    The "treasure in the sky" that most others call a coin ship changes a turtle on the main map to a coin ship more often than just with the "tens digit as a one"... The tens digit multiplied by 11 must total your coin count. If you have them correct BEFORE getting your card at the end like 2 and 22, or 5 and 55, then you're good to get the card with the timer ending on an EVEN number (since each count on the timer gets you 50 points). IF the tens digit is 5 off from your coins, like 3 and 88 for example, just end the level with the timer on an ODD number, thereby giving your tens digit an extra 5, making that 3 turn into an 8 and matching the 88 to get your coin ship :)

      Do you know how to get all three mushroom cards or all three flowers? ;)

    • @BigEvil6686
      @BigEvil6686 8 лет назад +4

      For Mushrooms, I find that running full speed, then turning at the last second and hitting the box backwards tends to work a lot. I never found a trick to get Flowers. But why would you want LESS lives? True, a good player doesn't really need them, but still?

    • @katvtay
      @katvtay 8 лет назад

      Antonio Figueroa You're right. The only reason why it may be helpful to get three mushroom or flower cards is when you are going for a hammer bro turning into the White Ship. Since getting that is based on ending at the right second, it can throw off the chance to get a star card. Anyways, for three flowers, you run full speed, but you don't start running until the black background appears. Try it out. :)

    • @katvtay
      @katvtay 8 лет назад +3

      What's the 7-1 wrong warp? Is it where you complete whole level by going through the wall instead of the door?

    • @GaryX2k3
      @GaryX2k3 8 лет назад +21

      The 7-1 wrong warp is a trick in world 7-1 to get to the end of the game. It involves hitting Koopa shells in the correct order in the correct time in order to manipulate a specific RAM command in the game's ROM. Then you activate a glitch to make the game think that Mario's gone into a warp pipe when he hasn't. If done correctly, the game's RAM will start sending incorrect commands to the game's ROM which will then send the player to the final screen of the game.

    The "treasure in the sky" at 10:11 doesn't require 11 coins. Just a multiple of 11 (11, 44, etc.) with the 10s place in points matching. For example 443,060 and 66 coins gets you this White Ship in worlds 1, 3, 5, and 6. They can be done in any level of those worlds as long as the hammer guy still is there to change into the ship. (To ensure the 10s place is the number that matches the coins, end the level on an even second, like 2:32 left. If you end on an odd number left, your points move by 50 (which is good if you have, say 496,010 points and 66 coins, and you want the ...10 to bump up by 50... they'll all be 6s! (Again, any multiple of 11 and in any level.)

    • @katvtay
      @katvtay 8 лет назад +6

      Oh snap, you missed the 1UP mushroom in the White Ship too. Before going down the pipe, jump up in between the first two holes in the ship on the left side of the pipe. :)

      The guy that designed thousands of game concepts would cross reference games. That is why Zelda music is played when you blow the whistle.
      He also wrote movies so finding Pac-Man in the movie Tron should make sense now.
      He cousin's last name is Spackman.
      When looking for clues you need to keep an open mind and across different media. Like A BTTF reference in the third Harry Potter book or The Simpson's references in the movie Maximum Overdrive.

    Stuff noted in the video are fairly well known... First 2 Warp Whistles are well known (3rd Whistle is less common). How to warp is just mathematical. 3 stars is a non-secret (although the tactic to hit if is mostly timing). Coin ship is a mathematical tactic, which few bother to deal with the exact details to obtain. The White Mushroom houses (which appear bluish in the All-Stars version) is uncommon knowledge, as there's one stage in each world that has the challenge & the item present varies by the world number (even or odd).
    Noticing that the castle in World 3 is digital recreation of Japan & the castle's location noted in the Kyoto area is a bit more obscure stuff that others are likely to overlook.

  • @pirabense
    @pirabense 8 лет назад +2

    About the blue toad houses, there are 7 in all games( 1 - 4, 2 -2, 3 -8, 4 -2, 5 - 5, 6 -7, 7 -2 ) and the make the ship full of coins, this trick only works in worlds 1, 3, 5 and 6, and you can finish the stage with any number of coins multiple of 11(11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66,..), not only 11 as you showed in this video

    I guess these are secrets. The coin ship can be done on any level as long as the coins are a multiple of 11 and the score ends in the number in the tens spot of the coins (11 coins, 10 pts, 22 coins, 20 pts, etc).
    There is a 3rd whistle in the northeast of Desertland. You have to break the rock with a Hammer and you can get it.

      +Deialekt El'Pe
      Still incorrect. It's at least a certain amount. I've gotten more than 30 coins in 2-2 and still got the white mushroom house (blue if you prefer).
      +Kamycrack, to my knowledge, World 8 doesn't have a white/blue mushroom house. Following the game's pattern, the even worlds' secret houses contain anchors, and an anchor is utterly useless in World 8 as there is no mobile airship to be found.

      There is no White Mushroom House in World 8. This is a listing of which stages have the houses, and the minimum number of coins you must acquire in that stage. Only one of them requires every single coin.
      ~~~
      White Mushroom Houses
      By getting enough Coins in certain levels, you can access a special White Mushroom House! These contain special items:
      - In Worlds 1, 3, 5, and 7, you'll obtain a P-Wing
      - In Worlds 2, 4, and 6, you'll obtain an Anchor
      These are the levels in question; by getting at least the specified number of Coins, you can find the special White Mushroom House, accessible from the overworld.
      - Level 1-4: 44 Coins
      - Level 2-2: 30 Coins
      - Level 3-8: 44 Coins
      - Level 4-2: 24 Coins (all of them!)
      - Level 5-5: 28 Coins
      - Level 6-7: 78 Coins
      - Level 7-2: 46 Coins
      The one in the fortress is quite possible to find intuitively. At that time stuff like getting to the top row of blocks on the underground levels in SMB1 was already pretty common, so that might just be a thing people find.
      Third one in W2 is simple enough if you know how hammers work and can get it.
      The first one... pretty sure some magazine/word of mouth, I remember disappearing behind the props via holding down on a white block to be pretty mind-blowing.
    World 5-1 has a secret note item. You must use a P-Wing to go to a secret pipe in the air. Then, run and duck/fly underneath a small passage to the note room.
    • @katvtay
      @katvtay 8 лет назад
      Yeah, love that one! You actually don't have to waste a P-Wing though. I prefer being just Racoon (or Tanooki!) to sprint and get to that pipe in the beginning of the level. After you get the four 1UP mushrooms (and get the P push white coins, designed like the number 3 if you want), you can get hit by those chain guys while you're underneath. Then you're short enough to get to the small passage without having the power-P push you through.
    • @pumpkinpike666
    also the triple star/flower/and mushroom are all normal things, not secrets. now to consistently get a gold star, be at P speed when you are at the end of the level, jump when you get in range and it will be a star. it's literally race for the star.
    At 4:32, the real secret isn't that the coins need to be 11 and the tens digit of the score be 1. The secret is that the coins need to be a multiple of 11 (any multiple of 11... 11, 22, 33, 44, etc.) The tens digit of the score must be the number of coins divided by 11 (i.e. 1 for 11, 2 for 22, 3 for 33, 4 for 44, etc.)
      The "treasure in the sky" works with any double coin amount(22, 33, 44, etc). I do it with 55 coins and make sure that the last two digits in the score are 50. For 33 coins, score must end in 30, 44 coins, score must end in 40, and so on.
    In this game if you use the game genie to play and kill bowser at the end, if you use the stay big codes hold up after beating him at the door or the game will self pause. I always use the hammer suit code, you can't slide down hills in it, but the hammer you throw kills almost every enemy with one hit, including ghost's and candle flames and thwomps just to name a few, and all boom booms to, (if you can hit him that is). Plus the codes work for Luigi to.
    Ok, me and my great grandma found this out be4 she passed 6 months ago. Im 15. The way 2 get the coin ship is 2 complete the lvl wth ur coin counter in a multiple (ex. 11, 22, 33 and so forth), while having the 100's digit match the multiple #. (Ex. If ur coin meter is at 22, than ur time remaining at the end of the lvl must be anywhere from 200 to 299. I believe it had 2 be even as well, buy im not 2 sure. Love u grandma, and i cherish those times we had 2gether.
      Yes, same here. The movie "The Wizard" showed me where the 2nd warp whistle was [in the first castle /dungeon]. Then way back in the early 90s, a school friend told me about the 1st one [crouching on the white block]. The 3rd whistle [in the 2nd world - Desert Land, by breaking the rock in the top right hand corner of the screen] was the one that I found by myself. The internet makes it so much easier to find things these days. Imagine what life would be like for someone born in the 90s [or after] if they had to make it without the internet. :)
    The blue (or white) Toad's Houses can be found in all worlds except 8, generally on levels with some kind of gimmick keeping you from getting all the coins easily. Specifically, 1-4 (autoscroller), 2-2 (moving platform + P-switch), 3-8 (water level with deadly Boss Bass present), 4-2 (P-switch), 5-5 (coins under falling Donut Blocks), 6-7 (aerial autoscroller including coins under Donut Blocks, but need to have Fire Flower instead of Super Leaf to get coins at the end), and 7-2 (need to use a Frog Suit from your inventory on a mostly land-based level). 1-3-5-7 give P-Wings, 2-4-6 give anchors.
      cloned81 The part where he got a star at the end of three levels in a row. This video claimed it was some sort of secret, but it's part of your damn HUD. There's nothing secretive about it.
    If you get all the coins and free lives in board 1-4 you get a card house(or coin ship; I can't remember). You have to be sure to move fast to get all of the coins possible from the multi-coin boxes. there are 2 of them.
    This was a waste for us who had Nintendo or SNES when growing up. Then to top it off you're ability to play the game is shit. So we had to also suffer through that
    Warp Whistle 3: When you get the hammer (for breaking rocks) in World 2, save it until you reach the second half of the map. Use it to break the rock in the top right corner. You will open a third section of the map. Inside there is a hammer brother and a Toad House. The Toad house gives you your first frog suit, while the Hammer Brother gives you the third warp whistle. You can then warp to 8 using as normal.
    You really didn't show anything new, though, to those of us who played it on the NES when it came out. See, there was this nifty magazine called Nintendo Power. They issued a Super Mario 3 Strategy Guide, that told us EVERYTHING. If it didn't tell you the specifics (say, like the Coin Airship), it would give you a REALLY good hint.
      Most of those we figured out even without reading the magazine. I thought the "kind raccoon" thing was hilarious when I was a kid, but usually ended up losing it so I didn't see it very many times.
