which will be a good thing!
Hopefully not! That will mean there's a possibility that we all could get internal compressed RAW for video!
