I love that she did the Cab Calloway style that they originally envisioned for the song. I love what Robin did in the film but I not totally the same. Nell Was great in this, I check this out when i need a smile. I wonder what happened to the little girl who became Nells arch nemisis for this number

It was the only production of an all black casted Cinderella story shown once. I was 18 - now 52 and it was never re-broadcasted. It was a magnificent production with A 4 star ratings and a treasure. Like so many great made-for-tv movies they're in the backroom. Queen of the Stardust Ballroom was another gem and hard-to-fined. Thanks for helping.

Why couldn't Robin Williams perform this instead of Nell Carter? Why couldn't Whitney Houston perform "Run to You" and "I Have Nothing" from The Bodyguard instead of Natalie Cole. Now none of them can answer those questions. Such a disappointing Oscars.
we used to love watching nell in 'gimme a break' when i was a teenager. one of my favs. we used to call her the fat fuck but it was all in affection. i didn't know she worked after that. wonder what she blew all her money on. maybe that girlfriend took it all. my girlfriend takes all mine.
She loved performing and was classically trained vocally. I see nothing wrong with this, save for the fact that she seems to forget her mic is on, so you hear her giving cues backstage. Also this video is poorly uploaded from its time so the audio is off sync.
God, what a fucking LEGEND. So full of sass, and that voice! Gone way too soon. She was just getting her life back together. RIP Nell.
