So I feel like I need to explain the SATA power connector needed to power the H60. So all Omens come with a M.2 NVME SSD hard-drive that is connected to the motherboard and the majority of Omens come with a 3.5" mechanical SATA hard-drive ( the one in the upper hard-drive cage ). The bottom hard-drive cage is going to be empty and there will be 2 connectors loose in the case, one of them is a SATA DATA cable and a SATA power cable ( labeled P5 ); these cables are meant to be for if you add an additional SATA hard-drive like a 2.5" SSD or 3.5" HDD. For the Corsair H60 to work properly, you will need a SATA power connector ( the one labeled P5 ). So say you already added another hard-drive to your system, that P5 cable would already be in use, so you would not be able to use this AIO. You would have to change out the PSU so you had additional SATA power connector, or take that drive out of the system. I hope that explains it. I worked hard on this video guys and if you didn't notice, I actually reverted the Omen BACK TO STOCK to show this tutorial, meaning I had to completely disassemble the PC twice, because I had the Noctua U9S backing plate on there before. Please leave a like for the effort I put into filming this! Comment below if you prefer the look of the Noctua U9S air cooler or the Corsair H60! For those interested, here was my original cooler replacement video for the U9S: ruclips.net/video/lDjr7-7NBko/видео.html Thank you for watching guys!!
I think I understood you correctly. Regarding the SATA power, if you do have a second drive that requires the SATA connection in the second bay as well, you can get a SATA power splitter that would take the second SATA connector and split it out so you could power both the second drive and the AIO. Or you could use the splitter off the first HDD SATA power connector to power both HDDs and use the second connector for the AIO. Just a suggestion, if someone want to have their cake and eat it too so to speak without having to replace the power supply.
I tried to make it the least confusing I could but it was hard to explain. Omens have the SATA daisy chain that powers the RGB controller / 3.5” hard-drive / the free cable for adding an additional hard -drive. I was going to mention a SATA splitter but didn’t want to make it more confusing. I’ll go ahead and edit the description to include a SATA splitter.
So I've used your videos to add a few fans and now I want to upgrade my 30L's CPU cooler. I'm curious if you prefer the Corsair or the noctua? Is there much difference in performance?
I’ve had my Omen 30L PC since April. It was (and still is) my first PC. I’ve ran into a lot of problems, but mainly that had to do with me being a noob in the PC world. I’ve watched a lot of videos about PC’s and I’m fairly comfortable replacing some parts within the PC. Once I noticed your channel, I felt so relieved because you make things so much easier to understand. I watched a couple of your videos about installing Noctua fans and replacing the stock fans and I sit at about 37-42 degrees celsius when idle (compared to the mid 40’s and almost low 50’s). I took off the stock CPU fan and put a Noctua fan on it just for now, and I’m still trying to find a new CPU cooler. I’m not really a huge fan when it comes to AIO coolers, but I’ll definitely consider getting it. I know I ranted a ton, but I genuinely wanted to thank you for making my life much easier when it comes to PC’s.
Hey! I appreciate you writing this comment and I’m glad my videos make it easy for you to understand! If you aren’t a fan of AIO coolers like this, I did upload a tutorial for the Noctua U9S air cooler, which may be more up your alley! I posted a link in the pinned comment on this video as it’s the original one I did. Omen is a great PC to start off with!
@@DanKamYouKnow Absolutely! I have to admit, I was a little skeptical about the PC at first. But after I messed around with some things and improved my fans, I’m very happy with what I have so far. Appreciate your help, and I’m looking forward to your future vids!
I just purchased a h60 last week. I love it. It took my cpu temps for mid 70s to mid 50s while gaming. And gpu is now high 60s. It took me a couple hrs to install, because I never touched a pc before. Plus a couple trips to home depot for the t15 and screws. Lol
I just installed my Noctua cpu cooler and followed the steps in one of the videos you posted, thank you for making these videos they help a lot a lot !!!!
@@DanKamYouKnow Hi Dan. Thanks for the confidence you gave me, I was initially planning on just replacing the rear and cpu fan because I was afraid to handle the motherboard. Eventually I’m really happy I chose to do the whole deal; the H60, 2 Noctua fans (120 & 90mm) for the bottom and one as replacement for the stock rear fan. My Ryzen 9 3900 was hitting the 95c limit and is now down 25-30!! degrees under load while being silent! Thanks for all your hard work and teaching me A LOT!
Just added a cooler master AIO to my 25L. Just wanted to say thanks because i couldn't have done it without your video's. Next upgrade is new case because this one is the worst! Thanks again!
That’s awesome and I am super happy that my videos were helpful for you. Thank you for the comment. You’ll love having a new case because it opens you up to so many different fan and cooler options too!
hey dan! just bought this aio today for my 25L and followed this tutorial. thanks for it i wouldnt have done it without you! also it works great right now
Regarding SATA, you can get a splitter for the SATA power connector. Obviously most people don't have one of these on hand, but it would work and you could keep all the drives.
Notification gang 😊 you’re the goat thank you so much for doing this!!! The wait was definitely worth it, now I can have confidence installing mine thanks to you👍
@@DanKamYouKnow so my package came in yesterday and I started at 10pm it was rough but I was able to do it thanks to you! However I have one problem I for the life of me can not reconnect the little antenna to the wifi card/Bluetooth module. I was able to reconnect one and spent like a good hour trying to reconnect the second one but no luck. I decided to try tried one last time because it’s so late now(3:25 am my time lol) and I accidentally ended up disconnecting the one I had connected 💔 Do you have any tips on reconnecting the antenna?
Nice work!! So the antennae are a pain, you just have to make sure the head of that connection is straight with the “post”. I found using your fingernail to press down is the easiest way. Glad you got the cooler installed properly 👍🏻
It's gonna look so good in my white omen case just waiting to grab both a CPU and cooler before I do my install will definitely come back for reference
I would honestly recommend the Noctua U9S air cooler. While it may not suit some people’s preference, it performs the best out of any cooler I’ve found. I think it matches the Omen aesthetic really well, too. amzn.to/4bfyd7w I also made a tutorial on it to: ruclips.net/video/lDjr7-7NBko/видео.htmlsi=LaThUiiOMPE3LNCA
Omg I need this tutorial 6 months ago 😂😂😂 you don’t know the struggle I when thru so many parts return 🤣🤦🏽♂️. I saw all your videos so I can figure out my build thank god I managed to put everything I want and it work nice. Thanks to your earlier tutorial. I wanna send you some pictures I got a thermal take AIO full RGB with 3 fan hook to it both side of the radiator and one on the bottom full RGB also, 750F Corsair Power Supply RGB version this one was tricky but got it done. And 32GB corsair vengeance pro 32000Mhz full RGB ddr4 Ram, your Ryzen Master tutorial help me so much with this. Just wanna say your videos been a great help.
@@DanKamYouKnow yesss I know hard to believe but I manage that. Next PC Showcase you do let me know I’ll send you videos and pics if you interested in seeing my build. But listen you Ryzen Master tutorial and your tear down video help me so much I even bought those tools kits you had, they make things soooo much easier 😮💨. Great channel tons of good info and I like that you always safe, everything you show on your videos you always warned people if you do this you can damage this and that I love that. Cause it save me the headed of Damaging my computer. Great work 👍 keep doing Omen videos man you won’t think it but your helping out alot of people like me. I love my HP Omen 30L but it is a pain to upgrade honestly, beautiful computers but they’re not very upgraded friendly.
So happy I could help! I appreciate your support and will continue to make helpful videos 🤝. I do have my Discord links down in the description for this video if you want to send pics to either Discord listed.
at 21:16 where do you get the screws from to out on the corsair h60? and will anything happen to my pc if I dont attach the screws and the attenanes from my wifi card came off do you know how to pull them back on?
They came with the kit, I explain at 6:14 in the video. Use your thumbnail to reattach the WiFi antennae to the card, it’s a pain in the butt to do. If you don’t connect then, your WiFi signal will be pretty weak. If you’re using Ethernet, don’t really need to worry about it.
This is another great video for anyone considering an aio in the Omen. But personally, would you pick it over the Noctua for this situation ? I never really believed in 120mm aio’s in comparison to a great aircooler. Too bad the case does not support 240mm. But again, great video with clear, easy to follow instructions.
Thanks Kevin! I myself prefer the Noctua U9S but that’s personal preference. This AIO has gotten very similar results to the U9S so it’s a very valid option for Omen users. The mass majority of people prefer the looks of AIO’s, so I thought I should cover doing this install too. Omen case is limiting for sure.
Hey there you probably won’t read this but i need a little help, so today i took my graphics card out (i was trying to reseat it just because😅) and after i put it back in and connected all the cables i just got no display, I’m pretty sad because it was a gift from my parents could you help me? I already tried reseating it just in case it was a loose connection but i still got no display even tho all the rgb and fans were working
@@DanKamYouKnow I’m kind of a pc noob but i think the gpu is fully seated because when put it back in it made a click, also another thing that i noticed is that the rgb profile i had on my omen 25l was reseted to default
I have no idea why this would happen, if you only removed and reseated the GPU. Sounds like something is not plugged in correctly. Sorry, I don't know how to help you
@@DanKamYouKnow quick update here, so it looks like when taking out my graphics card i messed up the pcie slot, i checked if my pc has warranty and it does so right now my pc is getting fixed, thank you for your help!
i really love the way u explained everything from removing the cooler system to the mother board and how to apply everything. for me for being someone who is new to gaming pc and such, i just recently got a Omen 30L ryzen 7 5800x 8-core and 3060 ti. and i really want to change my cooling system and its a bit scary cause of having to remove the mother board. ive never removed or added anything onto my pc Long story short ur explanation is very understandable even for someone who is new to removing and adding new parts. im going to subscribe and keep up with everything that has to do with gaming pc !
Hey! That’s awesome dude, welcome to the world of PC Gaming / Modifying. Happy to help and I try to explain things as clearly as possible because I remember what it’s like starting out. Plus PC components are expensive so I totally understand. Thanks for the sub 👍🏻
You probably have the old style H60 that Best Buy still sells, it’s the same procedure except you mount your fan and radiator differently, it’s outlined in this video: ruclips.net/video/xBoCzJrxtBM/видео.html
@@DanKamYouKnow i did in fact buy this from best buy but, it was in the same box as in this video not a blue & grey one. is it fine that i just go buy some screws like yours ?
Idk if this is still active video. But I bought a H60X Elite. My pump comes with two wires a 3 pin and a four pin. Would one not be needed? Also my fan comes with two wires both of them are four pin as well. The kit comes with a splitter and I have a “LC fan” connector that isn’t being used. Has anyone installed this particular kit ?
Thanks for your videos. I have the intel 10700 version. I have been running Iracing in VR and heat has been an issue. I’ve been getting thermal throttling for quite some time at some tracks( I was not smart enough to realize what was going on at the time). I can’t wait to install one of these and see how much it improves performance. I’ve had my Omen 25 for maybe a year. I hope I didn’t kill my cpu too much. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for your hard work.
CPU's are designed to be ran at very high temps for long periods of time. Even if you were close to it's max temp, the CPU will throttle itself to prevent damage. This cooler will reduce temps by about 20c-25c under a benchmark 👍
U can just not unplug the cables BUT make sure u do not tug anything make sure u handle it extremely carefully dont make any sudden movements dont hold it at awkerd angels, as long as you put the bracket in without breaking anything you should be fine i did it myself
Powering RGB with an Omen is not very easy, hence why I went with the H60 that doesn’t have RGB. You will need multiple adaptors to power the RGB on it and I’m not really sure how it’s done.
I have an Omen 30L. Would I be able to install the Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT, 240mm Radiator in my Omen and, if so, can I use this same installation process? Thanks for the awesome instructional videos.
Hey! 240mm radiators will not fit in an Omen case unfortunately. And RGB is tricky and kind of a pain to power in an Omen. Only 120mm AIO’s will fit properly.
Strictly for content purposes. Lots of people prefer the AIO look so I wanted to do a tutorial for it as well. I myself actually prefer the U9S look, and it does outperform the H60 by a few degrees as well.
I got my 25L from a friend as my last pc was ruined in a house fire that spread from my neighbors, and I am with you all the way until the pump plugging part, mine has the pump slot and its labeled but it looks like a 4 pin, not a 3 pin, is there a way around that or is it just the motherboard that they used and I need a new motherboard? My motherboard is an Omen GT11 8704? Edit: I just realized I am also looking to buy the H60x not the regular H60, Idk if that makes any difference at all?
You probably wont see this, but i have an issue. I bought a thermalright frozen notte 240 for my omen(new case also) and i wantwd to install the cooler. However the bracket is not fitting since its square, and the intel bracket has a too small hole(rectangle not square like amd) so i cant fit my cooler since the stock omen bracket is too short to reach... if you read I appreciate your time!
So I bought this model in 2023, It came with a cooler master 120mm, intake fan, outtake fan, and cpu fan. I've heard from stock they overheat badly but this seems to be an "upgrading" version from prior years. Is this legit or not? My temps when gaming hover from 70-80.
They changed the Omens. They finally listened to community feedback and made some changes. Most Omens generally run pretty warm but safe. 70-80 is totally good.
In the instruction from corsair, it says the pump should be connected to the CPU_FAN and the fans should be connected to the pump cables. But you did it different. I changed that to test and realized the fan started to spin in maximum speed if conected directly to the motherboard. When it is connected to the pump, the pump will control the fan speed.
Yes, on a normal motherboard, where fan speeds can be adjusted through the BIOS, but this is an Omen where nothing is adjustable. For an Omen, the pump should be connected to the pump slot, which will keep it spinning at a higher RPM, all the time. The radiator fan should be connected to the CPU fan header so the fan speed can vary, depending on load. My Omen, which is still being used by my girlfriend works just fine in this configuration.
Also, what do you mean by the fan should be connected to the pump cables? The radiator fan is a regular 4 pin connection, which only plugs into the radiator
@DanKamYouKnow My model is the H60, but maybe an updated version. The pump came with the SATA cable, the 3 pin pump connector, and two 4 pin fan connectors. It means the fan is connected to the pump, not in the motherboard. So that the pump controls the fan rotation.
I think I saw your comment on the Omen Discord but there isn’t any other space to do anything at the top. This AIO will drop temps significantly though.
Thank you Dan. I just installed new RAM in my Obelisk. As soon as I get enough courage im going to upgrade to a cooler too. Question: I see you handling the motherboard with your bare hands; What precautions should I take to not damage the motherboard while installing the cooler? Or is it not an issue for modern computers?
They say you should try to ground yourself before working on PC's, I honestly just jump right in and do the work. They do make anti static wrist straps if you want to be overly cautious.
Thank you. I just installed the H60 into my Obelisk and it's working pretty good. I just wished the radiator and fan were attached to the ceiling of the PC case with more than two small screws on the same side of the plate. I wonder why they designed the case like that?
I got the H60 Elite and it's different, has a bunch more wires. Pretty annoying too because the Omen motherboard really doesn't accommodate it. Plus the Omen has the weird little proprietary RGB board in the bottom of the case that makes everything much more complicated or just not even work. Looks like the motherboard will be the final thing to switch out. At that point only the case itself will be an original Omen part. I see now why people say be careful of pre-builds. All the proprietary parts. It actually is easier to just buy all the parts and put it together yourself. Then at least it's all modular and standardized and not weird proprietary parts.
Pre-builds can be bad, but they also introduce new users on how computers work and are put together. I always recommend Omen users to build out of their proprietary motherboard and swap cases.
@@DanKamYouKnow yeah i don't regret getting it. I used to build my own many, many years ago (the 486 days), but was just lazy about 1.5 years ago and just bought the Omen. I liked the case and it was hard to get a GPU at the time so 'two birds one stone'. But of course I immediately started replacing almost everything, lol. It's hard not to tinker with them. Trying to get the H60x Elite CPU cooler working today. After that I want to upgrade the CPU from Ryzen 5 5600g to Ryzen 9 5900x. After that I need to decide if I keep using this case and get a new microATX board for it,.. or get a new bigger case and an ATX board for it. You're right the Omen has been a fun machine to tinker with. They didn't have RGB when I was building computers though so all that is a bit confusing. And all the different brands and varieties of ways it's done seems unnecessarily convoluted, but I'm figuring it out. Your channel has been a lot of fun to watch though. Thanks, and appreciated.
I'm wanting to get the new H60 aio but I have no idea how to install it as you said it has more cables. Do you know where I need to plug them all in to?
@@iris89936 Honestly, I would go with the Noctua U9S air cooler. Easier to install, no cables needed, and does perform better than the H60. I also did a tutorial on it if you are interested.
I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and this one seemed to be the newest. Would this solve the problem? Or would you recommend another mod as well in addition to this one?
Great. I’ve only removed the graphics card to get to the 2nd ssd slot to install a Samsung 990 pro with heat sink but feel way more confident after watching your videos.
Hey man! This video was very easy to follow, and thank you for your hard work on making it easy to understand. I am new to PC gaming, and the PC world in general, so this was not easy to accomplish. However, I hit a wall. After following your instructions and replacing the fan, I can no longer turn the desktop on and am having troubleshooting the issue. Would you have any ideas on what I may have done wrong? Thank you!
Hey, glad the video was helpful! When you hit the power button, what exactly happens? Are you positive that you have everything plugged in properly? Triple check all your connections and let me know what happens on pressing power
Hey Dan, Thank you soo much for this video. I've just upgraded my own omen with the Corsair H60. It would have taken me soo much extra time if it wasn't for your video. My GPU runs 20°C colder now. I've just got one question about the fan. Since the top-fan (radiator fan) is now an exhaust fan. Wouldn't it make sense to turn the rear fan arround and make it an intake fan? Because now you have two exhaust fans next to eachother. It feels like the rear one is now working against the radiator fan?
You’re welcome, happy to hear you got it working! With the rear fan, you can experiment and see what works best. But overall, I’d say just leave it as an exhaust fan. Flipping the fan around wouldn’t do any harm though and you could compare temps
So I bought a deepcool 620 and I am wondering do I need to take the backplate off? Or can I just attach the new brackets to these standoffs. Would love an reply!
Hey Marko, you will need to install the back plate that comes with your new cooler. Unless you do custom size screws and I’m still not sure it would work with that cooler Also, I just looked it up and the height for that cooler is 162mm, which is too tall for the Omen and your side panel will not fit back on. You need to stay under around 140mm for the cooler to fit, which is the main reason I went for the Noctua U9S at the time. Unless you have case swapped, then you should be fine, depending on the case measurements
So my buddy is doing a case swap, and he ordered the coolermaster PL360 Flux AIO. If I remove that back plate, will a classic AM4 back plate fit in those holes so we can use the AM4 black clip bracket or will I have to use intel hardware to install his AIO onto his Ryzen CPU?
Nope, ALL Omen motherboards utilize Intel spacing for their coolers. So you are going to want to use the Intel accessories that came with his AIO and it’ll work fine 👍🏻
I just installed this using your video (huge help so thank you so much!) my aio didn’t have a cable to plug into the SATA cable. I started up my pc and it’s definitely working, I’m seeing a noticeable drop off in temps. Only thing is that all of my rgb lights won’t turn on now. Probably have to go back and see if I missed a connection somewhere.
@@DanKamYouKnow Yup I figured it out! Thanks for following up! It was just a cable not being properly plugged in. Temps are easily 20+c lower than before so I really appreciate this video. I upgraded to a ryzen 7 3700x and noticed it was running hot with the stock cooler so needed an upgrade.
What exact fans did you chose and did you just replace them or put them in a spot/location, Whever there might be the space for an aditional fan? Im about to go to the shop as well for some fans (1 or 2 depending on idk what actually haha) but would love to hear how it turned out for you regarding temps? (have the i9-11900k with an 3080 version)
Before installing the fans it was overheating and super hot, not its about 40-50 degrees up and down. I dont remember the neames since it was my dad who bought them, but i can check next time im at my dads. @@Dannyp010
I would love to get some tips , I been searching through online and recently watched your videos a couple times considering other issues. I know you might not likely answer due to how old this video is , But I recently got a 40L omen pre build gaming pc , with a AMD ryzen 7600 and gpu is a 4060. The only thing that bothers me is my temps for my cpu. I realized I didn’t have a liquid cooler for my pc and was also considering a new way to keep it cool regardless, I was wondering do I have to find a specific compatibility for replacing any part that deals with fans or in general.
I'm in research phase before ordering an Omen 30L. Before getting into the AIO gear, what would be the problem with removing that plate blocking air flow in the top? Or leaving the glass side panel slightly open at the top? Mine will sit up on a table where nothing could fall inside it if people are worried about something shorting out parts.
Hey! If you’re in research mode for an Omen, I have a ton of videos of the Omen. Many of which I discuss if you don’t want to modify it yet, removing the top bracket for airflow helps quite a bit. You could also just mount a 120mm fan to that bracket, or adding one to the bottom of the case. As far as the side panel, there is really no way to keep it slightly open. It’s either latched into place or it’s not, so I would be worried about it falling. You could just leave it off but that’s not really necessary IMO.
I am not sure what you are asking. Changing the motherboard will void the warranty though. HP requires the PC to be in stock form to perform warranty work.
Hey Dan! Your videos are fantastic. I have been debating the U9S or an AIO. Would you say it's more efficient to use the U9S seeing as it's a relatively simple install with almost identical results? I use my PC primarily for gaming, and we all know what it does to our CPU's. Many people tell me that AIO's are significantly better than fan cooling in general. Would love your take on this.
Hey Justin! So under a full load ( 100% CPU utilization), the U9S came in around 70c and the H60 came in around 73c, so pretty similar results. IMO, I would do the Noctua U9S, much more simple, better results, and I think it actually looks better than 120mm AIO’s Liquid cooling is usually better because heat transfer with water is much better but air cooling is still a very viable option, even for high end CPU’s. The Omen can’t fit em but the Noctua D15 air cooler will cool as well as most 240mm and 280mm AIO’s. If you doing some major overclocking though, an AIO is your best bet. For the Omen, I think the U9S is the best choice.
if you had this in your pc why did you end up going air-cooled in the future? did it turn out better? was just wondering what would be best for my system AIO or Air-cooled
Well honestly, for the Omen, the Noctua U9S worked a bit better and I personally liked how it looks more. I originally put the U9S in but I had gotten so many requests for installing a liquid cooler, I made this video. From all the info I’ve gathered, the Noctua U9S is the best cooler for Omen 25L / 30L
What temp differences did you see changing the stock aio to a aftermarket aio? Did you benchmark the pc before the upgrade if so how many degrees difference?
Mine did not have an AIO before, mine had the stock air cooler. On the same test, I hit 93c ( Thermal throttling is 95c ) with the air cooler. I hit 73c now with the H60, so about a 20c difference. Keep in mind, the benchmark is 100% CPU utilization so playing games will be much cooler. If your Omen has the factory 120mm liquid cooler, changing to this won’t make a huge difference.
Hey great video, you did a great job explaining everything but i have a concern for myself. My motherboard does not seem to have a LC_PUMP spot jus a LC_FAN but the cpu slot says CPU/PUMP FAN
LC Fan should be the same. Basically means “liquid cooler fan”, which means a liquid cooler pump. So use the CPU fan for your radiator fan and water block connection on LC
Hmm, this H60 model seems to be a bit newer than the one sold at Best Buy. I bought the H60 two weeks ago and it didn’t have rgb or a sata power connector, and installation process is a bit different. I’m not missing the rgb at all, but it’s kinda weird that there are two different Corsair products going by the same name.
I didn’t realize it at the time but my H60 is a newer model. The one you have is the original model they have been using since like 2014. Yours only has a 3 pin connection on the pump and the radiator mounts different with the fan. I originally wanted that one because it didn’t have SATA power but Amazon had the one I’ve got.
Hello, the cooler didn’t pop up but it did slide a bit from left to right a cm or so while screwing in. My idle went from 50c to 38-40c. Pretty good! But Do you recommend me to reapply the paste since it did move?
Nice results! If you have extra thermal paste, it would be really easy to remove the 4 pump nuts, clean the CPU, and repaste. I am sure you are fine though.
Hi Dan .. I've got a 30L and I want to change the omen cpu cooler to a AIO I've noticed there's an additional cable on the cooler from the power cable maybe an RGB? is that the case and if so we're does the cable lead to ? Thanks.
Omen motherboard do not have traditional RGB connectors so you wouldn't just be able to plug it in ( assuming this cable is for the RGB ). Powering RGB with an Omen is a pain in the butt and requires multiple adaptors and just seemed like a headache, so I never used RGB components. Might want to ask on my HP Omen Discord, someone may know
@@DanKamYouKnow well I actually ordered the rgb version of this but this tutorial works just fine for that one it’s basically the same aio just RGB and the install went good BUT for some reason my computer won’t detect the aio so neither will ICUE but I mean it works 🤷♂️ I tried everything but it guessing it’s just compatibility barriers
That’s why I went non RGB is because Omen motherboards and industry standard RGB don’t work well together. I probably should of mentioned that in the video because I get a lot of comments on it. HP seems to block all this access for 3rd party software like iCue, it’s really annoying. At least your cooler is functional in lowering temps
love the videos man, i have a ryzen 5 air cooled cpu and geforce rtx 3080 in my omen 30L. i lowered my cpu volatage to 1.018 and my cores to 3850 is that too low? my games run fine at ultra settings and and my cpu is stays around 50-60 celsius celcius which i feel is a good thing but im worried im under powering my cpu. Im new to changing settings like this so any help would be appretiated
Thank you!!! That’s a pretty strong undervolt but temps are solid and if you are happy with the performance, keep rocking it! You could always raise the core voltage by small increments upward until you find a sweet spot between temps / performance. 👌🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow also I have another question. If I accidentally unplug one of the antennas on the WiFi card, I just pop it in again because I am having some trouble with that.
Yes, you can plug it back in but it is very difficult to do so. I found using your thumb nail is easiest, you just gotta line it up and press down. It’s definitely a pain in the butt though.
Hi Dan, I am confused, I watched your video but I do not know where to connect the wires from the pump as well from the fan. I have a B560M-Plus WIFI TUF Gaming Motherboard and CPU Cooler corsair iCUE H60i RGB PRO XT, the MB has 2 connectors a CPU fan and CPU OPT and 2 other connectors cha fan 1 and 2, all are male connectors, the pump has 2 four pin male connector a power sata and a 3 pin female connector with only one wire, the fan that came with it has a 4 pin female connector. Can you help me out please
This tutorial was for an Omen motherboard but, you probably want to connect the pump to the CPU fan header, then use the BIOS fan curve adjustments to dial in the curve you want for the pump.
I’ve had my omen for about a year now. It’s been doing me great. But the cpu is always hot. I’ve been looking for coolers, I’ve been looking at the scythe Fuma 2, but idk if it’ll even fit in my omen 30l. So I’m just at some conflictions looking for different coolers
Hello there, first of all english in not my native lenguage so sorry if i say something wrong. I have the Omen 30L with i7 11700 and 3060Ti and the temperature of CPU package is going to 95 degrees and i think thats not normal temperature of working, im looking for install the CPU cooler showed on the video. But as you said in the comments that the Noctua U9S is better than the corsair AIO. Can you que explain why, since i read on internet that the AIO is better than airflow CPU coolers. And which one is harder to install.
The U9S gives slightly better results, but it isn’t a massive difference. I personally think that the Chromax U9S matches the aesthetic of the Omens a bit better. While I do like AIO’s, I don’t think it’s as fitting for the Omen chassis.
Planning on doing this, is it better to have the pipes going on the right side or is it not physically possible? If you mentioned it, and I missed it, I apologize
You can place the tubes in pretty much any orientation but it might be hard to mount it on the right side. The tubes “flowed” more naturally to the left side but you can try it!
They are both very close but the U9S kept the CPU slightly cooler than the H60. Only by a couple Celsius though. Either option is a vast improvement over the stock CPU cooler.
There is no plug, Omens don’t have a typical 12v or 5v RGB plug like most normal motherboards =\. I’m not sure how you’re going to be able to power it. Someone may have some kind of workaround online but I don’t know how you’re going to do it.
I have what looks like the same AIO. But your has 2 wires. Something about the P5 cable. Mine didn’t come with it. Followed the vid to the “T”. Now i have no power at all. Any ideas?
One of the connectors from the pump should a 3 pin and a SATA connector that the P5 cable is plugged in to. The PC has no power at all? I would triple check all your connections, ESPECIALLY the power button connector
Dan I had a question, does omen 25L support rgb fans and if not is there a way to make rgb/argb fans work on omen 25L? If possible could you make vid about it.
Getting RGB to work in an Omen is way too much work and most of the RGB software, won’t even work with the Omen motherboard. It’s a big part of the reason all my Omen upgrades I did back then were non RGB. There’s no straight forward way of getting RGB to work unfortunately
So can I purchase whatever graphics card I want for this pc? I have the HP omen 30L and I want a better GPU but I wanna make sure it’ll work and fit right? Any advice?
I noticed a lot of people put the fan as an exhaust, but the manufacturer recommends putting it as an intake. Can someone explain why please. New to pc building.
@@DanKamYouKnow okay, because I did the same thing as your video (Thanks by the way. That was my first time taking out and messing with the motherboard) but I was just wondering if it would be better for the fan if the tubing was on the right side instead.
Couple questions, what were your temps prior to adding the Corsair and what is your fan setup, i.e. how many intake and how many exhaust. Thanks for the vid.
On the same R23 multi-core test, I used to hit 93c with the stock air cooler, dropped almost 15-20c with the H60. The best fan setup with the H60 is just having the bottom mount 120mm intake fan and replacing the rear 92mm fan. And then of course, the 120mm exhaust fan on the radiator
No, you have to utilize the cooler backing plate that came with the H60. It is possible with 10-12mm screws to use the stock backing plate, but it’s guess work and you don’t have any idea how little or how much pressure you are putting on the CPU
@@DanKamYouKnow Hi Dan, thanks for your respons. To bad, I was hoping the nut-bolt thing would act as a spacer. I opened the case for now, tilting the lid, which gave a substantial temperature drop especially on the CPU.
Hey Dan, So I had installed my H60 and followed the video step by step. The issue I have now is my PC will not power on. I have an RGB mouse pad plugged into PC that lights up when the PC is plugged in so I'm sure the PC is getting power. I spent hours checking each connection and making sure there aren't any bent pins on the connectors and referencing pics I took beforehand, but nothing. Have any advice?
@@DanKamYouKnow so messing around with it more, I found out that the back side of USB ports have power, but not the top ones next to the power button. I flipped the two pin power button plug each way and nothing
People have put in 240mm AIO’s but it’s kind of a sloppy install. They basically use the top bracket, which is only supposed to support a 120mm but people bolt half of a 240mm AIO to it lol. I’d recommend just getting rid of the Omen case for something with good air flow
DanKamYouKnow. Hello, I have a big question ❓ because I watched your video on the noctua air cooler heat sink. But my Omen 25L motherboard is way different then the one you have in your video. Idk what you call thoughs things around cpu cooler. They look like MOSFETs are a little chips sets. I just wish I could send you pictures of my board so can see what it I'm referencing To clarify I haven't the noctua air cooler yet! Because I'm worried that won't fit the way my board is set up. So basically Best way I can describe it is there little heat sink "around" my stock CPU cooler. so idk if the noctua clean over those? If you can try reaching out or if anything one else has any information please leave a comment?
For those interested, here was my original cooler replacement video for the U9S:
ruclips.net/video/lDjr7-7NBko/видео.html
Thank you for watching guys!!
What graphics card are u using here
My Omen came with an RX5700 AMD GPU.
So I've used your videos to add a few fans and now I want to upgrade my 30L's CPU cooler. I'm curious if you prefer the Corsair or the noctua? Is there much difference in performance?
Dan out here fulfilling viewer requests! Going above and beyond for us HP Omen users! Thank you!
Appreciate it 🤝🤝🤝
I’ve had my Omen 30L PC since April.
Yup, the Omen in stock form is a decent computer, but can be made really good with a few tweaks. Thanks!!
Got an HP Omen 30L about a week ago and your videos have been a lifesaver. Thanks for the information! Love the videos!
Thanks Jerry! Congrats on the new PC!
I just purchased a h60 last week. I love it. It took my cpu temps for mid 70s to mid 50s while gaming. And gpu is now high 60s. It took me a couple hrs to install, because I never touched a pc before. Plus a couple trips to home depot for the t15 and screws. Lol
So weird how they used Torx for the CPU cooler! Glad you got it going and your results look great 👍🏻
I just installed my Noctua cpu cooler and followed the steps in one of the videos you posted, thank you for making these videos they help a lot a lot !!!!
You’re welcome! Happy my videos were helpful! 🤝🤝🤝
Literally bought a H60 for my Omen 20 minutes ago and here's the video already. We think alike! Thank you Dan 👍
That's awesome! Hope this will be helpful for you! 👍👍👍
You’re welcome! Your machine is going to be running great after all that!
@@DanKamYouKnow could you use the magnetic screwdrivers in the description instead of the screwdrivers you use?
Yup, any screwdriver really. The magnetic tips help with keeping the screws on the end of the screwdriver.
Just followed this video tutorial with my son. Everything went perfectly. Thank you so much for doing these videos.
Happy to hear!! Thanks for the comment Robert
Man is doing god's work. Just wanna say I appreciate the time you take to help us bro!
No worries 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Love making these videos 😎
hey dan! just bought this aio today for my 25L and followed this tutorial. thanks for it i wouldnt have done it without you! also it works great right now
Hey! That’s great dude, so glad you are happy with it. Thanks for the comment, appreciate you
Always great to see your tutorial vids, easy to follow guide with useful tips and tricks. Nice job.
Appreciate it Stephen!
Regarding SATA, you can get a splitter for the SATA power connector. Obviously most people don't have one of these on hand, but it would work and you could keep all the drives.
Yup, we already talked about this. I have added a splitter to the description already 👍🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow could you not use the LC header on the motherboard for the pump? Thats what its designed for!
That will control pump fan speed but the pump will not operate without the SATA connection.
Will a 240mm size aio fit in same space. Is it worth the upgrade. My build has a 92 mm 3-heatpipe RGB air cooler
Notification gang 😊
you’re the goat thank you so much for doing this!!!

I decided to try tried one last time because it’s so late now(3:25 am my time lol) and I accidentally ended up disconnecting the one I had connected 💔
Do you have any tips on reconnecting the antenna?
Nice work!! So the antennae are a pain, you just have to make sure the head of that connection is straight with the “post”. I found using your fingernail to press down is the easiest way.
Glad you got the cooler installed properly 👍🏻
Just did this a few days ago, dropped my idle CPU temps by 10 degrees - worth it
Nice!! Quite an improvement over the stock air cooler 👍🏻
thanks for this vid man! i recently got an omen 25L and decided i'd dive in and get the h60 for it
Definitely a great cooler for the Omen! Thank you
Another superb tutorial Dan! Always happy to see a notification for a new video of yours. Hope you and your family are well my friend.
Appreciate it! All is OK over here, and I hope you are doing well too. 🙌
It's gonna look so good in my white omen case just waiting to grab both a CPU and cooler before I do my install will definitely come back for reference
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey I noticed that the video was 2 years old. Is there a more current AIO you recommend?
I would honestly recommend the Noctua U9S air cooler. While it may not suit some people’s preference, it performs the best out of any cooler I’ve found. I think it matches the Omen aesthetic really well, too.

at 21:16 where do you get the screws from to out on the corsair h60? and will anything happen to my pc if I dont attach the screws and the attenanes from my wifi card came off do you know how to pull them back on?
They came with the kit, I explain at 6:14 in the video. Use your thumbnail to reattach the WiFi antennae to the card, it’s a pain in the butt to do. If you don’t connect then, your WiFi signal will be pretty weak. If you’re using Ethernet, don’t really need to worry about it.
Another great video, Dan.
Thanks Fredo!
Good stuff as always Dan, thank you.
Thank you!!
Have you figured out what happened? Did anything else change when you did this? Are you 100% positive that the GPU is fully seated?
@@DanKamYouKnow I’m kind of a pc noob but i think the gpu is fully seated because when put it back in it made a click, also another thing that i noticed is that the rgb profile i had on my omen 25l was reseted to default
I have no idea why this would happen, if you only removed and reseated the GPU. Sounds like something is not plugged in correctly. Sorry, I don't know how to help you

Hey! That’s awesome dude, welcome to the world of PC Gaming / Modifying. Happy to help and I try to explain things as clearly as possible because I remember what it’s like starting out. Plus PC components are expensive so I totally understand. Thanks for the sub 👍🏻
what are the screws you used at 17:04 ? i'm setting up my omen as well and i don't have the screws for this part.
You probably have the old style H60 that Best Buy still sells, it’s the same procedure except you mount your fan and radiator differently, it’s outlined in this video:
ruclips.net/video/xBoCzJrxtBM/видео.html
@@DanKamYouKnow i did in fact buy this from best buy but, it was in the same box as in this video not a blue & grey one. is it fine that i just go buy some screws like yours ?
Yeah you can, but it’s also effective to mount it how they show in the video. With the fan against the top bracket and the radiator against the fan.
@@DanKamYouKnow are the screws 8mm or lower ?
I’m not sure on their length unfortunately
Idk if this is still active video. But I bought a H60X Elite. My pump comes with two wires a 3 pin and a four pin. Would one not be needed? Also my fan comes with two wires both of them are four pin as well. The kit comes with a splitter and I have a “LC fan” connector that isn’t being used. Has anyone installed this particular kit ?
My AIO does not use the SATA power either
this is just perfect im getting the cooler soon as well
Nice!! 😎😎🤝🤝👌🏻👌🏻
nice tutorial dan on installing the cosiar h60
Appreciate it dude!
Thank you this video really helped me install this!
Awesome!!! 😎🤝👌🏻
U can just not unplug the cables BUT make sure u do not tug anything make sure u handle it extremely carefully dont make any sudden movements dont hold it at awkerd angels, as long as you put the bracket in without breaking anything you should be fine i did it myself
Will this aio work with my i7 10 gen all I keep finding is on the 30L and it AMD so I don’t know if I should buy this ?
All Omen motherboards use Intel spacing for their coolers so this will work fine for AMD and Intel Omens.
@@DanKamYouKnow okay thx
@@DanKamYouKnow so should I get this Corsair iCUE H60i RGB PRO XT, 120mm or the Corsair Hydro Series H60 AIO ? Or does it not matter ?
Powering RGB with an Omen is not very easy, hence why I went with the H60 that doesn’t have RGB. You will need multiple adaptors to power the RGB on it and I’m not really sure how it’s done.
@@DanKamYouKnow okay that make sense again thx bro
I have an Omen 30L. Would I be able to install the Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT, 240mm Radiator in my Omen and, if so, can I use this same installation process? Thanks for the awesome instructional videos.
Hey! 240mm radiators will not fit in an Omen case unfortunately. And RGB is tricky and kind of a pain to power in an Omen. Only 120mm AIO’s will fit properly.
Why the switch from Noctua U9S air cooler? It seems like you were getting better temps.
I have the exact AIO for my Omen 25L! It’s unfortunate that the case doesn’t support a duel fan aio system :(
Nice! It’s a fantastic improvement over the stock air cooler. Yeah, the Omen case is unfortunately, pretty limited on the cooling options.
Very strange. Mine only has the one fan that has a 4 pin, and the pump that has the SATA plug and the 3 pin.
Well, either way, glad you figured yours out 👍🏻
Is this the only fan upgrade? I’m going to put this cooler in. Can I do anything else on top of this for additional cooking? Thanks
I think I saw your comment on the Omen Discord but there isn’t any other space to do anything at the top. This AIO will drop temps significantly though.
Before getting Noctua air cooler I almost got this exact same aio
Can’t go wrong either way!
Not sure but I haven’t seen any issues with it though! Guess they figured the rad and fan didn’t weigh enough to break the bracket.
@@iris89936 you have to check the manual or specs for your motherboard.
@@iris89936 Honestly, I would go with the Noctua U9S air cooler. Easier to install, no cables needed, and does perform better than the H60. I also did a tutorial on it if you are interested.
Will the Corsair H60x RGB Elite Liquid CPU Cooler work?
Yes, but the RGB will not.
Ty. Just got my son one of these for Xmas and runs hot. Complete noob and trying to figure out best way to lower temps.
I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and this one seemed to be the newest. Would this solve the problem? Or would you recommend another mod as well in addition to this one?
This cooler is an awesome option if your CPU temperatures on the higher side, probably the best mod you can do for the Omen
Hey Dan,
Thank you soo much for this video.
Unless you do custom size screws and I’m still not sure it would work with that cooler
Also, I just looked it up and the height for that cooler is 162mm, which is too tall for the Omen and your side panel will not fit back on.
@@DanKamYouKnow Thank you!!
Did you figure it out? Check the Omen RGB board in the bottom right corner and the connection from there to the motherboard.
If I wanted to swap out the rear case fan, I would need 92 mm?
That’s awesome! Probably the best mod you can do for the PC’s. Yup, rear fan is 92mm 😎🤝😎
Watching this 2 years later with my new pc installing new fans and a water cooler, such good help. Thanks alot!😊
Awesome!! Happy to hear, thank you.
I know you might not likely answer due to how old this video is ,
But I recently got a 40L omen pre build gaming pc , with a AMD ryzen 7600 and gpu is a 4060.
What do you think about changing the motherboard and put the AIO on it to not lose warranty?
I am not sure what you are asking. Changing the motherboard will void the warranty though. HP requires the PC to be in stock form to perform warranty work.
Between this liquid AIO and the Noctua Air Cooler, which one do you recommend? Can you compare the thermal results and the noise levels? Thanks!
U9S will be slightly more efficient and quieter. 70c R23 benchmark compared to the 73c with the H60
I replaced the stock gpu cooler with an 80. mm noctua chromax. Is it worth to get this liquid cooler?
A different CPU cooler will make a big difference over the stock air cooler.
FROM SPAIN THANK YOU✌️
You’re welcome and greeting from California 👌🏻
IMO, I would do the Noctua U9S, much more simple, better results, and I think it actually looks better than 120mm AIO’s
Liquid cooling is usually better because heat transfer with water is much better but air cooling is still a very viable option, even for high end CPU’s.
Is that the HP 8876 motherboard? I also have a 25l and need to do some fan/cooler upgrades but the motherboard looks different...
Mine is a Moria 3 motherboard. All Omens use Intel spacing for their coolers, so you should be fine. Fan headers may differ quite a bit though
I’m watching this even tho the only part I still use from my omen is my drive
Thanks for the support my friend! Appreciate the view ❤️
Might want to ask on my HP Omen Discord, someone may know
Did the manual for the H60 instruct you on how to replace the liquid in 6 years (or however many years it says)? What do you have to do exactly?
No it did not. I would just replace it by then. Pretty sure it’s completely sealed. You’d have to contact Corsair
Thanks so much installing mine tomorrow
Nice!!! Let me know how it goes 👌🏻
@@DanKamYouKnow yeah the most important thing is the cooling
Truth 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
love the videos man, i have a ryzen 5 air cooled cpu and geforce rtx 3080 in my omen 30L. i lowered my cpu volatage to 1.018 and my cores to 3850 is that too low? my games run fine at ultra settings and and my cpu is stays around 50-60 celsius celcius which i feel is a good thing but im worried im under powering my cpu. Im new to changing settings like this so any help would be appretiated
Thank you!!! That’s a pretty strong undervolt but temps are solid and if you are happy with the performance, keep rocking it! You could always raise the core voltage by small increments upward until you find a sweet spot between temps / performance. 👌🏻
I am having trouble getting my motherboard out. What should I do because I am afraid to damage it.
It can occasionally get stuck on the case standoffs. You just have to wiggle it a bit to get it to loosen. Also may be stuck on the rear IO shield too
@@DanKamYouKnow I am almost done and I finally got it. Thank you so much for this guide and everything you do.
Best cooler for the Omen is the Noctua U9S. $70 but worth every penny.
Scythe Fuma 2 is too tall. Only 92mm coolers will fit.
As you tried both cpu cooler, AIO and Noctua U9S, which one gives u a better results? because aesthetically I see the AIO better, thank you!
The U9S gives slightly better results, but it isn’t a massive difference. I personally think that the Chromax U9S matches the aesthetic of the Omens a bit better. While I do like AIO’s, I don’t think it’s as fitting for the Omen chassis.
I have a question. Can you not just put the aio in to the old backing plate? Or does this not fit?
It does not work. You have to use the backing plate that is supplied with the new cooler.
@@DanKamYouKnow Aaah that's a shame. Thank you for the quick response! You're a lifesaver 😇
Great tutorial once again, I wonder if you can swap out the bundled fan for a Noctua one.
Yes you can and I already have! The Corsair fan is a higher RPM so it actually worked better! But it gets pretty noisy at high RPM
Could you possibly fit the Corsair iCUE H100i Elite Capellix Liquid CPU Cooler 240mm radiator on the top?
Nope, only 120mm AIO’s will fit in Omen cases.
Which one was performing better the Corsair h60 or the noctua u9s?
They are both very close but the U9S kept the CPU slightly cooler than the H60. Only by a couple Celsius though. Either option is a vast improvement over the stock CPU cooler.
@@DanKamYouKnow yeah I got the u9s not to long ago and installed it thanks to you of course
Nice! I think I still prefer the look of the U9S actually. Looks more at home and “natural” in the Omen case.
Hey Dan, I just installed my H60 RGB and couldn’t find a plug in for the RGB lights do you have any ideas on what to do?
Any advice?
Max GPU length is 280mm for an Omen case, which limits you quite a bit. Best to just swap cases
I noticed a lot of people put the fan as an exhaust, but the manufacturer recommends putting it as an intake. Can someone explain why please. New to pc building.
Intake would mean you are pulling the radiator hot air back into the case. I would use exhaust, especially on an Omen.
Is it optimal for the water cooler tubing to be in front of the fan on the left side of the case?
The orientation of the tubes doesn’t matter. You could place them either way
@@DanKamYouKnow okay, because I did the same thing as your video (Thanks by the way. That was my first time taking out and messing with the motherboard) but I was just wondering if it would be better for the fan if the tubing was on the right side instead.
No problem! Either orientation works just fine. Whichever is aesthetically more pleasing for you.
Can i take for example a 240mm aio from corsair in my 40L omen? It should be possible to set it on top of my case aint it?
Hey! Yes, that should be not problem, however; I have not had the chance to look at a 40L yet, but I do believe there is room for a 240mm at the top.
@@DanKamYouKnow so 1 intake, 2 exhaust and 1 cpu?
1 intake and 2 exhaust. Now fan on the CPU because the AIO pump is there
@@DanKamYouKnow ahhh of course, sorry and thank you again!
Could you install the fan/radiator at the bottom as an intake to get cool air moving over the radiator?
The radiator should never be below the pump. You’ll starve the pump from fluid and kill it very fast.
Hi Dan, loving your tutorials and reviews. Is it possible to swap the standard cooler for the H60 without removing the motherboard? Regards.
That definitely does help get hot air out of the case
Hey Dan,
So I had installed my H60 and followed the video step by step.
Does the PC beep at all upon start up? Try reseating your GPU and RAM. Also make sure that ALL PCIe ( GPU ) connectors are plugged in fully.
@@DanKamYouKnow so messing around with it more, I found out that the back side of USB ports have power, but not the top ones next to the power button. I flipped the two pin power button plug each way and nothing
Any chance you'd ever put a 240mm Elite Capellix in?
People have put in 240mm AIO’s but it’s kind of a sloppy install. They basically use the top bracket, which is only supposed to support a 120mm but people bolt half of a 240mm AIO to it lol. I’d recommend just getting rid of the Omen case for something with good air flow
Love the N64 shirt!

DanKamYouKnow. Hello, I have a big question ❓ because I watched your video on the noctua air cooler heat sink. But my Omen 25L motherboard is way different then the one you have in your video.
