no matter what color a person is - there was most definitely talent on that state - to me Nell Carter was one of the best singers and she was never given great recognition for that talent - and I'm white lol
@@peggybachler5952 of course you are. They way you come in to tell Black folks that you don’t care if they are proud of their representation in the arts, because you are use to seeing yourself. So effe us.
I just felt like hearing “this joint is jumping” now this...I remember the commercial for this show...didn’t see it live...but remember all the songs..plus Nell was the best...
Ken Page did a wonderful interview on CBS Sunday morning when AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' first came out...I myself saw t at least six times during the run, that I can remember. Ken said something like, "You know, Andre, Charlaine, Armelia, Nell, and I represent...aspects in a way of Waller's personality. I may LOOK the most like him, but we are all of us - parts of the person he was: lusty, funny, creative, bold, you get the idea!"
Nell’s voice sounds like an instrument. That’s insane!!
Saw this twice on Broadway. We were on our feet!
I will always be a fan of the late great Nell Carter 🙏🏾
All that talent on one stage. Makes me proud to be black 😘
I'm proud to be human and most happy to be alive!

Like her in every aspect of life. RIP 🌹
Does anyone know.if.the llght-skinned woman is Martha Wash?
That's Roz Ryan
I was trying to decide between Roz and Martha too! Found the Playbill online. It is Armelia McQueen.
That guy looks more like an overweight David Alan Grier than Fats Waller. Also, Fats wasn't effeminate and never sang like that.
You need to watch the original film clip of Fats doing "Joint is Jumpin."
