I once was driving down a road in a not well off area and saw a beat-up sedan stuck in the middle of the road with two upset old ladies in it. Long story made short, turned out these two old ladies were stuck because whoever did the brakes on the car forgot to tighten the caliper bolts on just one of the calipers. It fell off and gouged a nasty groove into the inside of the wheel until it all locked up. I at first thought the transmission crapped out since the car could move in reverse but not forward until I looked underneath and saw that nonsense.

Funnily enough, I did have "another shop" screw up my car. Made the mistake of going to a different shop very close my house, because they were within walking distance, instead of my usual shop near the office I worked at. Took it in for a bad wheel bearing which clearly needed replacing. They decided they needed to replace brake pads too, which they messed up a bit so they sat wrong and made noise. And they didn't even change the correct wheel bearing I took it in for, but either replaced the wrong one, or didn't replace anything and claimed they did. Managed to limp it to my regular shop who cleaned up their mess, fixed the brakes and replaced the bad bearing, and I never went back to the other one.

I have yet to see a flattened badger by the roadside. Badger roadkill is always fully intact, sometimes surrounded by parts from the offending car. I know of an accident where a motorist was killed by hitting a badger - the badger got stuck between a front tyre and the wheel well and locked up the wheel, sending the car off the road and into a tree.

Any car has to go for its first inspection when i turns 4 and then every other year.
Makes the roads MUCH safer for everyone else, when totally rusted out cars and totally worn down brake discs are not really possible.
Also, if police suspects a car is not roadworthy, they can send it for an inspection at any time and worn down tires is a $150 fine...For each tyre, so 4 worn down tyres is $600 in fines.
It is cheaper to get new tyres installed, than paying a fine for NOT having them changed when needed.

It is astonishing how there are many cars on the road that have dangerous problems that make them totally unsafe to drive. I also find it amazing how many people will buy a car and never have an oil change done, but will drive the car until the engine destroys itself. This is crazy!

There needs to be a federal report line for dangerous vehicles on the road. If the owner doesn't want to change the oil for 80,000 miles, that's on them, but some of these cars with no brakes or broken frames, ect, are a danger to everyone around them.

A general comment on the frighteningly frequent
"Customer declined to have the repairs carried out."
From over the horizon here in England, does this mean that the owner of the death trap car is free to take it back on the public highway with all the newly pointed out risks?
Is there no sanction such as towing it instead?
I understand that it's his car and property so putting the mechanics in the place of the police by making repair shops responsible in part for letting a dangerous vehicle leave their premises is beyond the call of duty.
Yet you wouldn't say that if your family member had just been run over by such a nightmare car driven by a nightmare non-repairing owner.
This moral minefield has been building in my empty head with each viewing of these videos.
Thanks for the entertainment and safe travels.

I have a lot of respect for technicians and mechanics, and the stuff they deal with on a daily basis. I cannot repair my own car myself, I can do small stuff like changing light bulbs, add coolant and oil, add brake fluid and windshield washer fluid, add air to the tires, replace air filters. Stuff thats easy to do. But when it comes to lifting a vehicle, I do not do this for safety reasons, I take the car to a mechanic. If not for mechanics and technicians, my car would be a pile of metal.
