A few others 1) Losing to the "apprentice" in Booster's Pass causes him to reappear in boosters tower as Snifit 4, you can then lose to 2 others in the same way to get Snifit 5 & 6 and if you lose to another he's there with them saying Booster only wants 6 Snifits 2) Mario's Jump attack actually grows in strength the more its used capping out at a rather absurd amount 3) Each level up certain bonuses will be higher 4) The Safety Ring (which you get in the Sunken Ship) isnt an accessory that gaurds against instant death like the description implies, instead it nullifies all elemental damage and Status Effects making it eaisly the most power accessory in the game, the Lazy shell and Hero's Jacket do the same thing so Equiping these 3 items on your active party makes you near invincible and absolutely cheeses the fight with Culex

How'd you find that out? & What's it cap out at? (That could make the Super Suit less of a disappointment to never get...as obtaining it by doing 100 consecutive Super Jumps is damn near impossible!)
My favorite secret was that if you died you would go back to the last save point but all your experience was still in tact. So I would save just before a star then gain lots of quick exp and die off to go back and do it all over again.

That was expected at that time. It increased replay value. Plenty of games had items you could only get at a certain time. It made you ready to look for it the next time you played it.
I was so into this game as a kid. Extra secret: when you find the casino, if you win 100 times at knife guy's look away from the finger game, you get an item called the "star egg". It was basically like a better rock candy and you could use it infinite times.

The music, the characters, the personality, the game play, the hilarious texts. Very fond memories when this game came out. I get offened everytime a so called Mario rpg comes out now. I'm looking at you paper Mario and Mario and Luigi.
That's kinda too bad, though. As he gives I believe it was 250 EXP. points. I always was around Lv.25 to 28, just with the best/my favorite equipment. (no lazy shell armor, unless I was using an (only) item healer member, or going easy mode with Peach, as it drastically lowers both attack & magic attack! In fact, I'd usually have 1 member have Work Pants to permanently boost their offense, often Geno, Mallow, or Boozer) It's a really cool feeling & look to Level Up off of Culex! Since his outro, into the level up bonus scene(s), is also like a Final Fantasy fanfare! As well as the toughest fight in the game! (also a touch even more of a challenge) It was just awesome! Imo, the most brutal secret in the game was something I never & will never really attempt to accomplish...obtaining the Super Suit! The best accessory in the game. But, 100 consecutive Super Jumps in a row?? Really?? I could barely push myself to do 30 for the (2nd best) Attack Scarf!
Ultimate Items were key, though, like Red Essence, Kerokerocola, Refresh & Pickmeup(if not using Peach. Rock Candy if so. Also someone should equip Safety Ring), Chrystalline & the one that boosts everyone's attack...Energizer?? As well as multi attack bombs like Geno Flash or Star Rain(17 hits), Ultra Jump or if the water crystal still lives ironically Ultra Flame does a ton of damage to it!
The Lazy Shell Armor alongside the Star Egg makes the Culex fight SO easy!!! I litterally sat there and watched that Star Egg animation for what felt like an eternity.

0:40 I remember reading an interview with one of the designers of the game and he joked that that hidden chest contained the Super Suit which was stolen by the dog in Monstro Town. I know he said it as a joke but that’s now my headcannon.

@@brandonwilliams6119 For Link, you have to beat Bowyer then sleep at the Rose town inn and he'll be in the bed next to yours each time to stay there for the rest of the game. For Samus, they only time you can see her is right after you beat Belome for the second time sleeping in the Mushroom Kindom's Palace.
Wasn't the Frying Pan a secret weapon and one of the most powerful weapons in the game? Peach used to one hit ko many enemies with that weapon. Also, there's another item that i can't remember correctly, but it can be used once. It was a certain item where it spawns some sheeps.

Wow! I remember growing up playing this game always getting stuck in the sunken ship until finally my friend told me the password. After seeing this video, I remember all of these except for the Casino, which I was never able to find. All this done without the powers of the internet. 😁
I remember part of these when I played this long ago. I don't recall 10, 9, 6, 5, or 3. The other half I found through a lot of exploration my first game. Lol, got stuck on the Pirate Ship password for some dumb reason (thought I tried the actual password but didn't apparently), so I had a ton of time to explore. I was way over leveled time I got to the Pirate Ship boss (Johnny?), lol. Poor Culix didn't stand a chance either (had best equipment time I went to fight him).
as a kid, spent plenty of time getting to the secret boss. I was not ready for that. wow. my favorite series was final fantasy. the moment you go into the room, the wind sound was used in. that series. kinda felt odd and made me think of it, then bam! the battle song! O_O

I find it comical that #1 wasn't doing 100 consecutive super jumps to get the super suit which was a broken af armor for Mario; even more so than the lazy shell because it doesn't compromise his attack power... Culex wasn't that big of a secret, most people stumbled across him on accident. I would have taken out the whole Mario standing on the toad kids head and getting dizzy or even the hidden chest with nothing in it, shifted everything down and put the 100 jumps at the top with the whole lamb's lure item evolution thing being #2. The things you mentioned in this video were commonly known in this game because most people had the players guide back in the day. Not many people can say they had the patience to do the 100 jumps or use the mystery egg 48 times, then the lamb's lure 48 times with the B'tub ring equipped on Princess Toadstool to get the Sheep Attack item. Also feeding the baby Yoshi 20 cookies would sometimes net you a Yoshi-Ade or Red Essence, or sleeping on the dream cushion in Nimbus land would give you nightmares about Toad and he's sometimes appear after you woke up and give you a Red Essence. Also what about Geno's Whirl attack doing 9999 damage to normal enemies when timed properly and that Exor (The Giant Sword plunged in to Bowser's Castle) is the only Boss that can be affected by its critical attack and be one shotted? There's also the whole infinite starman secret where if you use a starman on a bunch of enemies, die in a fight and reload your save you'll retain all your experience you earned from using the starman, the starman will reset along with all the enemies allowing you to infinitely use it over and over without having to fight to reach level 30 easily. Also what about the hidden Nintendo characters sleeping in beds at certain spots? You can find Link sleeping in the bed at Rose Town after you obtain the 2nd star. After you obtain the 5th star if you head back to the Mushroom Kingdom's Castle and enter the guest room Samus is sleeping in the bed and talks about how she's resting up to fight Mother Brain. Also there's a Samus Doll in Booster Tower and an Arwing and an F-Zero Racer models in Hinopio's Shop at the Barrel Volcano... but those are kind of in your face... but the sleeping NPC's you have to go out of your way to find. Any way, yeah this game was chalk full of hidden things, some of them didn't even make your list.
Theres a hidden item that makes you invincible for a few turns it’s called Red Essence you get two in the Inn of Nimbus Land when you choose to sleep with a dream sequence just sleep a lot of times until Toad appears in your dreams as a ghost when you wake up he wakes you up and give this rare item. I usually go back after defeating Exor.
Here I was hoping you'd of picked the B'tub Ring/Mystery Egg/Lamb's Lure/Sheep Attack combination, or the The Dev Team Thought Of Everything to prevent you from getting the Cricket Jam early, or even the trying to leave Marrymore the wrong way scene, or even the Dream Pillow evil toad scene.
Getting extra lazy shells is intense!! I always thought there was only one!! I've heard theres an extra item for 100 straight wins of the hand game in the casino cant find any footage though
Valuable Tip: Win Grate Guy's "Look the Other Way" game a total of 100 times to get the Star Egg. It's like a reusable Rock Candy that deals 100 damage to all enemies.
What a great game. Full of so many cool secrets.. I wish I could own it again. A real copy. Wouldn't wanna pay more than 40 bucks, tho. I regret selling this one. I guess the rom will always be there. But I would enjoy the real game more. But the battery could be dead..
I remember seeing a boxed copy at a shop a few years ago for $120. Crazy to think I used to own it myself....didn't realize what I had until it was too late.
A very good video, but the sounds during battles need fixing, another secret not shown here is the super suit. (Need to do 💯 super jumps to get FYI. 30 gets you some accessory but the super suit can only be equipped to Mario BTW).
The Hidden Box at the Castle, you can try to get it once you go back. You have to go on one of the Mushroom People's heads and just wait till the pathing gets closer to a good point to jump. I've done it many times, still works :) It's the one at Land's End that there is a hidden box and the panel will not fly up to the floating box and there is a hidden one on the cliff side.
Here's one Stay at the Suite in MArrymore too many nights in a row (By turning the light off without leaving the room), and Mario has to work as a bellhop to pay off his debt!
This game really deserves: a) the addition to Nintendo Switch Online (as a SNES game) b) a full remake (in the Link's Awakening style) (as a proper Switch game) c) a true sequel (and no, for me Paper Mario and Mario&Luigi are considered "spinoffs", more like spiritual sequels) d) that the unique characters appear more often in the Super Mario Universe (Mallow, the various toads, the Smithy gang, the pirate guy, and many others) e) gEnO fOr sMaSh (even if he won't be in it at all...)
This is still the best Mario RPG in my opinion. Wish a sequel was made.

Wow I found almost ALL of these when I was a kid (except the casino) and even beat Culex without any Internet or strategy guides! This was literally my first RPG and one of the best games I ever played! :D

0:40 I remember reading an interview with one of the designers of the game and he joked that that hidden chest contained the Super Suit which was stolen by the dog in Monstro Town. I know he said it as a joke but that’s now my headcannon.

How do you get Samus to appear? I never got her to appear on my normal casual playthroughs. Also imagine if instead of Peach and Bowser you get to play as Link and Samus?
@@brandonwilliams6119 For Link, you have to beat Bowyer then sleep at the Rose town inn and he'll be in the bed next to yours each time to stay there for the rest of the game. For Samus, they only time you can see her is right after you beat Belome for the second time sleeping in the Mushroom Kindom's Palace.
Wasn't the Frying Pan a secret weapon and one of the most powerful weapons in the game? Peach used to one hit ko many enemies with that weapon.
Also, there's another item that i can't remember correctly, but it can be used once. It was a certain item where it spawns some sheeps.

+Spyke Dot one of the better little secrets that i can think of is how the mushrooms in forest maze all have a "taste" that you can trade at seaside to the mushroom boy BUT thats not even a secret just not worth the time lol

You also could add on the the Sheep Attack (comes after Grate Guy's Casino), the "???" in Peach's drawer, and Samus Aran in the castle guest room.

Wow! I remember growing up playing this game always getting stuck in the sunken ship until finally my friend told me the password. After seeing this video, I remember all of these except for the Casino, which I was never able to find. All this done without the powers of the internet. 😁

I remember part of these when I played this long ago. I don't recall 10, 9, 6, 5, or 3. The other half I found through a lot of exploration my first game. Lol, got stuck on the Pirate Ship password for some dumb reason (thought I tried the actual password but didn't apparently), so I had a ton of time to explore. I was way over leveled time I got to the Pirate Ship boss (Johnny?), lol. Poor Culix didn't stand a chance either (had best equipment time I went to fight him).
Yeah lol I was 6-7 when I played this I didn't even know what Pearls were so I was way over leveled also

as a kid, spent plenty of time getting to the secret boss. I was not ready for that. wow. my favorite series was final fantasy. the moment you go into the room, the wind sound was used in. that series. kinda felt odd and made me think of it, then bam! the battle song! O_O
you miss 2 other secrest...more like cameo which are link and samus.
Knocking out one of the bosses with star power then another boss was screaming for him to show up for a long time was one of my favorite moments.

I remember when I found out about that last boss. I had grinding everyone to the max thinking it would help. Man it made that fight so easy lol.
I find it comical that #1 wasn't doing 100 consecutive super jumps to get the super suit which was a broken af armor for Mario; even more so than the lazy shell because it doesn't compromise his attack power... Culex wasn't that big of a secret, most people stumbled across him on accident.
I would have taken out the whole Mario standing on the toad kids head and getting dizzy or even the hidden chest with nothing in it, shifted everything down and put the 100 jumps at the top with the whole lamb's lure item evolution thing being #2.
The things you mentioned in this video were commonly known in this game because most people had the players guide back in the day. Not many people can say they had the patience to do the 100 jumps or use the mystery egg 48 times, then the lamb's lure 48 times with the B'tub ring equipped on Princess Toadstool to get the Sheep Attack item.
Also feeding the baby Yoshi 20 cookies would sometimes net you a Yoshi-Ade or Red Essence, or sleeping on the dream cushion in Nimbus land would give you nightmares about Toad and he's sometimes appear after you woke up and give you a Red Essence.
Also what about Geno's Whirl attack doing 9999 damage to normal enemies when timed properly and that Exor (The Giant Sword plunged in to Bowser's Castle) is the only Boss that can be affected by its critical attack and be one shotted?
There's also the whole infinite starman secret where if you use a starman on a bunch of enemies, die in a fight and reload your save you'll retain all your experience you earned from using the starman, the starman will reset along with all the enemies allowing you to infinitely use it over and over without having to fight to reach level 30 easily.
Also what about the hidden Nintendo characters sleeping in beds at certain spots? You can find Link sleeping in the bed at Rose Town after you obtain the 2nd star. After you obtain the 5th star if you head back to the Mushroom Kingdom's Castle and enter the guest room Samus is sleeping in the bed and talks about how she's resting up to fight Mother Brain.
Also there's a Samus Doll in Booster Tower and an Arwing and an F-Zero Racer models in Hinopio's Shop at the Barrel Volcano... but those are kind of in your face... but the sleeping NPC's you have to go out of your way to find.
Any way, yeah this game was chalk full of hidden things, some of them didn't even make your list.

Theres a hidden item that makes you invincible for a few turns it’s called Red Essence you get two in the Inn of Nimbus Land when you choose to sleep with a dream sequence just sleep a lot of times until Toad appears in your dreams as a ghost when you wake up he wakes you up and give this rare item. I usually go back after defeating Exor.

Getting the star egg from the casino is my favorite. 200 damage to every enemy every time. Combined with the lazy shell, makes any fight a breeze.
@ZCS you're right. And I just found out if you have the Quartz Charm on and use it, it does 150 damage. Pretty cool.
Here I was hoping you'd of picked the B'tub Ring/Mystery Egg/Lamb's Lure/Sheep Attack combination, or the The Dev Team Thought Of Everything to prevent you from getting the Cricket Jam early, or even the trying to leave Marrymore the wrong way scene, or even the Dream Pillow evil toad scene.
Getting extra lazy shells is intense!! I always thought there was only one!! I've heard theres an extra item for 100 straight wins of the hand game in the casino cant find any footage though
Valuable Tip: Win Grate Guy's "Look the Other Way" game a total of 100 times to get the Star Egg.
It's like a reusable Rock Candy that deals 100 damage to all enemies.

you can replace those pretty easy if you have the right screw driver. I got a set that was $5 on ebay, a battery depending where you go $4-$7

A very good video, but the sounds during battles need fixing, another secret not shown here is the super suit. (Need to do 💯 super jumps to get FYI. 30 gets you some accessory but the super suit can only be equipped to Mario BTW).
The Hidden Box at the Castle, you can try to get it once you go back. You have to go on one of the Mushroom People's heads and just wait till the pathing gets closer to a good point to jump. I've done it many times, still works :) It's the one at Land's End that there is a hidden box and the panel will not fly up to the floating box and there is a hidden one on the cliff side.

I remember doing that so many times, I think the longest I stayed was for 99 nights, and of course naturally.. Mario had to work it all off ;P

This game really deserves:
a) the addition to Nintendo Switch Online (as a SNES game)
b) a full remake (in the Link's Awakening style) (as a proper Switch game)
c) a true sequel (and no, for me Paper Mario and Mario&Luigi are considered "spinoffs", more like spiritual sequels)
d) that the unique characters appear more often in the Super Mario Universe (Mallow, the various toads, the Smithy gang, the pirate guy, and many others)
e) gEnO fOr sMaSh (even if he won't be in it at all...)
