My PB is 22:37 but as the kid who used to finish last at everything in school 35 years ago I'm massively happy with that. I love seeing runners smash 15/16 minute times, well done!
That is not bad. The others must have been very good.
One year ago I ran a 18:45 5k. Yesterday I ran a pb 5k with a time of 16:42. Im a college runner and I'm getting ready for track season. I want to break 16 minutes. Keep believing in yourself guys goals come true. Keep up the hard work everyone
Well done David! Keep on working hard 🤜🤛
Man thats a great leap.I am around that 18:45 time too.what did you do to get better.also can you give me a few tips
@@badmintonplus9278 lots of speed work. 150s 200s 400s. Strides after runs. 12 seconds fast 1 minute walk 12 times. Long runs easy runs. My coach didn't really make me do mile repeats just lots of fast speed workouts so your body can use to running at the fast pace. The first mile I went out like 5:10 and just was just holding 5:25 ish pace for the last two miles. Stretch foam roll. Recover with Epsom salt anything helps. And believe in yourself. And eat super super healthy that goes a long way as well. Drink beat root!! Lots of fruits!!! And veggies
@@davidfernandez8913 Nice work man! I went through a similar improvement in 8 months going from 17:06-->15:03 at 5K as a Sophomore in high school and I'd say the key to improvement is threshold/tempo running and whilst speed work IS important I'd argue it doesn't need to be done too much just Strides and Hill work which do the trick.
@@davidfernandez8913 thanks a lot for your help dude.I hope you are going to get better and better.
I love racing in the morning. I hate waiting the whole day for a race, because it's the only thing I'm thinking about. 😅
Yeah.. nerves can really be a factor with evening races!
My runs always are bad in the morning, way better in the evening/afternoon as I get in Fuel in the morning and prep better
Great video Ben & Sarah, So good to see you back racing and smashing those times! 🙌🏼
Appreciated the ending, id been lamenting how far id slipped in fitness since my marathon a couple years ago. Gotta get my head down and better that
Amazing how far you've come since the injury Ben. Love to see it!
Awesome, congrats Ben,love your vlogs really make me happier. Thanks
Wow - such a great run Ben!! I hope to be able to run this quick one day! Thanks for all the great content!!!
Nice work Ben! Glad to see you racing with max effort to see where you were at. I generally prefer morning races. That way I am not stressing about it all day. If I have a night run, I am constantly "resting" throughout the day in order to go to the starting line fresh. It just sort of spoils what otherwise would've been an active / productive day. Also, dialing in the food quota for that time of day is also challenging.
I have a night race coming up -- doing the Las Vegas Half Marathon this February.
As always, love yours and Sara's content!
Love running in Battersea Park, what an amazing time! Looked seriously cold though... well done on your PB Ben.
Great to see you back racing happy again Ben 😊
I used to run 3/4 years ago and my 5k Pb was 19:55.
I returned to running 2 months ago and through your advice (and some others) I’ve been able to achieve 19:44 at my local ParkRun already ✌️
Thanks for your help
This is the video I needed today after dropping 3mins behind my parkrun PB today. That was in the past, now I can look forward to getting faster and stronger!
Well done! 2 weeks ago i ran a 16:59 on the 5k ( i am 46 y/o) The course was a little bit longer (5.1 k). I was pleased with it because i was a bit sick..... Next year i am trying to break 16:30 💪
Félicitation pour ce super chrono💪, vidéo au top, merci.
Recovering well Ben!! PB this time last year was 19.50 now down to 17.50!! Really want the sub 17 next..
Nice run Ben! Keep up the great work!!!
Great to see you racing again Ben 😁
Love the positive thoughts mate... Well done
Congratulations on the PB. Awesome video
Too many races are in the morning, I get that it's "tradition"
But I'd like to see more races in the evening or even at night. Get some music going, some lights, glow sticks on the competitors, night feels more atmospheric (plus you go faster!) get the smells from street food vendors wafting around as you do the laps. Make it a party atmosphere!
Ewww. No thanks.
Morning all day every day. I feel fresher in the morning than later in the day. I guess explains why I start my training runs before 6:30am most days. I wish for that 7am race.
Nice little tip with screwing up the bib number, I've never thought of that! Well done with the 5k Ben, pretty consistent with the splits 🏃👍
Great work mate. I’m a morning fan mostly due to the heat. If I lived somewhere cooler I might have a go at some night races
good job Ben!! see you ... in the next one!
Amazing time, well done 👍 that’s really quick 3rd place podium finish overall and first in age category 🥇 plus without a camera, you could go even faster for sure
Well done Ben, onwards and upwards 💪
Great vid. 😂 “running down Jamaica street” u make me laugh. Love ya man
it's the 'Rest Day' t-shirt for me!
I run most of my miles in the evening but really enjoy mornings races. Awesome job on the PB!! I ran a 5 k last week with a time of 20:16. The top winner was a 52 year old female with a time of 18:38. She was fast. Thanks for sharing!!
well done, ben! keep looking forward, things are looking UP! :D
Well done Ben, I've done a night time trail race. It was very cold and muddy but good fun. I noticed you were using reflective skin cream, I think I've just found a potential Christmas present.
Yes.. the skin stuff works well.. good fun!
The training is going good here in the US. Just found out that I’ve been accepted for Celtman extreme Triathlon in Scotland. It’s a iron distance triathlon with some trail running instead of road running. That’s the “ironman” that you need to race! Anyway, bringing the family over the pond to your neck of the woods in June. Can’t wait!
Good luck for Celtman 👍
Really great effort, well done on PB👏👏
Thank you 😊
Regardless of finish times to come back strong after an injury is always a test of character that makes one stronger for the experience.
Nice run. Pretty solid time.
Great video
When I used to run on the track a lot as a young man I much preferred running on warm sunny evenings. The good thing about say Parkruns though is the fact you have the rest of the day to do other stuff once you've done it. All't best marra eh 😉👍🏃👊
If you like evening races then you should checkout the South Downs Midnight Marathon (starts at 9pm but most are unlikely to finish before midnight). It’s a great event and one I’ll be looking to do again next year.
16:30 5k is not where you want to be...for me it's exactly where i want to be in 2 years 😂
Great vid this. 👌👍
Night seems fun. Might try it.
You are one fast cat Ben! Here in America, we just had our annual Thanksgiving Day 5K Turkey Trot races. I got a PR at 25:21 and won my age group 65 to 69, woohoo!!
Well done Ray!
What a time! On route to 100k subs also!
Is that the park run where you run up a sand dune? Seem to remember seeing it but can’t remember where it is. Seems to be Woolacombe Dunes according to Google. Good luck! Weather is looking awful too!
Well done Ben. Morning races best I think. Otherwise you spend the whole day stressing about it.
If there’s a smile on your face, that’s the main thing 👍🔥
Great run Ben! My current PB is 17:36 but hoping to run around 16:30 by the end of next year!
I’m definitely an evening race kind of guy. I have never been good about waking up early and I never seem to be able to get lose and warmed up enough.
Good job
Work constant Nightshift so most my runs are between 10pm-3am Peace quiet and tranquil 🏃🏻♂️
Always the morning. I think I’d be too tired from a full day of work to race in the evening. I’m much fresher in the morning
Just realised at 6:04 some guy said “what are you doing man!” 😂😂 what the hell
I enjoy a mid day run depending on the weather
If the intro ever changes to anything other than 'HLLOERRBDY!' we'll know Ben has been abducted by aliens and replaced by an imposter.
Love the gloves man! Where did you get them?
I’m a night person through and through. Most of my training runs I set off at 8 to 9 PM. I struggle so much to get up and going in the morning!
Don’t screw your number up if it has your timing chip attached to it 😉👍
The timing chip is on your shoe at these ones!
@@BenParkes I noticed, not sure what I prefer 🤷🏻♂️
If its Woolacombe you are doing this weekend it’s going to tough going with the weather.
I ran the 10km at battersea this week and found it so much harder than a morning race. Prefer training in the evenings but definitely not racing
morning racer
Hi Ben great video! What jacket do you have on please? looks great
It’s from Soar. The ultra jacket I think it’s called!
3rd..Congrats ben
I dread to think how many laps I’ve ran in that park
Hey Ben, what is the stuff you put on your legs before the race?... I prefer morning races.
Can’t believe you forgot to mention the hat in the kit list!
Ran my 1st 5K yesterday. I like mornings.
Sun cream at night? Going to try that if it will get me a PB 👍😄
Love your shorts but £70+ is just ludicrous! I’ll stick with my Lidl beauts for under a tenner 💸
If the Lidl shorts work, then no need to change them! 🙌
7 degrees Celsius is 45 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s a nice spring day. This is like the exact opposite of all those goobers complaining that it was super hot at the Chicago marathon because it was 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I can’t even imagine training in a place where the weather is so bland that 45 degrees is “freezing cold” or 80 degrees is “burning hot”.
Whinlatter Parkrun Ben?
Morning. Saying that, my next target race is a 84km trail race starting at 11pm! (Ultra Trail Hungary)
What's that lotion that Ben applies on his legs? some sort of warming thing?
What are the headphones you're wearing this video Ben? Thanks!
Im a sunnyday guy but at the week because work just at 18:00 🇵🇹 but in weekends its um the morning 😁
I’m more a morning runner, fasted preferably. I don’t like running or racing late in the day. The earlier, the better… and then I have the whole day to eat whatever I want lol
Hello ben!
Hello! 👋
What is your weight and height if you don't mind me asking?
Congrats I’m a morning person
Are you running telford ?
Anything under 10k is better in the evening. 10k and over are more morning races for me!
What was the stuff you put on your legs?

What is that white chalk on ur leg?
Ben what did that guy yell at around 6min?
did you win?

My 5k PB is 18:27. Planning to set another one next year. I have been running for almost three years. It's really enjoying watching your videos. I am from the Philippines. More power, and good luck to all of your running competitions. Keep safe.
First!
