I think one of the reasons Oklahoma was so great in Big games under Stoops was because they treated them like Big games. With those teams there wasn’t a fear of providing “bulletin board material.” If it was a big game, if there was trash talk, disrespect, or a score to settle from the year before the players didn’t do the whole, “it’s just another game, we respect them, and we approach it like we do every week.” They embraced the moment and leaned into the hype!
Thank you for the upload of this game. I really enjoyed when Brent and Kirk starting talking about the three way tie. And looking at the chart of the teams back in 2008. If the playoffs were around then. I just wonder what that could have been like. That would have been so fun for all three of these programs. What a year for the big12 was.
This was the year that had a 3 way tie? I very vaguely seem to remember that conundrum in my youth. I think I remembered hearing on TV that Tech coach (I'm guessing) argued that we should get in over Texas (?).
@@Gutslinger Yep all 3 finished 7-1 in the Big 12. The “head to head” tiebreakers were a wash as Texas beat OU, Texas Tech beat Texas, and OU beat Texas Tech. So the tiebreaker in the Big 12 South ended up being the team with the highest BCS ranking after the regular season ended and that went to OU who was ranked 2nd in the BCS rankings. For completion Texas was ranked 3rd, Texas Tech was ranked 7th.
I was going to say, it's so strange looking at the stadium not completely enclosed. I remember the news of them working on it and couldn't wait to see it, and now it's hard to imagine it not enclosed. But I thought our current max capacity is around 84k people. But at 5:15, he says there's 82k people in the crowd. How is that possible? Are the numbers being fudged?
