When you've been to ikea enough times that you recognise the light in the background

I always enjoy a clear and informative PA. I personally feel a mumbled PA that I don't get a word of is worse than no PA as it gives me the feeling that there was something important the Captain had to say and I missed it.

Are you nervous before a flight?

Between the ambient plane noise and the other passengers talking I can’t hear a word most pilots are saying so I’ve stopped trying to listen. 😐

Really appreciate this. As a nervous flyer this is my biggest issue. Thank you and I hope all the pilots out there are listening.

What we were taught when I was a JTAC in the UK army is an acronym called CLAP, this stands for Clear, Load And with Pauses.

To make a good PA it needs to be repeated. Please. The first time we are chatting and taken unawares and can miss important stuff.

Todays pilots don’t even give a PA, which is kind of disrespectful. I think they should make a welcome PA either before safety video or during the flight even if everything is 100%perfect with flight and aircraft. Unfortunately, not everyone are like you. 🎩 off to you!

The volume is so low you can't make out what they're saying.

i hate it when i fly and the PA's are just a mumble and you can't understand what the pilot said.

Yes, Mentour, you are so right. As an only passenger it makes me always satisfied to listen to the Captain's PA, if it is spoken in a clear voice and giving some useful information.

I'm not an aspiring pilot, but this video is super helpful in molding one's communication/public address skills. Thanks! ☺

Best PA I remember was in Gothenborg one of the cabin crew came out to ask us to boards quickly because if we did we might make our slot and all our connections. The PA afterwards thanks us for getting in all so quickly proclaiming that it must be some sort of record for boarding a 737 and we'd make our slots and should make our connections. For me it did make me just dump my bag and sit without the usual messing about so it worked.

Hello ... I love your channel, and the information you share. Thank you, and I really appreciate the thoughtfulness that you put in to making a PA. I was recently on a flight of a USA airline (The name was not US AIRLINES). I have traveled many, many times (spanning several decades) in the past on airlines. On most airlines, there is quite a bit of noise going on, with the engines running, and the ventilation system running, as well as audible distractions in the cabin (two examples in this case were a young child finding great joy in slamming the arm rests up and down, sitting right in front of me, and then one passenger, sitting only a couple of rows away on the other side of the aircraft, was allowed to bring a Poodle on board with her, whose bark sounded like the excited screaming of a young girl, and was not controlled by their owner). And, because I have traveled many, many times on commercial aircraft, you may deduce that I am a bit advanced in age, and you would be correct. Along with advancing age, I also experience what I consider significantly reduced hearing ability, where the surrounding noise has a tendency to mask even those close to me who are trying to communicate with me. So, on my recent flight, I can say that not only were the announcements from the cabin crew not intelligible, but also the pilot's announcements were nearly inaudible, and totally unintelligible. And, if it is even only routine information that they are attempting to communicate, I still wanted to hear what they are saying. The only thing that did come through was their advertisement for their credit card. But one thing that would be appreciated by many older people would be an improvement in the frequency response of the PA system. Thank you again for addressing this issue.

Even though I'm not interested in planes and becoming a pilot I find all your videos very interesting and informative. Cheers

The last couple of flights I took were on Southwest and I had great pilots that had funny PAs. It was nice, and a good way to start a cross country flight.
