- Something sinister has been unfolding in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few weeks. Amid an upsurge in Pakistan backed terror strikes in Jammu, in a fresh encounter today near the line of control in North Kashmir, the Army foiled an attack by a Pakistan Border Action Team (BAT) - a Pakistani infiltrator was killed by the Army. But in foiling the attack one soldier has died in the line of duty, fourth others including a Major have been injured

Commonsense is quite uncommon, even in the armed forces.
Conventional military capabilities of India are focused along two fronts, and hence divided. What we can bring to bear against Pakistan is certainly not sufficient to deter them, despite their economic woes.
Small actions like Balakot & Surgical strikes are like pin pricks that donot affect Pakistan in any significant manner, irrespective of how these are projected back home for the Indian public.
The Indian news media is fooling the public, and unfortunately, even those in the security establishment are falling prey to the hype & hoopla built around such retaliatory actions.
Unless we are significantly stronger than Pakistan in the conventional & nuclear domains after setting aside capabilities focussed against PLA, PLAAF & PLAN, Pakistan will not review its revisionist goals.
The only way forward is to allocate larger share of money & resources on armed services for modernization over the next 10 to 15 years. Military power assymetry is the only way to compel Pakistan to review its state policy of using terror for political ends. That is common sense. However, it has always been in short supply in India, irrespective of the party in power.

After the last surgical strike, Pakistan flew F-16 and bombed Indian military base, then later disabled Indian plane and captured Abhinandan after jamming communication system. It was embarrassing for Modi. So Modi doesn't want the same situation to repeated again.
Modi and Doval don't have any answers, they still remember what Pakistan did on 27 February 2019, modi remembers vividly what happened to Abhinadan and how he had to beg world leaders help in releasing him, doesn't want to go through that again.

gen Katoch avoided the answer when Barkha maam asked him why are Pakistan not expecting a response ? the answer is Pak Airforce came out victorious on 27 Feb and at the same day Pak commandos crossed and attacked 8 Indian posts hence Indian army and military as a whole was tamed by them ... thats why they are not expecting a response .

BATs are one of the most sophisticated and highly trained. They were trained by US armies during US war on terror campaigns and recently also trained by Chinese armies.
We have to understand the bigger plan being played by China here. Constant tension on Indo Pak order gives China a sort of free hand to quietly encroach the land at Indo China border. Whenever there is such an action in the north western border, the troops are additional deployed, the whole attention goes to the India Pak conflict. While this happens China quietly moves its forces as they know Indian forces are stretched.
Acc to intell reports there are 600 SSG commandos and the Govt of India is denying it just like they did the same thing in Kargil

Very fruitful discussion! Many different angles and strategies possible to stop Pak.... the military alliance of China and Pak has to be focussed and Pak can be made pay costs in a way that, it will not afford to support infiltration. All security agencies required proper coordination to act...
