I am an INTP and I don't get rid of things that remind me of my past. At least not things that I consider positive memories. I have most of my old games with their boxes. I have my pokemon cards from when I was in jr high which in todays climate are worth thousands but I just can't part with them. I even have a small stuff animal an girl I have a past with gave me and I can't get rid of it either. Otherwise I am kind of a minimalist.
I've been best friends with my now INTP boyfriend for years. Ever since we first met I'd send him Christmas cards every year and end up writing a whole essay in them. Eventually I'd send a simple Christmas card with pages-long letters reminiscing about the year and our friendship. When we started dating he showed me that he had saved every single card and letter. Made my heart melt.
Oh god, with this and the Ti child explanation I can already see how projection of Ni child (ISTP) has played a part in my life. I've always thought some abstract connections and whatnot could be "fun", but if someone is being serious about them I can't help but have a metric ton of internal skepticism when hearing Ni doms talk about their visions/plans, it's hard not to be mentally dismissive or think "Yeah right, good luck with that". Looking forward to the Ni child video (and the rest as well).
ISTP here ...I totally relate....especially when people are too optimistic or pessimistic (in my view) about the future. Ti is a good catalyst for that too, because it is sooo easy to pick apart their arguments.
Watching this INFP collection of videos has really helped me to better understand myself & this video in particular has really helped me to understand the FiSi loop dangers, I've definitely been there & knowing how it works is really going to help me get out faster the next time I find myself stuck there! Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the cognitive functions & how they work with us, it's a genuine pleasure to continue to learn & grow with every video of yours I watch! **Also, side note, that example of why Amanda's husband keeps the physical DVD cases is going to really help my cause the next time I try to explain my CD cases to my ENTP spouse, thank you for not editing that example out!
As another INFP with a massive movie collection I can say don’t get rid of your DVD/Blu Ray/4K cases. Those help protect the discs and make for a very aesthetic nice look on shelves. If you have the room to keep them don’t get talked into throwing them out. You will regret it. There is nothing unhealthy about enjoying a physical media collection on the shelf.
My type is INTP, pretty definitely so. Whether or not it's something that correlates with type categories or how you might want to explain it, I can certainly answer your question at 7:45. I am absolutely terrible at unwillingly hoarding random tat because I'm hopelessly sentimental about items if they relate to past people or events. Especially little knick-knack type Christmas/birthday presents that someone's obviously just got me as a token/joke present: even if I've long forgotten who gave it me, if I know it was a present it's really distressing to throw it out. But more than that, say a napkin from a restaurant that a good friend has folded into an origami shape and I've happened to put in my pocket. Once I've initially kept it, it'll get added to the mountain of stuff that follows me round and can never get discarded: events and memories, my life, my history, crystallised into physical form. The DVD thing sounds like the exact sort of thing I'd do, although I think I'd describe it not so much as for the meaning or principle of purchasing an item as the memory of doing so. I'm sure everyone does this to some extent, but I get the impression from comparison with others that I'm way up at the end of the spectrum!
6:55 I have kept my beyblades (spinning tops) that i played back when i was a child as a collection of some sorts. And I was devestated when i found out that my aunt threw it away along with its boxes. the memory i had playing with my friends, fighting with our beyblades. gone. then i my parents bought new ones ( they were all original beyblades takara tomy brand). only to found to be stolen few months after (along with my aunt's laptop. serves her right for the price of my beys). . . I could buy new ones now, but i rather have the ones that i lost.
I have an ISTJ sister who I get along famously with. We really connect over our Si gripes and how nobody does anything correctly, so I don't really get that hate for si users. Or, maybe I actually am an ESTJ like I kind of suspect. Maybe I'm ambivert. Thanks for the vid girls!
ENTJ mother of an INFP son and INTP bf... Si child drives me a little crazy in them at times... I have to admit but I do view them both as immature at times but for different reasons... lol. Of course my son is 14 years old do a lot of that is because he’s a teen haha 😂
I deeply relate to the ENFPs INFP husband. I got boxes of dvds. It’s a nostalgia thing. I associated great feeling when I buy or hold the dvds. It started in childhood when I get excited when my parents but new vhs tapes. I also kept Starbucks cups from my college days when my best friend and I would watch movies and drink coffee. Same with movie stubs, coin tokens from places I’ve visited, etc. I just bought a big ass box to hold all these “useless” items. But these items mean a lot to me. I kinda want to talk about these items to my kids/grandkids one day. Don’t care if other folks thinks it’s lame or too sentimental. Lol 😆-INFP
I feel like the child function mocks the function. So the INTP uses the Si in perhaps a fun or playful way but it's kind of mocking and can seem that way to Si parent or hero types. I throw stuff out. I do have a few CD but there's no place to play them so I junk them.
Your reference to DVD Collection is so accurate. I have been collecting DVDs for so long, I even have a Titanic VCD since 2000, and haven't thrown it till now. Each DVD reminds me of the time/situation I bought it. Do you think Si Hero would also collect stuff or are they more balanced and mature when it comes to hoarding?
I have an INTP dad and an ISFJ mom. They do both collect stuff. And after a period of time they decide to get rid of the stuff of the other person to solve the problem. Then they have a last look of what the partner is going to sort out and put it back in the house.
look you can throw me out of my house but don't you ever dare to throw the boxes of my PC parts unless it's an emergency item I bought. that's what I told my mother with a burning rage.
Thanks for this video 🥺 But actually i have another take on this. I know you have said that we can use aux Ne to actually grow, but in MY experience, it seems to not be working. Sure, i can dream of all the potentials that I can do in the world and explore possibilities and just explore the world more, but i actually feel that Ne just makes things worse. Especially for me, coz i will be dreaming about what i could/possibly do that i am just comfortable with the IDEA of doing, but NOT ACTUALLY DOING IT for its own sake. Actually i also think that INxPs might have the hardest time just doing things, exploring things in the outside world because they lack one CRUCIAL FUNCTION that EVERYBODY loves in this real, practical world. It's Se. In my experience, sure, i can use auxillary Ne to actually dream of what i can do, explore a broad range of interests and what not, but i have to be REALLY HONEST, it just doesn't even work if the INxP wants to do something impactful in the world, or just get their ass out doing things that they wanna do or should do. They just become stuck in the idea of doing what they could do, but NEVER ACTUALLY DOING IT. I personally think that in this case, purely using auxiliary Ne is not going to take you anywhere. I think they (myself too) need to actually develop our weakest functions; trickster Se and inferior Te/Fe. Without these functions, we are just only gping to be stuck in our Ne daydreaming and our Si comfort bubble that we have no chances of tapping into our potential. Sorry this is my opinion so i might be wrong :') but personally i feel i rlly need to develop trickster Se and inferior Te or honestly the world is not going to go easy on me....... And i also think that since you two have said in the video that INxPs might need to take things less personally from Si doms since the majority of people out there uses Si, this just gives more weight that INxPs should develop trickster Se. They need to accept the fact that many people are like this and not assume them as being childish or close minded. I have too many moments whereby i clashed so much with my Si dom parents that haiz i just wished that i can take their comments and criticisms less personally by just accepting this is their opinion, not mine. My ISFP younger sister seems to be very good at just accepting my parents' opinions while i kept wanting to tell my parents like "well, you're wrong and you are being close minded" kind of thing :')

Im sentimental about my personal things too but if I feel the need to throw it due to space constraints I will ahahahhah
This video helped alot. I think i've been caught in this loop all of my 20's looking back now

Can relate to this as an INFP. I got adidas tracksuit jacket for over 10 years and still wearing it. I still have their tags and price.
Where are the stats where certain population are certain mbti type?

At the 9:30 mark did you mean INTP when you said ISTP?
I heard that too and I think she means INFP.
How do I get in touch?
I believe in this work more than maybe anybody. Long story.
Hey friend! Sorry for the delay. You can contact us on FB/IG or through email at typecastheroes@gmail.com 🖤
infp and intp are sleeping giants
mostly the sleeping part
Yeah sleeping sloth giant
Hey I'm an INFP who is interested in being interviewed for your project. I'm on discord and if possible would like to connect through there. Best!
