Tekken 4 Yoshi’s red and silver costume will always be my favorite one. Love the whole color scheme, the mask looks great imo, I especially love the demon face on his back, and the basic silver sword actually fits the aesthetic but looks even more badass when it’s lit up red after using his Soul Stealer move
Love that outfit. Whenever I think of Yoshimitsu, that's the one that comes to mind. Namco seems to have even liked it enough to sort of remake the mask/wig with the Kagekiyo helmet in Tekken 6 and 7.
SC2 green outfit yoshimitsu is one of my favorites. It's definitely way better than you are rating it. I think you are just looking at the "cool" factor of the costumes instead of thinking about the characters setting. It has such intricate detail and color palette. His crown might be weird but it's all based on some historical reference.
The character model overall is just so bad that it drags down anything the costume had going for it. I don't think of very much pink in the middle east, either, but it's probably the lack of cultural input. It could have been much better, but I heard a rumor that they were running out of development time for the game, so 2P outfits were lower priorities, and Yoshimitsu was a late addition to the game. Not sure how true that is, but that model is awful. His neck is even hollow like a dummy, even though he's supposed to be human.
I kinda like Tag 2's Armor though. Fit his Buddhist side of portrayal, also I personally dislike T6's armor the most because it is not a samurai, ninja or even about coming from space, not really fit any of his portrayal in the past.

Tekken 6: 1-Way too over designed as he looks like a Bleach monster. 2-Kinda love the spooky priest ghost look Tekken 7: Looks like Deker from Power Rangers Samurai Tekken 8: A great call back to his Tekken 3 costume although he kinda looks like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden. Soul Calibur 1: Looks less like a ninja a more like a ghost samurai. 2-Great puppet design, but his outfit looks more Arabic. Soul Calibur 2: 1-Great Samurai design along with the mask. 2-Great 3 mask design concept. Soul Calibur 3: 1-Looks more like a Tengu Samurai. 2- Looks like Zoidberg from Futurama. Soul Calibur 4: 1-A bit over designed. 2-Good idea with the snow monkey design Soul Calibur 5: 1-Great idea with the skeleton Samurai. 2-nice idea with the Tengu look Soul Calibur 6: Looks less like a ninja and more like a demon
My favourite is Tekken 3. He was one of the iconic characters and one of the reasons that made Tekken 3 so recognizable. Everyone knew that Alien/Ninja/Samurai/Cyborg hybrid. Second place is Tekken 5. 5 was also the last time i had the most fun with yoshimitsu before they changed his fighting style. Kinda like Tekken 4. Though i think without the wings he would look better. From SC series i like the SC2 outfit
I actually prefer his alternative in soulcalibur 3. It's like he tossed a squid on his face 'cause he forgot his mask or something, I love it. One of my favorite designs.

You keep idolizing his T3 outfit, but show his Tag 3rd alternate outfit. lol THAT's the best one. T3 armor, but his shorts are black and have gold on them. 2nd best (if we're just combining his T3/Tag one) imo is his skeleton beetle. I also really like the squid. 4th place....It's hard to say. Maybe his T4 alternate. Good callbacks, not overdesigned, it's just a good costume. I personally HATE the SC outfits. And the ones that look okay are ruined by the dumb flag.

The Japanese voice makes SC6's Yoshimitsu outfit even better. The English one just doesn't fit at all. Like, why didn't they make it a deeper voice closer to his Japanese one?

It made sense. The games have Silk Road stages. Always made me think he was tailing arms merchants, looking for one of the blades.

The flag has its importance though, It is a Ashigaru flag that common soilder in fedual Japan had at their back when fighting.
I think it represents Yoshimitsu as the leader of commoner against Higher class of noble or Lords
