      @@SubieShaves just had my first shave and it is so darn close!! Closest shave I have ever had. Some micro nicks here and there on the backside but nothing crazy. A little suction feeling as have mentioned and I felt the blade which I am normally not used to but I adapted quickly. Took it nice and slow. Idk how you can go so fast!!! You’re an absolute pro lol. You have to teach us your ways. I will def be working on my technique over the next several dome shaves. Thanks!

      Absolutely beyond excited to hear you enjoyed it! I truly, 1000% think it's Blacklands best razor. It's my opinion, but I think that razor is beyond beyond exceptional. I guarantee you'll be flying around the dome in no time flat!

      It's 75% practice, 25% gear 🤣 🤣 Give or take a few percentages.
      Honestly, speed definitely increases as you get more comfortable navigating the space. I can still remember the fear I had on the daily trying to go ATG on the back of my head where my surgical scars are. Early on I ALWAYS ended up with cuts on raised spaces. All of which was entirely my fault - wet shaving was a completely new feeling for me coming from the electric and cart world.
      Keep trying, don't give up, and remember - if I can do it while bouncing off the walls, anyone can 😆🤣❤️👍

    Wow Subie, you have probably shaved with more razors than anyone else out there… Now for the million dollar question: If you could only have one razor for dome shaving, and one razor for face shaving, what two razors would you go with? Also, which Blades would you go with for each? Thanks sir!

    • @SubieShaves
      @SubieShaves  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for the comment my friend!!! Always a pleasure to see you here!!
      I always flinch at that question, as it's usually coming from my darling wife with an empty box in her hand 😅🤣
      I definitely don't think I've come close to a few out there, but we're working on continually trying new things!!
      Ok... Again, for me, personally - and based on my experiences -
      As far as top two, Leaf Thorn is a one and done for me. Rarely do I get a TRULY bad shave from any razor - which makes the bar REALLY set high. The Thorn checks all the boxes for me as a head shaver, as well as a face shaver. Offering plenty of efficiency with a medium amount of blade feel. It would be a great desert island shaver.
      Hear me out here, and this is totally just my opinion here...
      Another ABSOLUTELY underrated, personal favorite for me is the Gillette Tech razor of old. I stand by it being the best Gillette ever made (and why they made it for like 60ish years). It's efficient, comfortable, mild - and straight forward. They can be found for next to nothing, and the Pre-War triangle plate FAT HANDLE is EXCEPTIONAL. It's so good in fact that Carbon mimicked it (as did Chiseled Face) with their Titanium HIGH end razors. Sure I'd love to say Rex Konsul, Gibbs, Rex Ambassador, Blackland Blackbird TI... But all of those cost 100's of $$ more than the Low-key Tech. It's still by far one of my favorite Razors to recommend to friends and family as they are always like... Huh.. why do you need anything other than this? 🤣🤣

      I'm with ya on this, and thats why I really always try and use the same blade. That said - both of these shave to the point that I haven't found blades I don't like in them. This is a slightly older video and I have been able to test these side by side a bunch, and both are in my personal opinion, some of the best shavers I have ever used.
      Thanks for the comment!

    Subie, what is the base plate spec?

    • @SubieShaves
      @SubieShaves  2 года назад

      This is what carbon shows
      Original Base Plate = . 68 mm blade gap (Medium/Aggressive)
      -/Mild Base Plate = . 71 mm blade gap (Mild)
      + Base Plate = . 88mm blade gap.
      ++ Base Plate = 1.08mm blade gap.
      ~9.5 grams total weight.
      All base plates have positive blade exposure.
      No idea on the BB TI but it is very efficient and fairly blade forward.
      Hope this helps!!!

      @@SubieShaves i am a bit confused as to the blade gap. i was always under the impression that higher the blade gap number, the more aggressive. However, here it appears the opposite. Can you explain?

    • @SubieShaves
      @SubieShaves  Год назад

      Ahhh see, not always the case, but I understand the confusion. The carbon system is fairly unique. You can usually assume high gap means more feel. But the Carbon Shaving team has offset their highest gap by reducing their blade exposure to keep it smooth and manageable. Keep in mind, with absolutely 0 blade exposed you could have unlimited gap and no shaving happening. They are both part of the equation. If you can't see the blade you won't feel any of the gap is the easiest way I can explain it 🤣
      With the Carbon system their highest gap ++ plate actually has less blade exposure. Even though the + has slightly less gap at .88 it has more exposure than the 1.08 ++ and therefore slightly more feel. They simply don't offer a maxed out blade exposure and gap at Carbon - and I think that's ok. Some companies will have like a ULTRA setting like the Timeless 98OC - but Carbons is actually balanced both ways, and neither have a TON of kick in my opinion. I find them on the higher end of medium aggressive blade feel, very efficient and smooth personally.
      As stated by them :
      + Base Plate - We reduced the blade exposure and increased the gap to .88mm. This is a nice option if you only shave every 2-3 days, as the larger gap allows for this. Early feedback has been positive for those that prefer less blade exposure, but enjoy the efficiency of a larger gap.
      ++ Base Plate - This one is for those who like a very efficient option. This plate is still with positive blade exposure, but has less exposure than the + Base Plate. This razor has a larger 1.08mm gap. If you have thick hair and shave every 4-5 days or just like an efficient razor, this would be the one.
      Here's my final thoughts and opinions 😂 I know you'll also want to know - the BB TI would be like a step up from the ++, and + for me in blade feel - slightly less smooth, and neither are as much as the Timeless 98 OC which I found 5h3 roughest yet most efficient.👍👍
      If you Love the BB I also highly HIGHLY recommend looking at our channel affiliate Yates Precision. Their most aggressive settings are probably my favorite shaver right now on the 3 Piece, modern angle Ti market.

    Great vid but you’re killing me bro lol! My Ti Blackbird hasn’t landed yet and you want me to jump on the Ti Carbon bandwagon? Seriously, the Carbon is a beautiful razor and considered the GOAT by several guys whose opinions I hold in high regard. Enjoy!

    • @SubieShaves
      @SubieShaves  2 года назад +1

      OOOF NO don't do it... Ok do it. 🤣🤣🤣
      To be perfectly transparent, I am a TECH LOVER. Like die hard, would start a war, lover of the Tech. To have it in TI, with more EFFICIENCY... Is like a dream. It checks off all my boxes which is just so crazy to say out loud. I adore it. The + plate feels like a step down in feel aside the Timless Ti 95 IMHO, and about half step in efficiency. It's this easy going, relaxed shaver that is incredibly head nimble.. I could go on and on. Don't hate me too much... But I just ordered 2 more plates for it...
      Seriously.... The Blackland is NO JOKE. It remains as a ONE DAY FOR SURE I WILL OWN. That thing is SMOOTH, incredibly efficient for as forgiving as it is, and SHAVES so comfortable. It's a SUPER safe, 0 irritation risk at all, kind of shave. Was trying to collect enough cash to snag one but I am gonna miss it probably.
      Next time for me hahaha
      You're amazing, I can't thank you enough for joining me my friend!! 👉❤️
