POLICE CALLED For Filming In Public 😂🤦‍♀️👮‍♂️

  • I wasn't sure what this company do, and on arrival found it to be a large foam manufacturing plant. Their staff were not happy with me being there filming in public outside their premises or flying my drone there, despite there being no flight restrictions in the area. I had numerous interactions with staff, including a grumpy ignorant director, who despite me saying he would be wasting their time, called the police. After a while, 3 police officers arrived on blue light emergency response, and I had an interesting interaction with 2 of them, educating them on drone law.
The site manager was fantastic, I really enjoyed our conversations. The rest of their staff unfortunately were not so great, some were totally ignorant and not willing to know about the law.

    UPDATE ON THIS VIDEO
    see also: ruclips.net/user/postUgkxY5pTpMKEuVNj_7RO9ff2lxpd_zg9nkKP
Under the Data Protection Act 2018 (The UK's GDPR), I requested all data that Brian the director had collected of me on his mobile phone to be deleted, and I required confirmation when this had been completed and that none of the data had been shared or distributed.
I'm happy to report to the Ace Community that my request has been successfully completed by Carpenter's Data Controller.
Hopefully Brian has learned a few things about Data Protection / GDPR, and the legal differences between company employees recording members of the public in public, and a member of the public filming a company site and its employees in public.

Misuse of 999 is a criminal offence, and the offending party should see either a £5,000 fine or a 6 month prison sentence. As a bonus, if they opt for the prison sentence, they won't have any drones flying over them, so they might prefer that.

This was truly brilliant. A worthwhile hour of pure education. Thank you for your patience and professionalism. You are a credit to all Drone Pilots. I certainly learnt a lot from you and hopefully, even the Employees who preferred to remain ignorant, will have learnt a little too.
I wonder if there is a law which protects the public from people who call the Police unnecessarily? Surely the Director, Brian, should be charged with wasting Police time, simply because you had offered to educate him and his refusal to be advised of the fact you were not breaking the law, makes his calling the Police, totally unnecessary and a waste of Police time.

Is it justified to travel at speed on blue lights for a man in public with a camera? - But I think the real question is what possible lies made them attend on blue lights?

how much of an idiot does Brian feel?, makes you wonder what he said to the Police for them to arrive on blues and twos. You should have made it clear to Brian that you are going to submit a FOI request for the footage he took with his own private phone. As for the Police they need to know and understand the law they are trying to enforce, he admitted he was not up to speed so he got educated on the job by the public. I would let the police decide what they want to do as its not a court of law for you to prove you are not breaking the law. The officers eyes glazed over when you started talking about CAP 762. He was also a blue line gang member, he is desecrating the Union Flag which I find offensive. Overall a brilliant start, I have subscribed and look forward to future encounters.

What a lot of people don't realise that at some point their "enquiries" if end up being prolonged could potentially be conceived as an "interview" at which point they should caution you because if they don't anything you say to them is almost certainly worthless in a prosecution. Where that limit of questions lies is a bit subjective tbh but it's worth remembering.
