Ask my ex-step daughter. She drove one of my vehicles for a year. Never complained (she didn’t talk much to me). I had to move it one afternoon and there was a tremendous grinding noise. She had worn thru the left front brake rotor! “How long’s it been doing that?” About 6 months. I didn’t want to bother you - besides I only drive 2 miles to my bff Cindy’s house.” That’d when I learned that there are different Laws of Physics for 17 year old girls. But, I so upset her by yelling at her for ruining the brakes that she decided on her career path. She decided to go to law school so she could sue me for MAL-STEP-PARENTING! Well, she did graduate from U-M undergrad, then law school. Never sued me, though. I think she found she could make way more money getting driver’s licenses back for drunk drivers.
I have to admit I got caught by the ‘wiper covers’ too. 40+ years driving and I never bought wipers with a cover. Took me a while to figure it out. But I did not have to go to my mechanic to solve it!
The part I like is where they say "Customer declined repairs". You KNOW it's either going to the junk yard or wind up on blocks in their front yard. 😂😂😂
Some of these drivers clearly just wanted to see their local mechanic, because a cursory inspection on their own would have resolved their issues. Good gravy.
He's not kidding about rust in the north. I stayed in upstate NY for a few months and everything was rusted out. My tools were rusting inside my toolbox in the house. It was insane.
Doesn’t the mechanic reserve the right to not allow a car to be on the road if there are legitimate safety concerns? Like disintegrating brakes, or a rotting frame?
I’m glad that I live on the west coast because those cars back east and down south are rust buckets. Even so watching these videos makes me nervous thinking about how many idiots are driving on the roads with sub par vehicles.
Oh my gosh! 😮 if I didn't see it here, WOW!! For those of us, Gear Heads and DYIers. I do NOT procrastinate. This is why I have 205,500+K miles on my 99 Ford Ranger! PLUS, I don't off road. She's been a great truck!!😊
MY late friend Andrew was extremely hard of hearing, or what's commonly called deaf. He had Hot rods and 4x4s his whole life. Somehow, he managed to always have good brakes. I guess he employed other senses, like vision and common
This channel makes me feel good about being a delivery driver. I dont do tons of maintenance, but i keep up on the basics. Ive been through multiple cars with multiple 100ks each and few major problems. Took an '03 Sebring to 375k! Just take basic care of your cars ffs
It's ridiculous, that there's no nationwide inspection rules across america! 👀 So many innocent life's could be saved... 🤦🏻♂️ Even for economical reasons, you could push car sales if a few million vehicles were banned from the roads within the next few years 🤷🏻♂️
12:27 They make grease injector needles to pierce the boot and add grease INSIDE the boot. I'm not sure how good of an idea that is or if the grease stays inside.
I only had one time where my car ran out of gas. The sending unit float got stuck and my gauge said quarter tank. Pulled the pump unit and perfect function after
Southern techs have to deal. Rust happens and you have to weld or replace. I've got old cars left outside up here and they are PA inspected and on the road. will it fall apart? Maybe. Am I going to run them? Hell yes! Merry Christmas and happy holidays.
I have two questions: 1. Why showing everything else, but not the weirdest appearance in that car? 2. Why is the record quality like over 10 years ago?
Thats just because you spoiled southern mechanics have no idea how to deal with rusted fasteners, brake lines that happens many years before the car is junk.
@ Well you’re probably not wrong, BUT, with all us southern mechanics all we have to deal with is just some dirt, maybe crusted mud that hardened after a mudden, or at worst some oil leaks that haven’t been sealed because the customer doesn’t want to have gaskets replaced then I’m sure you can understand when we deal with northern vehicles coming down here asking for an alignment with their tie rods and control arms all ceased with rust as well as the frames breaking in half because of all the salt on the roads. I would rather deal with an old vehicle that has naturally dry rusted from the weather and elements than a northern car that has rusted from severe salting on the roads.
Maybe there should be a law, "if you are too ignorant or stupid to understand car maintenance, you are not allowed to have children. So add car maintenance question to the driver license test. To the results, and a check box: Is not allowed to drive of have children."
Shouldnt there be a 50 states law where when a shop finds a unsafe car and the owner refuses to fix it, the shop should BY LAW refuse to return the car to the owner & BY LAW call the state police vehicle inspection dept and have a state police vehicle inspector come to the shop to inspect the vehicle & have the vehicle towed & crushed? I think YES. !
I say once you have that much rust on your car it doesn’t matter where you are it shouldn’t pass inspection in any state and must be junked at once. I wonder what we will see from some bad EV owners the most maybe breaks or steering issues caused by them and they will try to blame it on the car?
Out here in the northeast you must know how to weld and fabricate.. southerners got it wayy too easy man... that's why its always people out here with the cooler shit
No, we get to enjoy having older cars that aren’t like Swiss cheese and need literally every metal part replaced. We can spend our efforts making them better, not just trying to keep them from turning to dust.
This is why you’re paying such high labor rates. Gotta give them time to video, post, and talk shit about you before they can actually start on a repair.
You know, mechanics love that people don't know how to work on their vehicles and the one who thinks they know how to work out of vehicles just make it worse. So keep up the great job stupid people.

How can brakes get so bad, you don’t notice. That EV owner knows nothing.😂
Ev or not they know nothing deny all work till they have to pay for a tow and pay 3 times what it would have cost when recommended

I'm just glad they took it in to get it serviced instaed of ignoring it,
They know how to ‘save the planet…’!! 🤣🤣
Seeing all of these videos makes it clear why some states require inspections.
It should be mandatory globaly.
As I have said before, these people breed AND vote!
we have just had abundant proof of that

That's life though isn't... It throws stuff atcha and ya figure it out or you go run and ask Daddy for help. 2 types of people.
the problem, as always , is the interface between steering wheel and seat
Loose nut behind the wheel
The floor mat over the pedal has to be the #1 “D’oh! “

8:41 I didn't know Jeff Goldblum was a mechanic now!
Some of those very dangerous conditions shown where customers refuse repairs ... how can a shop legally permit them to just drive away?
There is nothing they can legally do to stop them
2:19 400k miles is crazy.
Theoretically easy, if people would maintain their cars properly
Some of these drivers clearly just wanted to see their local mechanic, because a cursory inspection on their own would have resolved their issues. Good gravy.
