I love the lined grey look on engines in general. I don't know what it is. I am a fan of the light weathering - I think sometimes people don't appreciate just how dirty steam railways are, and how quickly grime accumulates.
I saw the loco in this color scheme the other day and it was fantastically well turned out - That said, the little touches of weathering on this model really does bring it to life!
I recently got to see Edward Thomas last Sunday in the engine shed, they allowed me in so I got up close to it and everything, the Frey looks astonishing in person, and it looks astonishing on your model!
I hope you know how amazing these pieces are. I live in Alabama and am used to RS1's and that era. I think they have personality. Then I see your rolling museum pieces and have loco envy. I am a big fan, thank you.
Wow Edward Thomas looked beautiful in green and finely preserved in a spring 2022 visit, wondering what inspired the grey, but it's certainly different then most green/red/black liveries on preserved engines.
George I have to say this model looks stunning! And I kid you not last night I was going to comment “hi George! When will you make Edward Thomas? I know you’ve already made a tattoo” or something Edward Thomas is my favorite engine in the world and when I make a wooden railway model of it I’ll do it in this livery.
Very nice Edward Thomas model. I must be honest, I wasn't sure about the grey at first, but it's starting to grow on me. All that's left now, is for Bachmann to release Sir Handel, and the fleet will be complete. ... ... ... ... HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO TAKE!
I thought fourdees was overpriced, but this kit looks really nice especially the packaging. Also the fact that such a small company is making models this nice
This model is amazing! Personally i prefer the TR green she was just wearing, but the photographic gray is such a unique look that i might just have to model both. I do kinda wish the TR put the nameplates on anyway since she looks a bit barren though. Cant wait to see No. 4 trundling up Nant Gwernol!
Don't know if it is just me but I find masking up a model really therapeutic, my last project took about an hour to mask and about 10 minutes to airbrush 😂
Hi George, I've just been adding the elongated grab/door handles on to the RNAD Baguley for the TR version, only to see you cut them off on this one ! Yikes :) Cheers Nigel
* This looks amazing!! Was lucky enough to be one of the ones riding behind her on her first train back in steam :0 * If I may ask, do you plan to make Corris 10 and Midlander in her Rusty black as a denoter of the Awdry event? I've heard that Midlander is planned to keep the black and have lining put over the top, so possibly a second Midlander model would be nice so as not to make your current green one obsolete entirely.
I will indeed be making Corris 10, aswell as Corris 7 at some point when the kits are available (and they will be!) I’m undecided if I’ll change midlander over to black. I’m currently sitting at wharf looking at it, and I think I’ll stick to the green
“Second Times The Tattoo” and it came out just as nice as the first but a complete opposite as how funny it is . Let me list : Corrish tattoo - Dirty First model George built for 009 on the channel Chain couplers Darkly coloured and very used looking with the grime all over her TR No4 Tattoo - Clean Grey One of the most up to date George has currently done for the TR layout Nice and shiny Barley any weathering applied In short . Same engine class but very different appearance . Now you notice you can’t UN notice . Your welcome everyone !
That cream color seems to be very common on the UK narrow gauge locos' interiors, is there a practical reason for that? I know red oxide shows up often because it was cheap, is that cream color a similar story? As always though, great work George!
Hmm... I wonder why brass paint looks more like copper. But still... Your skills only seems to improve with each new video, I didn't know that Edward Thomas was being painted in a type of photographic grey
Honestly … I love the new grey livery on No4 I am considering buying 2 more tattoo body’s ( I need to get the actual PeterSam and the other narrow lads before I buy any other engine prints tho . It’s a SLOW process of saving and buying Anyways I myself love all the engines in the talylln for different reasons and honestly cannot choose a favourite Tho the main 3 for me is midlander in her old form , dolgoch and Edwardthomas All for different reasons . And I got to see midlander as rusty this year . And saw dolgoch as rheneas too … annoyingly no4 was in the shed and didn’t realise until I got back and the holiday was over 😢 Anyways . I am loving all your models . George good on ya for the models . Bye
@@GWilliamsonModels who dosent love the grey on her … looks so nice I am however digging the dark green on dolgoch . So eye catching And the grey on Edwardthomas is PERFECT I wish she had the nameplates tho . But oh well .
Well i've been made useless. Fab model as always George probably my favirote you've made, but i notice you didnt add the new roof vent to the model? Anyways I hope mine will look this good when I do it again.
I went to the awdery extravaganza last week . Edward Thomas is the basis of Peter sam and maybe give Edward Thomas midlander and Douglas some Thomas styled faces like at the events over the past 3 years ? It would be cool and to give talylln a Nicolas cage face like she did at the event last week I ain’t saying you have to but I would love it And I have my own Edward Thomas on RUclips in his dark green paint from before . Tho it’s meant to be like the second awdery extravaganza so I will dress him up like Peter sam . And I need him a moving chassis becasue I gave him the static one . Now I have an n scale layout tho it can work with 009 if need be and I wanna know where you got the Peter sam chassis from ? Thanks bye👋🏽
Oh nice … tho I live in the uk and I don’t tend to do 009 the only reason I have some 009 engines is because I have an n scale layout that can fit 009 on the rails
Thanks for reuploading. Your words of wisdom are far more important than Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's little ditty.

Yes I’m the same, it’s a smart livery. I’m glad you agree with the weathering, they’re NEVER clean if they’re in service
Very good video- wonderful to see some of the newer locos being represented!
I saw the loco in this color scheme the other day and it was fantastically well turned out - That said, the little touches of weathering on this model really does bring it to life!
Thanks. Yes it’s a stunning looking engine
Looking good in the new livery. Fine work.

How you doin ?
I love waking up to a GW loco build, this one looks so good in its grey livery. Definitely a fan of the multicolored fleet!
Glad you enjoy the videos!
Another excellent build! The lined grey looks really nice on Edward Thomas in model form.
Cheers, glad you like it - it took some patience to do!

Thankyou, that’s very kind. Still looking to improve though!
It looks beautiful a great job mate, it’s great to see the process from start to finish, can’t wait to see more

Wow Edward Thomas looked beautiful in green and finely preserved in a spring 2022 visit, wondering what inspired the grey, but it's certainly different then most green/red/black liveries on preserved engines.
The grey livery is the standard for Kerr Stuart locos - no4s rightful look!
@GWilliamsonModels I do prefer my cars in their factory paint color, so I guess that makes sense for trains as well.
She looks so smart!!
Thanks mate

Absolutely beautiful work, and being an ex Gunner I don’t care what music you play, just play it LOUD.
You appear to be the exception to my fan base 😂
You've got so much more patience than I have. I wouldn't be able to do that lining work.
Yeah too be fair it took a fair while to do, but hopefully worth it

Well apparently we’re having an update on sir Handel soon..

The fourdees RTR stuff is pricy in my opinion, but I think they’re limited runs. The body kits like this one are a good price

Honestly I’m happy with no4 in any colour, I love it in red aswell, so they can’t really go wrong in my eyes 😅
No1 in blue on the other hand..
@@GWilliamsonModels totally agree. No. 4 rocks any color she's put in. No.1's blue looks fancy, but it doesn't really feel right for her

Not a problem Nigel, good to know you’re adjusting them. Apart from that, they were fab!
@@GWilliamsonModels Thanks, you've done a lovely build of #4, you have great patience to do the lining !
Maybe you need to do No.4 in GWR green and BR black like it wore in the 90s and 2000
I’m only modelling them in present condition, many more railways to model yet!
reminds me of a certain green engine with a squashed funnel.
That’ll be because Peter Sam is based on Edward Thomas

Absolutely, depends on the individual engine.
@@GWilliamsonModels guess so !
You should try adding lighting to the engines
Interesting..I’ll look into that
If so practice on a HO/OO Gauge model. Perhaps a tank engine could be a good start.

I’m not actually sure, as it’s a terrible colour for showing dirt, you’d think a full black cab would be better for looking smart

Peter Sam is the fictional character based on Edward Thomas, so you’re correct to think that
Since they’re recoloring the locos i bet one of them will end up yellow or orange
