Karen, thanks for explaining what happens to gray hair. I was starting to think I need to get it colored because I really didn't like how my hair is so dull. Going to start with the moisturize daily. ☺

My natural gray hair is wild. Very dry no matter what moisturize products I used. My hair is fine. My hair stays tangled with so many fairy knots. I shaved my head bald in the past thinking starting over would help, but same problem with my hair. My hair is passed my shoulders. I'm thinking about shaving myself bald again. My dry gray hair is just to hard to take care of and manage.

Thank you! ❤ This is so true. My gray hair is feeling just as you say (very dry, wire feeling, and on top of that I have high porosity hair) I’ve been doing exactly as you say. Prepoo, Wash and deep condition every week.
Keep my hair in 2 strand for a week before Re washing. This has cut down on breakage.
The only thing I changed was re moisture every other day while in twist. (Oyin Hair Dew, Qhemet castor oil, and Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade). My hair (High porosity) loves heavy products 💕

Hello, first let me start by stating that you are a beauty and your hair is simply amazing!
I would like to know exactly what you use to moisturize your hair. My grandmother had BEAUTIFUL silver hair without even trying. My mother's gray is pretty, as well. My silver is not has pretty as theirs and I'm trying so hard to embrace it. I do not want to rinse or dye it. My wish is to remain completely natural. My hair tends to look wiry and dry, but I will admit, I need to develop a daily routine.
Will you share what you use to moisturize your hair, as well as your daily/nighttime routine?
    Thanks!

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  Год назад +3

Hello LB! Thank you so very much! I appreciate it so much. For moisturizer, I use the Curl House Hair Nourishing Leave-In Conditioner, which is very light weight, then I followup with Design Essentials Daily Moisturizing Lotion -- I love this stuff! I seal in moisture with jojoba oil and white shea butter. Then I use either Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic for curl definition, or the Doux Mouse and Curl Glaze. I have a few videos on how to do my curl definition.
At night. I put my hair 2 to 4 big ponytails. In the morning I fluff and go . Every other day (or sometimes daily) I spray the Curl House Hair Nourishing Conditioner, and put a little bit of the Design Essentials Daily Moisturizing Lotion, and a tad bit of mousse and pull my fingers through my hair. I will actually create a video or a short video on how to maintain this hair. I do have a very hold video when. my hair was much shorter called 'reset your curls'.
Also, my first shampoo is with a purple shampoo to keep the gray popping. Also, I went live last year and discussed all about grey hair. Check my channel for that live stream. I think it will be most helpful to you! Hope all of this helps!

@@KarenofCurlHouse, you are such as sweetheart to give such details and attention to your viewers. Thanks for the tips. I did discover some of your other videos immediately after I posed the questions to you. I'm trying to look like you; not when I grow up but NOW, LOL!!
I went natural almost two years ago. My hair was cut in a mohawk (tapered sides). I chose to leave the front of my hair a bit longer (for that real mohawk look), so there was still quite a bit of relaxed hair there, but I quickly grew tired of dealing with the different textures and cut all of the relaxer from the front.
The best results I seem to achieve with my natural hair is when I rollerset it with magnetic rollers and as I remove each roller, I separate each curl into halves or thirds and finger coil each strand. My hair looks shiny and healthy then and the silver is pops more. But that's day 1 hair, as it will literally morph into something else (which is also not a bad look), but eventually the shine disappears. I don't want to rollerset my hair every night, at least not while it's at the length it's at now. My hair holds curls really well, so there's a lot of shrinkage. I want BIG hair! Hey, I'm a Texan, and we like everything BIGGER in Texas, LOL!! But more than anything, I just want my hair to shine.
Surprisingly, I have received many compliments on my hair, from men and women of ALL ages, but I'm really looking to add the shine and sheen. I think it's important to note that my hair was a bit dull even when it was relaxed. My hair was always long and pretty, but it's always needed a shine boost. Nevertheless, I don't think I've enjoyed my hair more than I do now that's it's completely natural.
I was born in 1969 and raised in the 70's-80's; an era when Black women were not really embracing their natural hair. We thought "nappy" was a bad thing and that our nappy roots were the indication that it was time for a relaxer. But when I think about the "life" of my hair, I remember the time that my hair was at its thickest and healthiest. That was before chemicals, and I just wish that chemicals were never used in my hair! I really envy the locks of young girls of today because their mothers kept their tresses natural, and I'm proud of them for making the decision (as they've gotten older) to let their hair remain in their natural states. I totally look at natural hair differently now. I find the beauty in ALL textures. I don't even think of the word "nappy" anymore, or at least I don't think of "nappy" as a negative thing.
      Our Black is Beautiful!
      Take care!!!
