- I finally decided on a nice chess set. House of Staunton seemed/seems like a good company after much reading and going over the variety of items they had. Unboxing video. F/U video...mostly focusing on the Box, that came with this set, being tooooo Shallow for the 4 inch king. Not thrilled about it.

Looks awesome! Beautiful table! Congrats. Mine turned up a few days back but it’s killing me waiting for Xmas. Red and black lacquered. The kids will give it to me. 😍😬😇🤟🤟. And for $50 it was an amazing deal I think

Very nice set. Board and pieces are sized correctly. I prefer ebony wood for the black pieces though.

I hate the logo in h1 square
For me, the logo is why I purchase HOS board.
You can get the board without it.

I got their championship series chess set in November and was a little disappointed in the color of the golden rosewood pieces. I'll get the grandmaster series mahogany gilded pieces when they become available. Their communication leaves a lot to be desired.

What about the box? How did the pieces fit?
Would look good if the foot/leg on the table was very dark .. right now it highlights the table an pulls away attention from the top
good video.. If i had gotten the box I would have gotten another piece set for it... a cheap one.
Oh man das ist Phantastisch, ich habe auch kein Schachbrett unter 2000€ Wert , es ist auch für den Tischler eine wichtige Lektion ein Schachbrett zu erschaffen. Leider ist das Brett vollständig unbrauchbar, da sein unteres Feld ein Branding auf der Sichtfläche hat, es gib halt auch Lakaien in diesem Bereich.

I kinda wanna know if they are trust worthy company to purchase from coz I once saw on the Instagram post comment that a guy had an issue with communication to them and still hasn't received a product!

For me, personally, it takes between 5 and 10 days for delivery, but you can check on amazon yourself, and YES HOS (house of staunton) is a VERY trustworthy company, if want to buy anything chess related, i suggest going to HOS.
HOS is a good company. I had recent order from HOS and got the 2021 catalog as well. I’ve had their Championship set in Golden Rosewood (Shesham) for a dozen years . I like the color.

The professional board looks nicer than the box board, don’t like the plastic for the pieces.
Made the mistake of not leaving enough room on the table to place the pieces when they are taken! ;-)
There's some room for that, but not enough for a clock. Still a good looking table for a home project!

Mate you’ll be lucky to even be able to buy a set of pieces atm on the HOS website,I’d imagine THE QUEENS GAMBIT had done wonders for the worlds chess suppliers as most seem to be completely out of stock with literally everything

I would just darken the surround and leave the squares. I like the pieces. King not too big 👍

@@joaquinestebandbm7630 i've seen some of these for 300-400$ dependign on the size type of wood and other factors
With the lighter brown color and peppered grain pattern. Makes me believe that it isn't Golden Rosewood but rather Acacia wood aka Babul wood. Yes there can be lighter colors of brown for Golden Rosewood but Golden Rosewood doesn't have peppered grain patterns. I would contact House of Staunton and ask why they advertise it to be Golden Rosewood when it is not?
It’s Rosewood...this guy doesn’t even know how to properly set up a chessboard, so his descriptions may be further questionable. I have the electronic (e-pieces) for the DGT e-board and my board and pieces are rosewood. The e-pieces may be much more expensive, but the base wood abs pieces are the same. HoS isn’t deceiving or bait and switching anyone.
@@doclee8755 Rosewood and Golden Rosewood have extreme grain pattern. His set wasn't showing the grain pattern that Rosewood is known for. Let alone peppered grain pattern. This is more consistent with Babul aka Acacia wood. India has banned export of Golden Rosewood.

House of Staunton is getting cheapo, plastics, veneers, , cheap woods… unimpressed!
Not true they have high end pieces if you have the 💵
What he bought is cheap but I bought from the House of Staunton I spent over $1000 for mines
