I would have bathed them before I would take them to the vet. The vet probably gave you antibiotics because the dogs were dirty which is dangerous to go int surgery
They've ALWAYS been responsible pet owners. Some of the BEST pet owners. And like Brooke said, farm dogs being dirty at the time of the procedure to neuter them is normal. It's very minimally invasive, so they're good.

Good morning! My boys suffered from car sickness and we were told to give 1 Benadryl an hour before. It worked and now at 6 years, it's not there anymore😊 hope their surgery went well

Good morning Brooke! I can’t get over how much the “boys” weighed. Rocky sure has grown into an amazing big boy despite his rough start in life. It’s because of your quick reaction and getting him the life saving treatment that he made it. Did Bandit say out of the creek for his recovery time? I know how much he loves his daily soaks. Haha All of my dogs had to wear an Elizabethan collar (cone of shame) after their surgeries. Bramble looks like his surgery didn’t bother him in the slightest. I have five had six but it passed and I have one that's antisocial 😊. Always when I want to love them at get hisses at nope not their time . But when I am feeding animals they come around to be loved on their time but I have to pick them up❤❤❤❤❤
Brooke, you have a real strong bit of affection for the 2 boys(dogs.) And they are really attached to you, especially Rockey. Of course when you got them you spent so much time doctoring and feeding little sick Rockey that he imprinted you as his mother and Bandit was there all the time so he did also. You will be their mother forever and I hope you have told MaryCarl that she has 2 brothers.
Our puppy had a vasectomy, it's just like a human one, he still has his bits, but they just don't produce the magic goods. He is growing well and being cheeky as ever. We got him from people who save dogs from the pound. Best dog ever!
I've always found that giving our dogs a couple of ginger biscuits before the trip really helps with the sickness. One of my dogs could only travel about 400 mtrs before throwing up and it certainly helped him. Good luck, the boys are just gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing Brooke! As a Veterinary Assistant, we see testicular cancer and ovarian cancer in dogs that have not been neutered. This is preventable and breaks my heart when we see this. Keeping dogs from being too active after surgery helps to heal the surgery site quicker. 🥰

I'm so glad your vet took into account their size to wait until they were 9 months to 1 yr old to neuter them. Totally agree it's best to get them neutered so you don't have to worry about them wandering on you. So glad your Vet realizes that large breed dogs need time to mature. I think I would have waited until about 16-18 months, but needless to say 9 months is better than 6 months. Great job Ms Coghill!
Agreed... For very large breed dogs it's a matter of giving them time to develop strong bones. Taking away the hormone function of the testes will cause the thyroid to take over in this process and can cause significant complications & problems in their overall joint & bone health as well as showing an increase in the incidence of cancer.
They look so much like my Anatolian Shepherd. It’s just amazing. Love them and love watching all your animals. You’re the reason I got goats and chickens. Love your whole family.
I had an Australian Shepperd I nursed through Parvo. He never had it as bad as Rocky did but it was still pretty bad. He was the best dog I ever had. So happy to see you never gave up on Rocky. Most people just choose to have them put down.

Good Sunday morning, Brooke. Big day for the boys at the Vet. There is nothing to give the dogs that stops car sickness. I always try to get the earliest vet appointment when I take my Catahoula 80 pound dog to the vet. He rides inside a soft kennel. I am glad that Bramble is feeling good.

They are farm dogs! Them being dirty had nothing to do with antibiotics, felines do not get them, canines do.

The doctor cleaned the area and sterilized the area prior to creating the incision, plus shaved the area.
You really should know your facts before making such comments.

Keep windows rolled down a bit so they have fresh air and it helps to keep their heads up so they see where they are going.
