    I actually followed your video guide on installing extra fans. I have added two 120mm Chromax fans in the case, one intake at the bottom and one at the top as an exhaust, it has helped with the cooling. I am still using the stock prism cpu cooler. My current idle temp is now a steady 35 centigrade, dropped from the previous 45. Also my fans are set to quiet in the Omen command centre.

    3 years later and your video is still helping people. My HP Omen 30L was crashing constantly during most games and couldn't even handle the Steam VR lobby screen from the Quest 2 Steam link app. Now after adding a bottom fan 120mm and swapping the stock 92mm back fan, it's running quiet and cool! Thanks!

    Just want to share some info, if you like it, you can take it with you, if not leave it as is.
    I recently bought the Hp Omen 25L with 3070 in it. From idle to gaming, the temperature was never below 60 C. It can reach max 80 C when playing FPS games. *Max CPU speed.
    If you want actual normal temps. Try using the pc in Open case. See what temps you are getting. What I am trying to say is, a good case with good airflow will be very close to your open case temp.
    It doesn't really matter how many heatsinks or fans you add to that case from HP, it just doesn't have enough outlets (holes) to carry the volume of heat generated by the components.
    So what choices do you have?
    1. Cheap and easy, use your pc open without the glass panel.
    2. Buy a new case and transfer your components.
    3. For sure get a new case and use a better cooling (aircool heatsink, or watercooled AIO/ system).
    What did I do? I went with another PC case and added a 280M AIO cooler.
    What are my temps now? 36 idle to 50 Max load.
    HP was my first prebuild and will be last, it is just not worth the money and time to solve issues that should never be there on the first place.

    • @DanKamYouKnow
      @DanKamYouKnow  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment. I have pretty much experimented with just about all configurations for the Omen and made videos on case swapping / heatsink replacement / AIO install / fan additions / etc. I do agree that the case is a limiting factor with Omens. I disagree that lowering CPU temps is not possible with heatsinks or AIO's. I have ran a Noctua U9S air cooler and a Corsair H60 AIO, and CPU temps dramatically. Almost a 20c difference under an R23 benchmark, which is 100% CPU utilization. I also case swapped which dropped that temp about 5-10c lower than that. ( ruclips.net/p/PLx9LWJcz6lN5lMqNjh_4gKG9YW5tMKHwA ). All Omen videos I made are in there including the case swap, U9S, H60, etc ).
      Also, 80c under max load ( I'm not sure if you mean 100% CPU utilization or max game load ) is completely safe, well below the throttle limit for AMD and Intel CPU's. It is a bit warm for most peoples liking, including myself though.
      Case swapping is a GREAT idea though for different AIO setups / taller and bigger air coolers / fan configurations / airflow / etc. I highly recommend it as you have as well. This video was more for people that don't want to case swap but optimize their Omen a bit better.

      The best mod you can do for your system ( the higher end 10700K’s / 3080 builds and higher ) is to swap out the case. Fans will have very little effect because the case just lacks airflow. If I had your system, I would swap out the case and opt for a 240 or 280mm AIO. Only AIO that fits in an Omen case is a 120mm and that’s just not enough for those super strong processors. Plus the 3080 gives off a lot of heat as well. I’ve seen those machines sit between 85-90c while gaming in stock form. Way too warm for my liking.

      Your system only probably draws about 400w of power. The 3700x is a 65w TDP and I think the 3070’s are about 220w ( I could be wrong ) so 550w is more than sufficient. HP would not ship a computer with an inadequate PSU.

    I ordered 4 120mm fans, the splitter, and the control to make a similar set up on my Omen 25L. The total came out to more than the Noctua CPU cooler you're using. I am planning on using the Omen cooler for at least 4 months before upgrading the CPU cooler. I think having great airflow in the entire case is probably better than just adding the CPU cooler by itself. I'm going to run some tests to see the temps before/after adding the 120mm fans.

    • @DanKamYouKnow
      @DanKamYouKnow  3 года назад +1

      It’s actually the opposite. The CPU cooler is hands down the best modification you could make to the PC. You really only have room for a top and bottom mounted 120mm fan, so you really only need 2. You could maybe double sided tape a 120mm to the front. In my opinion, I’d do the CPU cooler, top 120, and bottom 120.

    Hey man ! I ve been watching your videos and I have to say thank you so much! I have bought a pre-build omen 25L with an AMD 5 3600 and my CPU temperature while streaming and playing league of legends or brawhalla ( really weak games ) increase up to 80 and sometimes 85 degrees Celcius ofc. I have even since opened the case for more air to pass through.
    I wanted to ask you if you considered getting water cooling such as the Kraken m22 water cooling which I bought and I found extremely difficult to mount since I have to take the motherboard out entirely and I am not even sure If I will be able to mount the radiator plus thefan since you the case is really small and not the best for extra parts. My questions for you would be, is 70 to 80 degree not as alarming as it seems ? And would you advise to follow your method and install multiple fans on the inside instead of a water cooling system ?
    Thanks a ton ! And wish you a great day Dan !

    • @DanKamYouKnow
      @DanKamYouKnow  3 года назад +4

      Hey Ahmad! A 120mm liquid cooler should fit within the chassis of the Omen with no issues, but you will have to remove the motherboard. I myself went with a Noctua air cooler which has yielded better results than 120mm AIO’s and doesn’t involve mounting a radiator.
      The fan additions/replacement will slightly help with temperatures and also fan noise ( if you replace the stock HP fans ). You could always try and set your maximum processor state to 99% and your minimum processor state to 5%. That made my temperatures plummet with almost zero performance loss. But tbh, 75-85c is a bit warm but those temperatures are considered safe. You could continue to game and everything would be fine. Cooler temps will make the components last even longer though.

    I'll first begin with the fans questions
    1- I will order 4 fans, top, bottom rear and front fan. Which one are the intake fans and which one are the exhaust fan.
    2- I've heard that the bottom fan is better as an exhaust fan. (I've got my pc on my right next to the monitor)
    3- should I change the stock cpu fan? non water cooling
    4- I got a 500 ssd and I want to update it. I was thinking of buying an extra ssd. is there a slot for an extra NVMe SSD? or should I buy an HDD or a SATA SSD and which one is better and which one should I buy.
    Thank you for all these helpful videos.

    • @DanKamYouKnow
      @DanKamYouKnow  3 года назад +1

      Hey! For your fans, you’ll want your bottom fan as an intake because heat rises ( and the Omen badly needs intake fans ). Top and rear are exhaust and the front will be blowing toward the back of the system so technically an intake.
      Stock CPU fan is mediocre and a replacement might drop temps 1-2c, so not a huge change.
      Your best bet is to add an additional SATA SSD to your machine

    Have you noticed which of the 7 fans creates the loudest noise when you are maxing games?
    You mentioned you are swapping case due to bad airflow/thermals, wasn't the 7 fans enough to cool things down ?

      Thanks! With higher quality fans, their noise level goes down drastically, so even with all the fans I have now, the fan noise level is not bad at all. The component that actually creates the most noise is my GPU fan.
      Actually, as of right now with everything I have done, my Omen runs fantastic and I’m a more or less doing these mods for expand ability and channel content. New case brings more options for fans and cooler, while a new motherboard brings all the BIOS adjustments.

I just purchased an HP Omen 25L with a gtx 2060 for a very good price, it’s for my son and I did think at the time that the fans looked like a weak spot. I have a couple of questions, why didn’t you go AiO for the cpu? Like the Corsair 120mm AiO? Also have you shown us how you are running the fan controller powering the bottom 2 fans and the front fan? How is that setup working? Does this mean you cannot control those fans and they are 100% all the time?

    • @DanKamYouKnow
      @DanKamYouKnow  3 года назад +1

      So, the Omens can only fit a 120mm AIO, or an air cooler under 140mm in height. My Noctua U9S has shown better results than any 120mm AIO out there, plus I honestly like the way my air cooler looks compared to a 120mm AIO ( 280 and 360 AIO’s look sweet though ).
      The fan controller is powered off the empty SATA power plug for the 2nd hard-drive ( so you wouldn’t be able to use a 3rd drive if you use a a fan controller. ). It can hook up to 3 fans and their is a manual turning knob to set the fan speed for connected fans.

    So I have a 30l rtx 3080ti, right out of the box it runs hot just as a lot of people have suggested, but I found a way to drop my temps by 24-28 degrees fahrenheit by simply turning up the fans rpm speed via the graphics card settings.
    The turbo mode that the omen hub places the fan speed at is a joke it only has it running at 800-1100 rpms at any given time.
    However after manually adjusting the fan speed via the graphics card settings I was able to pump out 3500 rpm+ which took my pc from running at 87C to 62C.
    Now the stock fans do run loud but for over a 20C decrease I think I/you will live.
    In conclusion if you do not mind a little noise from your fans "which if you are a gamer you are using a headset anyways so yeah . . . what does it matter" and do not want to take extra time/energy/money pull up your "NVIDIA GeForce Experience setting>In-game overlay> select the big [DONE] icon>Performance>at the bottom FAN SPEED will be greyed out, select manual, turn the speed all the way up.
    Now listen to how loud your fans get, watch the RPM zoom up a couple of thousand, and watch those high numbers on your GPU start to slip away.

      Adjusting the graphics card fan curve is a great way to lower your GPU temps, but it won't have any effect on your case fans ( rear 92mm, CPU cooler fan, and front 120mm ). I am a strong believer in using MSI Afterburner to adjust the GPU fan speeds to lower temps ( or through whatever graphics card settings you used ).

      This is only too lower your GPU temps, as far as the CPU this method will have no affect.

      Rear fan should be exhaust, so the air is blowing out of the case. As for the cooler, once installed, you want the cooler to be installed on the side of the cooler that is closest to the front, and it should be blowing through the cooler, towards the rear of the case.

    As the resident IT guy in the neighborhood, I'm asked for a lot of assistance from neighbors, which I give for free. In spite of my working at an enterprise level for the Navy, gaming and related hardware is NOT in my wheelhouse. I was recently asked by the mother of a 12 YO kid to help install a gifted KRAKEN Z53 RGB and I had to tell them that it wasn't compatible with his OMEN 25L and it should be returned, which disappointed the kid, given the wow factor with lights, displayed temps and all that. I told the mom that I needed to check for compatible solutions as a way to buy some time, and then I found you and your videos. They are a family of modest means, so I ask you this: What would be a decent cooling solution for this kid? Kraken 120 (lights), Corsair H60 and/or Noctua NH-U9S or some combination thereof? • @DanKamYouKnow

      Hey Doon! Personally, the U9S is hands down the best option for Omens. I have done tutorials on the U9S and the H60 and after thorough testing, the U9S is the best cooler for the Omen case. With that installed, a bottom mount 120mm intake fan and top mount 120mm exhaust fan really do the machine wonders. The lack of USB headers on the Omen motherboards makes powering RGB difficult and most RGB software doesn’t even recognize devices plugged in. The Corsair H60 only requires SATA power which is why I decided to go with that one, because of all the requests I got for a tutorial on a liquid cooler, over the original air cooler video I did.
