    so far Grover has been accurate to his characterization in the first book. he does more in the next few books. keep in mind satyrs are fundamentally opposed to committing acts of violence so he has strengths in other ways.

      Tbh show Grover has done much more than book Grover even 😭 I saw some ppl complaining that he should've been weaker and less smart in this first instance, but I think they did make him true to Grover's nature while also giving him more strengths (his empathy to make Ares talk, and to make the team unite back in Medusa's episode).

    Y'all are crapping on Grover as if he didn't emotionally manipulate Mr. R-Rated Edge into talking about his feelings at the developmental age of 12 with a calm demeanor and innocent expression.
    But I get it about forgetting the details. When I saw the Lightning Thief musical in 2019, when Ares said, "Don't forget your bag," I sat there like, "What's wrong with the bag? I KNOW there's something wrong with the bag. I forgot what's wrong with the bag!"

    As predicted, someone has arrived to roast you in the comments. This is just my opinion obviously. All love, I dig the reactions!! ✨
    Honestly, show Grover is more useful on the quest than book 1 Grover. I won't go into the differences, you'll see them when you (re)read the book
    In episode 2 Grover tries to support Percy emotionally by offering to discuss what happened to Sally. Then he goes on to *defy a god* for Percy - and not just any god but Dionysus. In mythology, satyrs are companions of Dionysus. There is a connection there, one that Mr. D obviously thought would be enough to deter Grover from revealing what he knows about Sally to Percy. Mr. D could have murdered him on the spot. He certainly looked like he wanted to, but that's a risk Grover was willing to take because he didn't want to lie to his friend anymore
    Grover was extremely helpful in episode 3 when he mediated between Percy and Annabeth who were majorly butting heads and would probably have continued to butt heads had Grover not pushed the conversation between them at the end of the episode. The show is really emphasizing his empathy
    In episode 4 Grover recognizes the Chimera from a shadow and is the first of the trio to realize what monster they are running from
    In episode 5 he *plays a god* by flattering him and realizes that Ares played a part in the lightning theft
    In episode 6 (and in episode 2) he talks to animals which, while not directly relevant to the quest, is pretty cool to me. In episode 6 he also says he gave the animals in the truck a Satyr's blessing. He has shown his desire to protect the natural world throughout the show
    In this episode he was ready to stay behind in the Underworld after losing the pearl because he knows how much saving Sally means to Percy
    Satyrs are children of nature. They are empaths and largely non-violent. Just because Grover isn't out there wielding a sword, doesn't mean he isn't an essential part of the group
    It's obviously fine to not vibe with the character or the actor but to say he hasn't done much is unfair in my opinion

    • @EverShy_
      @EverShy_ 5 месяцев назад +5

      YES, thank you, this is completely true! The movies did Grover so dirty, he had a completely different personality than in the books.
      It took me a couple episodes but I really like Grover, Aryan is doing an amazing job, he's a lot more accurate to the book (again not book 1, but overall in the series).

    • @heyitsmira17
      @heyitsmira17 5 месяцев назад +2

      Only thing I'm missing from Grover is his flute. Though looking at the show rn I wonder if they've left this out bc they wouldn't have much use for it at the moment. Maybe he'll get that once he gets his license to search for Pan.

    I'm rereading the chapters of the book as we go through the episodes.
    And yes, the bolt does appear in his backpack in the Underworld like that in the book too.
    This episode is way more accurate then last week's episode. There is a few details I'm disappointment we didn't get but overall this is an excellent episode, I love it! And the music? Oh My God, it slaps, made me emotional not gonna lie.
    As someone else already said, the movies did Grover dirty, gave him a completely different personality than the books. The show does Grover justice. He really doesn't do much in the 1st book so the show made him a lot more accurate to the rest of the book series: he really is the soul/glue of the group. He's so just the comic relief, he's the emotional support and he's come in clutch a number of times this season. Remember episode 3, the groupe would have been lost in the woods without him.
    I wasn't sure about Aryan in the season premiere episodes, but he's won me over episodes after episodes and I love him now. He's Grover.
    PS: Matthew is right, Grover went with Percy and Annabeth to Waterland.

    is sad how Disney and modern midia make everyone think Hades is this evil god, in mythology he is a very chill guy, and he has a lot of mercy, you just need to talk with him, explain the situation. during the tale of Morpheus he even allow Morpheus to take his wife back to the world of the living, is not Hades fault that Morpheus decide to break the only rule, after Hades warned him multiple times

    This is a good ep! my only complaint is that (again) they cut the action scene short, the scene with crusty tho i wish its longer and the scene where they enter a place where charon just stands there bored with so many dead ppl who can’t get in to the underworld i kinda wanted to see that but never mind. Oh and i wish hades was more scary tho 😂 and like not just stand there watching them gone with the pearls i kinda wish he would go angry at some point that would be cool lol. And i thought they would address that the furries were sent to catch them on hades’s order because he thought his helmet was with them.
    The sally and poseidon talks my favourite scene.

    I personally think they did a great job with Grover. Although in the books after the lightning thief Grover is either more of a side character or has a large purpose so it will change if they continue the series. Especially considering they go to save Grover in book 2 and he’s barely in it. So I think it makes sense for Percy and Annabeth to be more resourceful and strong than Grover.

    Don't think this is a spoiler, and maybe someone else has already said it, but the bolt wasn't always in the backpack Ares gave Percy. Or at least, it hadn't appeared in the bag yet. It was enchanted to appear in the bag once Percy entered the underworld (or got near Tartarus, I forget exactly). Otherwise Percy would have noticed he had it before getting there. And yes, Hades is often viewed as the "devil" by many, but in Greek Mythology, it's really nothing like that. Hades is honestly one of the better gods, and as stated by the Hades here, he doesn't like to get involved in all the drama most the other gods do. One thing I wish they had included here was Hades questioning why Percy thought he'd want a war between Zeus and Poseidon. Hades has enough on his plate running the underworld, so why would he want this huge war that would just result in more souls for him to manage? The underworld is already being stretched thin.
