Anybody who thinks AJ didn't care, & wanted to go out with back to back losses to end his career is an idiot. No way a guy who has been the leader of a team that had a shot for a 3rd straight title is letting that team show up unprepared.
Somehow, I think "Big Game Bob" would find a way to beat Bama using a Pee Wee League team. That 'fake punt" in the first Stoops V Alabama Game in 2001 left a bad taste in their mouth that lasted for years.
That must have been one helluva fake punt given the fact the two teams didn't PLAY in 2001.......and their first game in 2002 wasn't the fake punt game, either......
Don't you read ESPN, every team tried really really hard to bring down defending National Champs. What'd you expect, the final score to be 100 to nothing. Get over it gaytor.
1:19:00. OU gets stopped a yard short of the first down, leaving 4th and 1. Stoops sends the punt team out, then reconsiders. Such an important moment--one that I think swung the game, and possibly the next couple of years of Sooner football. If OU punted there, the confidence and swagger OU had built during the game may have been lost.
@@jesuschristhomeslice9492they’ve won multiple conference Championships and Bowl games and top 10 matchups since then, “doing nothing” is missing bowl games every year or something
This is the same excuse they always use when Alabama loses. “They were so disappointed and overlooked their appointment because their players didn’t want to play in such a lowly bowl.” Same excuse for when Utah beat them in 2008 sugar bowl. I’d have more respect for Alabama if they manned up and admit they got beat by a better team. They never will though.

***** I think the Sooners have a chance this year. We say this every year, but this next year's class looks awesome. Especially if Knight can play like this every game or 90% of the season without injury.
Let's get a few things straight here: 1) Alabama didn't want to be there: TRUE 2) Saban didn't want to be there: TRUE 3) Saban is a great coach, who would NOT allow his team to lie down and accept defeat just because they "deserved" to be in the title game. The players played their hearts out. Why? Because Alabama-Oklahoma has ALWAYS had something of a rivalry between them, and Bama would much rather bring home a Sugar Bowl Trophy than nothing at all. If you think, for a second, that Nick Saban purposely tarnished his Bowl Game Record with an intentional loss JUST BECAUSE it wasn't a title game, than you don't know anything about Nick Saban or Alabama. The painful fact (for Bama fans) is that Saban was completely out-coached and Bama was completely out-played in this game. OU saw an opportunity to shut up one of the most loud-mouthed fan-bases in college football, and they took it. (Albeit, they should've known that you can never truly shut-up an arrogant Bama fan.) Both teams gave it their all, and at the end of the day, Bama simply wasn't good enough. 4) For those of you saying the SEC is over-rated, you're about 90% correct. South Carolina has CONSTANTLY been over-rated over the past several years. They are a BASEBALL school, just like Kentucky is a Basketball school. South Carolina will NEVER be a football powerhouse like Bama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, and Georgia have been over the years. The SEC is EXTREMELY over-rated this year. S.Carolina at #9? UGA at #12? Come on.. South Carolina got destroyed by Texas A&M last week... UGA really has nothing to justify a Top 25 ranking in Week 2. Will they get better through-out the season? Sure, but they aren't a Top 25 team At the moment. Alabama being ranked #2 is a joke. They couldn't pull away from an un-ranked West Virginia team (In neutral territory, mind you) until mid-way through the 3rd Quarter, and even then, they only won by 10 points? 10 POINTS! If Bear Bryant's #2 Crimson Tide rolled into a neutral stadium to take on an un-ranked team, it'd be over by halftime. I don't buy into the hype that "Saban is retiring" or that "Bama's on the downfall". Alabama consistently finds a way to stay in competition, but Bama's hurting a lot more (on offense and defense) than the media is leading you to believe. Honestly, I look for Bama to go 9-3 this year, have a decent year next year, and then start climbing back up in 2016. They never stay out of the Title hunt for very long. 5) This leads me to Auburn. I'm sure that, by now, you've clicked on my icon and realized my channel is nothing but Auburn Games. This doesn't in any way influence my viewpoint on the matter. Auburn, in my opinion, should not be #6 right now. I do honestly believe we can, and WILL win the SEC Title, and make a playoff appearance this year, but I do not believe Auburn is a Top 10 team at the moment. Our 1st Quarter play against (Unranked 3-9) Arkansas was pretty horrendous. Albeit, we didn't have Marshall, but Jeremy Johnson did a really good job leading the offense, so I don't blame him. I blame the defense. Yes, I know that we made adjustments at half-time and shut Ark out int he second-half, but a Top 10 team DOESN'T give up 21 points in the first half to an unranked opponent at home. While the SEC is currently over-rated in terms of ranking, I have no doubt that the Playoff System will ensure that the two best teams in college football will play for the National Championship. I just hope that I get to see Gus walk out onto the field with his team in Arlington in January. For those of you who feel the need to get a cheap shot in about the FSU game, please don't waste my time in having to read your comments. FSU proved themselves to be the better team back in January, and deserve to be called the 2013-14 National Champions. I really don't want to read comment about how Auburn "ruined everything for the SEC" or how they were "Lucky to be in that game" Thank you
1 You're just another SEC homer that can't accept defeat. 2. TCU absolutely destroyed Ole Miss and they didn't even give a shit either. That's the difference between the Big 12 and SEC. When one of our teams doesn't try, we still win. 3. Worry about not losing to Alabama than supporting them. 4. There's really nothing else to say. I just wanted to end on an even number.
In retrospect, I think Alabama wanted to win this game and was motivated to do so, but Oklahoma's offensive scheme and planning bypassed the strengths of Alabama's 3-4 defense that was so noted at the time. OU's defense brought the pressure on AJ, and forced the turnovers needed for them to prevail in this game as well. This game and the Auburn game in 2013 were major turning points for Alabama under Nick Saban. After this game, Saban began to alter his team to be more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball while also changing the defense to apply more pressure on the LOS. It's a good thing he did it, because I think after the 2012 Texas A&M game the entire SEC realized they couldn't out man Saban at his own game and decided to bypass the strength's of his 3-4 defense through the spread offense.
Opethian How have those times changed? The only thing that hasn’t changed is Choklahoma choking in the big games! You might want to watch this game some more. When you beat the GOAT it feels good doesn’t it.
Good grief do you look stupid. Worst aging comment in commenting history. 6 national titles later and still number 1. Mean while choklahoma cant even win a single bowl game despite playing nobodies in bowl games that nobody can even name. Bawahahaha
This aged poor as shit. Saban has won 3 national champtionchips got striped of one in 2017 (NOT that Clemson cheated) and OU can win a bowl game. OU is having a melton right now. I hope they can turn it around this year best team OU has ever had since that lost to the Dwags 2. years ago
People say Trevor Knight played out of his mind that night, that is true but what people tend not to see is that all of his receivers did as well, Bester, Saunders and Shepard, Trevor had some high throws that game but they put their bodies out there to get the ball, it wasn't just Trevor that played an amazing game it was the whole team
even as a Bama fan OU has allways been my fav team in big12, just like USC in pac12. this was a great game, could've been a lot better for us, but still a great game can't wait until we meet again. RTR!
One of the most satisfying OU new years 6 bowl wins. Making sure Saban walked away empty handed that year is a great feeling. Not many teams can say that
I think that there were many many games that were as big as this. I'm thinking about Texas back in 2000 or Nebraska in 2000. Not to mention all the games back in the Switzer or Bud Era. But this might be the biggest display of Sooner magic I have ever seen.
As an OU fan, I think it cheapens the greatness of the program to say it even deserves being in the conversation of greatest wins. This was NOT a National Championship game. We beat a team who had played much higher-quality football than we had all year. It will help our recruiting for years to come, and it felt great to see OU win a BCS game against a top-tier opponent. But this is in NO WAY the greatest OU win ever. Are you kidding? After 7 national titles, a game that got us back into the top 10 for the end of the year may be wonderful, but not even close to "the biggest." However, this could prove to be a harbinger of our return to the truly elite, and that is worth celebrating. BOOMER!!!
This game was a megadose of " Sooners Magic " Something that has been forgotten in the folklore of college football. Sooner magic was and is real. You just witnessed, and i mean witnessed it in spades as you watched it in its entirety here tonight.
I am an Alabama fan and I called this game to be a shocker. I didn't call if to be a loss but with OU's pistol read, Alabama never took on a team that ran the Dive Read. Props to OU for perfect execution, that's not their problem that even Bama has to adjust and doesn't have a D made of gods and titans. Now I will say this, on a scale of the better football team? Bama by a longshot, but that's what makes Bob Stoops a great coach. Now if Bama and OU play again in the playoffs, I will call Bama all day. Alabama has always been great at revenge games. And really it's kind of a disappointment that OU celebrates an 11-2 season just because they beat Alabama. In Alabama it's Champs or Chumps. But seriously, tons of respect to those Sooners! R.I.P. Maude, you die hard Sooner fan!
Horsethief666 ou dominate lol really really u lost to baylor and tcu and hmm how many games did ou lose this season 4 maybe while alabama ha been to 5 bcs bowl games year after year cs bowl games at that that proves we're more dominate u moron ou has been losing 4 games ever since 2011 thats not good it a winning season but if thats dominate then alabama is god but their notgod so ou isnt dominate u beat a unfocused alabama team and u can say its an excuse our team didnt even perform like they could have after the kick six bama gave up its that simple we lost respect for winning still almost beat ur team tho haha fucking weak
The funniest one is when Alabama curb stomped chokelahoma in the college football playoffs the last time they played! I still laugh at all the Chokelahoma fans thinking they actually had a chance in this game! Two plus decades!!!! Now that's something to laugh at! Are you laughing? I am!

Can you believe that LB Stryker didn't even make a NFL Team ,is Unreal. The player that saved OU sealed Alabama fate that knocked ball out of Alabama qb McCarron hand for his teammate Grissom to pick it up go score with it and with a new ou qb, who never had over 300 yds passing !! But to AJ's Last game of his All Star awards and National champ yr career before to lose his LAST 2 games sure had to hurt ! Wasn't the way you want to go out .
Alabama is a top tier program.. but "Big Game Bob" is at his most dangerous when you think he's going to lay down and die in a big game. Heipel showed the brilliance of a chess master coming up with a plan to have a quarterback with four starts to his credit shred one of the dominant defenses in the country.. and Welcome Back Mike Stoops.. Defense when it needed to take away the ball whenever Alabama showed signs of coming back. I at a lot of Crow when in 1999 I said Oklahoma made a mistake hiring Bob Stoops. Those feathers go down a lot better with Sugar.
the truth is what hurt alabama was their inability to cover the speed off the edge of the Oklahoma defense. Both teams just have "their guys" for systems that are use to facing similar systems. The smaller but speedier pass rush for OU fucked AJ mccaron's day up.
The greatest Sugar Bowl of all time? Arkansas Vs. Oklahoma. 1976. Lou Holtz was our head coach at Arkansas. We were 18 points underdog. Holtz banned 3 of our best players for team violations. It seemed hopeless now for our Razorbacks. Final Score: Arkansas 36 Oklahoma 6. Now THAT was the best Sugar Bowl of all time.
Alabama passed when they should have been running, but Trevor Knight had a career game this night. At 1:34:00 Sooners ran the end around for TD I call the "14 Bama Slamma" in Stratomatic.
Boomer Sooner! I'm expecting great things from them this year, it's about time Bob won us another national championship game! They're looking very good this year! I kept saying that if the whole nation kept putting them down before this game, it was just gonna piss em off and make them work even harder to win big and look what happened!
Haters hate, but Bama has rocked spread teams before, Oklahoma just played alot better, Bama has 3 championships in the past 4 now 5 seasons what other team has done that? The is respect earned
Steve Hines And I'm pretty sure OU didn't get mulligans like the 2011 and 2012 Alabama teams. It's really not that hard to have a streak when you're guaranteed a spot in the title game.
Actually Aries, Oklahoma had a 47 consecutive game win streak that spanned from 1953 to 1957. Three whole seasons back to back to back, undefeated. Oklahoma wasn't awarded the title in 1954 because at the time the NCAA had a rule which prevented teams from going to a bowl game if they had been in one the previous year. It was called the " No repeat rule". Actually, you should be thanking OU, because if not for that 47 game win streak causing the NCAA to repeal the rule, Alabama may have never been allowed to play Notre Dame in the NC game.
the Nebraska Cornhuskers did that back in 1994, 1995, and 1997 under The greatest coach of all-time Tom Osbourne, could've went 4 times back to back but lost a heartbreaker in the national championship game in 1996 and in the span of those four seasons nebraska was completely untouchable and unstoppable both on offense and defense and they went undefeated in 1994, undefeated in 1995, only lost two games in 1996 and undefeated in 1997. GO Big RED
lol I'm not a Oklahoma fan lol but it was funny to watch them beat alabama the way they did. I expected the tide to rout and they got routed lmbao but it's cool. my Longhorns will be back and we too will beat the tide \m/
Nasir Bradley yeah its funny huh well if texas keeps winning and improves on defense. Next yr they beasting. And if charlie strong keeps running the defense they gonna be good
Awesome win for Oklahoma, Boomer Sooner. Alabama is a proud tradition and worthy of respect as a Fellow Sooner fan I would hope we can show a bot more class than some of these previous posts. Most Sooner fans aren't so arrogant as these folks, so Tide fans please understand there are idiot fans in every bunch and these idiots do not speak for all of us. I'm a huge Oklahoma fan but that interception aj threw in the 1st quarter, was that pass interference on Oklahoma? Our defender had a hand full of jersey. What are your thoughts.
Man Nick Saban from losing to Auburn UAB to winning a national championship and rebuilt LSU in 2003 winning three national titles in Alabama to losing all team in the NFL to Soon to be ousted by Auburn and Gus Malzahn
I love the look on Saban's face in all 5 of those national championships in the last decade! You know the feeling! Oh wait....Chokelahoma hasn't won a national championship in the last two plus decades!! That's what I love!! Lmao!!! You jealous Alabama wannabes are pathetic!!

But damn at 3:23 when alabama punts in the 3rd quarter, and they down the ball at the 1 yard line, as an oklahoma fan you're just like, damn they do everything so well on both sides of the ball.
Auburn should be lucky that 2013 season wasn't the first season of the CFP because I honestly believe that this would of happened: #1 FSU vs #4 Alabama #2 Auburn vs #3 Michigan State. If the CFP began in 2013, I believe Alabama would have been in the CFP.
Anyone who uses the excuse 'Alabama didn't want to be there, they wanted to be in the national championship game' and that's why Alabama lost is just another butthurt SEC fan. Anyone who has ever played sports knows that when the game starts you go out and play your hardest no matter who you are playing and where you are playing. Don't use that lame ass excuse anymore. Alabama played their hardest and got beat by a team that proved they are way better. In the end the better more disciplined team won 45-31. Now go cry about it some more Bama fans. BOOMER SOONER!

What award did you win the dickbuckus award or something like that what was the name of the guy that sure wasn't the Heisman I can't remember what they give p**** quarterbacks
A lot of people that has commented are clearly not great football minded people. Oklahoma won because Bob Stoops out coached Nick Saban! Yes I said it, but lets remember 1.) That Bama didn't know who was going to start at QB for OU until Gameday so they was preparing for 2 QBs in a month and it showed their Defensive gameplan was just off and having to defend off of Turnovers didn't help. Bama D was better in the 2nd half but the game at that point was favored highly to OU with momentum and the shell shock from the Bama players 2.) AJ McCarron was playing like he wanted to prove something to scouts! Sure he said what he said about wanting to prove that Bama was still the best College Football Team but thats disrespect to OU and he paid Big Time for those comments. Very Good Quarterback, but his pride and ego got the best of him this game. Bama wanted to blowout Oklahoma by halftime, they didn't want compete against OU from start to finish because the game they really wanted to play in didn't happened and their mindset was to dominant but only because they was the "Big Bad Alabama Crimson Tide." Oklahoma beat the bully up and it showed that this lost was more of a wake-up call to Alabama than the Iron Bowl loss. From this tone of comment you probably know that I'm an Alabama fan, but I'm not tripping over this lost I mean I got over it the next day because it was a consolation game for Bama, but the comments is really a bunch of excuses or bias comments and I really wish Bama fans (not speaking on all just whoever shoe fits) would stop giving excuses, complaining and crying over losses because that shows your not a self-controlled person which is a huge problem for majority of the fan base in Alabama
I've never seen so much bullshit in my life. Oklahoma won because they have better players, better coaches, and are just more dominant. You can use the "Alabama wanted to play in the National Championship" excuse all you want, but do you realize how stupid that sounds? Every fucking team in the country wants to play in the Championship, but that doesn't mean to not play your heart out. Alabama was as excited and energetic to be there as Oklahoma, but just wasn't good enough.
"Alabama was as excited and energetic to be there as Oklahoma, but just wasn't good enough." Look Bama did not want to play in the Sugar Bowl they rather wanted to play in Pasadena for the BCS Title game. What you said sound like a Oklahoma fan where winning a BCS Bowl game is a successful season. Thats totally different in Crimson Tide land! Had Bama won the game vs. OU it would of still been a failure season in the eyes of the Coaches, Players and Fans. To the Football side I gave credit where credit is due and that was to Bob Stoops for preparing his guys and having them to believe that if they battle against Bama they could beat them and + he disguised a great gameplan against them like Texas A&M and Auburn did! But you would have to re-read to initial post I put up for more reasoning on the Football side
Ignorance is bliss. You really believe that Alabama had no interest in this game at all. Alabama were ecstatic to play in this game just like Oklahoma. You said in your first comment that some Alabama fans are making excuses yet you're saying the exact same thing they are. Lol, "I'm not tripping over this loss I got over it the next day because it was a consolation game". I've never seen so much bullshit in my life from a whiny fan of the losing team. Look chump, Alabama got owned and don't have the talent Oklahoma has, and that's why they lost. Sure they would rather be in the Championship, but that's why there's a whole fucking month to get prepared for this game. Not just physically, but mentally as well. All those angry emotions and disgust about losing the Iron Bowl would've been gone after a week. I just can't believe how ignorant all you Alabama chumps are. Y'all got owned on National TV, and Oklahoma proved Alabama wasn't a title team this year. Nothing more to say about it.
Oh yea one more thing, A.J. Maccaron or however the hell you spell his name, wasn't trying to impress scouts. Lol any "football mind" knows that he isn't NFL material. You have no idea how much you're contradicting yourself. You are making numerous excuses for Alabama yet you are over this game, and you're not making excuses. Get out of here loser, Roll Tears Roll!
Isaac Gomez McCarron isn't NFL material? Uhm if he wasn't them Im guessing the Cincinatti Bengals wouldnt of drafted him. Not saying oh one day he will be a star or starter in the NFL, but yeah he is NFL material if he is in the League Im pretty sure. Nick Saban said at his Media Day about the OU game that (Im paraphising but still quoting and if you dont believe me then look it up) "I couldn't motivate my players to win a consolation game" Proof right there that Bama didn't care about the Sugar Bowl as much as OU did. Bama simply wanted to blow them out by halftime all with half effort. They didn't want to play as hard as they did vs. Texas A&M b/c of what Johnny Football did to them his Freshmen season, Ole Miss after playing pretty poorly vs. Colorado St. the previous week and having the Nation thinking they was on upset alert vs. the Rebels and finally LSU because since Saban came to Bama, LSU has been their measuring stick opponent, the Team that would challenge Bama year in and year out from start to finish. Im not a person to disrespect, but to speak facts and truth!
Alabama’s loss against Auburn was on Saban. How are you going to ask a college rookie with almost no experience to kick a 57-yard field goal? That would be a challenge even for most professional kickers.

Alabama was so uninterested in playing Oklahoma, that they didn't score the first touchdown and didn't force the first turnover. Oh wait.....

Finally, a Bob Stoops team actually showed up in a bowl game, against a good team.
***** I think the Sooners have a chance this year. We say this every year, but this next year's class looks awesome. Especially if Knight can play like this every game or 90% of the season without injury.
Let's get a few things straight here:
1) Alabama didn't want to be there: TRUE
2) Saban didn't want to be there: TRUE
3) Saban is a great coach, who would NOT allow his team to lie down and accept defeat just because they "deserved" to be in the title game.
I really don't want to read comment about how Auburn "ruined everything for the SEC" or how they were "Lucky to be in that game"
Thank you
Haha that's cute
Alabama roll tears roll
1 why you surrporting bama but an auburn
1 You're just another SEC homer that can't accept defeat.
2. TCU absolutely destroyed Ole Miss and they didn't even give a shit either. That's the difference between the Big 12 and SEC. When one of our teams doesn't try, we still win.
3. Worry about not losing to Alabama than supporting them.
4. There's really nothing else to say. I just wanted to end on an even number.
Doesn't get rid of the fact that OU beat Bama
Alabama can't defend a spread team for shit, they're only geared to beat LSU. Times are changing Nicky.
I hope they can turn it around this year best team OU has ever had since that lost to the Dwags 2. years ago

Great game. Thanks for posting the video for those of us who had to work.
Even the announcers in this game didn't seem to give Oklahoma their credit. Sickening.
This never gets old.
I'm an Oklahoma fan and I'm still convinced that was Drew Brees and not Trevor Knight because that guy never played near that good ever since.

The biggest win in school history? What do my fellow Sooner fans think?
I think that there were many many games that were as big as this. I'm thinking about Texas back in 2000 or Nebraska in 2000. Not to mention all the games back in the Switzer or Bud Era. But this might be the biggest display of Sooner magic I have ever seen.
Yes, 2001 FSU game, 2008 Texas Tech game and this game make the 3 biggest underdog wins of my time at least for the Stoops era.
Nope. 2000 National Championship game. Bigger underdogs and for all the marbles.
The greatest thing about it is there so much more to come. God I love being a Sooner fanXXXXOOO Boomer
BOOMER!!!
I love you man...been waiting for this since the day after

Something that has been forgotten in the folklore of college football.

The best game Sooners ever had against Alabama. So far SEC we’re here again. More to come.
This game is most definitely up there with USC vs. Texas in 2005!
the truth is what hurt alabama was their inability to cover the speed off the edge of the Oklahoma defense. Both teams just have "their guys" for systems that are use to facing similar systems. The smaller but speedier pass rush for OU fucked AJ mccaron's day up.

What other team has won 3 championships in 5 seasons? Umm, Oklahoma. 1950, 1954, 1955. Enjoy the heyday while you've got it . . .

No media back then.
the Nebraska Cornhuskers did that back in 1994, 1995, and 1997 under The greatest coach of all-time Tom Osbourne, could've went 4 times back to back but lost a heartbreaker in the national championship game in 1996 and in the span of those four seasons nebraska was completely untouchable and unstoppable both on offense and defense and they went undefeated in 1994, undefeated in 1995, only lost two games in 1996 and undefeated in 1997.

McCarron isn't NFL material?

Are the OU fans screaming "Overrated"? With 47seconds left in the Fourth haha that made my day😁😂😂
Alabama’s loss against Auburn was on Saban. How are you going to ask a college rookie with almost no experience to kick a 57-yard field goal? That would be a challenge even for most professional kickers.
