    In Canada,almost no "big" airline will look at you as a prospect pilot with less than 1500 hours, not even for their regional. The small airlines (first nation, summer bush planes, small commuter, etc.) take pilots from 250 hours, normally those airlines fly small prop planes or turbo prop.. I haven't heard of any case like in Europe that with 250 hours you would get employed to fly jetliners (737, Avro, A320, etc.). Great video as always!

    • @9999AWC
      @9999AWC 6 лет назад

      Diego KF There are exceptions for the 1500hrs "rule". Most airlines in Canada have partnerships with flight schools/post-secondary institutions (MRU and Seneca College for example) where students will get greatly reduced hour requirements via certain criteria.

    • @CaptainMav
      @CaptainMav 5 лет назад

      AWC yes that’s true. My school is in collaboration with Westjet we can register at 250 CPL mIR + Iatra and expect and interview around 700hrs and to go online around that with Link and around 1000hrs with encore

    • @Tranefine
      @Tranefine 5 лет назад

      Diego KF As a European (Switzerland) I’d like to work for a small Canadian bush airline to build flight hours and experience. But I’ve heard that Canadian policies in this case (working permits for foreigners) are pretty strict. Do you know if it is still possible to get a working visa? And is a CPL with around 200+ h enough for most bush flying companies?

    • @CaptainMav
      @CaptainMav 5 лет назад

      Tranefine there is no simple answer I’m afraid. If you have a degree you may be able to apply for permanent residence (check the IRCC points calculator online you’ll need about 500 pts) then you’ll need to transfer your EASA to a Canadian CPL. Some northern bush airlines will only employ Canadian passport holders (1000 days after getting PR) but some will hire with a Canadian CPL M/IR and a minimum 2 year work visa in place. It’s unlikely you’ll get a straight work permit because the employer would have to carry out an LMIA which they’re unwilling to do as it costs them around $1200 per applicant and brings a lot of ‘heat’ on the business. All of their books are paperwork are audited by the authorities. If you need anymore help just message me, I’m a UK resident with a Canadian CPL about to go to a Canadian bush airline so I’m right in the thick of it now. Good luck

    As to what you said in the begining. That is half true, the FAA allows pilots to split the cost of doing a cross country flight like putting a flyer on a cork board at the local FBO that says say "Looking to fly to teterboro to Farmingdale cal xxx-xxx-xxxx for info to split costs".

    Hi Mentour,
    I just recently found your channel, and have just subscribed. I have really enjoyed your content.
    This is my first ever comment on any of your videos.
    So I would like to ask you more questions in the future, I hope that's not a problem for you to answer my questions.
    I am in the UK and I am in my final year at secondary (high) school. My number one goal in life is to become a Commercial Airline Pilot. I am going to be doing my GCSEs soon. The problem is that I am really struggling to get the best grades possible in each and every one of the subjects that I am doing. So my questions to you are:
    1. How can I get good grades? What can I do?
    2. Did you struggle at school? If so, what did you do to get the best grades?
    3. Do you have any tips or techniques to help get the best grades?
    4. Are grades important, or looked at, when applying for a pilot's role? Can you still a job if your results aren't good enough?
    Thanks,
    I look forward to your reply.

    Quick Q: I saw some flight schools in Europe offering the complete course (PPL+CPL), and, according to their plan, you'd take the CPL exam with 200 hours TOTAL (45 from PPL + 165 from the CPL)....is it true that you count the PPL course's flight hours as flying experience valid to attain (eventually) your CPL under EASA regs?

    • @muhammadmasterminders
      @muhammadmasterminders 2 года назад +2

      Yes. They're part of your Accumulated experience hours. You start logging your time from the very first time you took to the sky with your flight instructor.
      And I hope you're already a pilot now 🤓🤓🤓 cheers

      Ryan El-Assaad Yes. You need your PPL license and a minimum of 100 hours flight time before you can write the CPAER (CPL test), and 200 hours before you can actually receive your CPL.

    • @Cheickstar001
      @Cheickstar001 5 лет назад

      if you want to do modular courses, then you need a PPL before moving to the CPL. but if you follow an integrated course (iCPL or iATPL), then there is no need to qualify as a private pilot. you will learn everything at once.
      for example if you go for an iCPL, at the end of the training, you will have a CPL with instrument rating (IR) and multi engine (ME), in other words, it also covers your PPL and your Night Rating.

Would I be qualified enough to join an airlines ? What about the type rating and flying hours? At the end of the course I would have 200hrs of flying on single and multi engine planes.. Would I be requring the type rating .. If yes how do I get it ? And how do I come to know which type rating should I get as plane may differ from airlines to airlines . Is becoming trainee pilot itself equivalent to getting a typeratin? Looking forward for your answer! :D

    • @9999AWC
      @9999AWC 6 лет назад

      Chemtrails are just that, a conspiracy. They are not real, and never have been. What you see in the sky is called contrails, which are just clouds. The reason engines form clouds is because engines combust air and fuel, which results in H2O (water) and CO2 (carbon dioxide). At the altitude planes fly, it's around -50°C, so the extremely hot water vapours instantly freeze and form ice crystal clouds. The temperature, dew point, air pressure, winds and so on affect how long the contrails stay. That's why some planes will have extremely long lasting contrails while other planes on different altitudes/flight levels will have shorter and smaller contrails.

    Hi Peter, do you know if it is possible to become an EASA PPL flight instructor with just a PPL licence ? Or is CPL obligatory ?

      Think you can but you won't be able to take any money for instructing without a CPL

    and please how can they know that those flight hours logged are not false?

    • @CaptainMav
      @CaptainMav 5 лет назад

      An authorized person such as the chief flight instructor will cross reference your logbook against your pilot training record and swear an oath that it is true. Ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure your logbook is accurate

    Can we work as a co pilot in airline company with CPL ?

  • @juusojd
    @juusojd 6 лет назад

    Does CPL require class 1 medical?

    • @9999AWC
      @9999AWC 6 лет назад

      juusojd Yes. You must have a Cat 1 medical for CPL and ATPL, which you must renew every 12 months (I should probably do mine soon). After 12 months if you have not renewed it it will become a Cat 3 medical.

      Yes you can but you will have to check with an Aeromedical examiner if YOUR eye deficiency is within limits. I wear glasses myself.

    Are you guaranteed a job if you go through an airline pilot program

    • @janjyotsoora3791
      @janjyotsoora3791 6 лет назад

      Alex Lowell Yes, if you pass

    • @9999AWC
      @9999AWC 6 лет назад

      Depends on the program and the criterias. For my case, I'm at MRU. If I get above 80% on my CPAER, I'm guaranteed an interview with Jazz (not job, just interview). So right now I'm pulling my hair out trying to decipher transport canada's wording of questions, because my test is coming up soon.

    Can u become a pilot if you have tattoos ⁉️

    • @that_llama_in_a_tuxedo4584
      @that_llama_in_a_tuxedo4584 8 лет назад

      +Enock Tafa well is the tattoo something obvious. Most ex-military pilots got tattoos on their arms and the airlines (at least in the US) could care less but if its a playboy girl on your entire arm you might as well and get it laser removal.

    • @CaptainMav
      @CaptainMav 5 лет назад

      Enock Tafa depends on where the tattoo is and which airline you would want to work for. If you have a tattoo hidden under your uniform it’s normally no issue, if you wanted to work for example Emirates or other Muslim country based airlines you’d have to get it removed. I have tattoos and so for most of my friends and it’s no issue for us.
