I own one of the fastest 997 turbo tiptronics (built by aim performance) and can assure you; when the tranny and engine are built; it gets better. I have faster shifts at a higher rpm and the larger turbos and fuel system make it hit hard. Nice video.
Cool video. I've had my 2008, 997 turbo trip since new. I still love the car and I'm afraid to sell and get the 992, as i feel the 997 is the perfect generation, size 911 and the last of the pure Porsche 911s. Good interview. Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing.
Same. Have had my 997 turbo since practically new as well and love the tip. Never got the hate. I think most people are just keyboard warriors following what others say. 14 years later and the car still puts a big smile on my face.
Love your camera work and the interviews with the owners are great . I like learning what they love about their cars and what they've owned in the past . Always have a soft spot for the mk2 golf !
I have a 997 Tip Turbo as well. Already bought an engine tune and trans tune I need to put in. I really wanted a manual like most, and coming from a DCT M4, it was an adjustment. But the 997 Turbo was my attainable dream car without having to finance. Looking forward to doing the wheels, tunes, and other minor things I have planned for it. I'll probably leave the turbos/intercoolers as-is for now (stock) until it makes sense to swap them out.
Hey Trev. You need to be in these cars in shotgun so we can experience a little of the sounds and acceleration. I know you will show your energy more and add some excitement. I love your slick panning shots but need to hear a little more inside bro. Keep it up. My car coming to you in the spring.
You're going to love the next video. I did exactly this with 2 cameras. I'm going to invest in a few more goPro's to achieve a better filming experience inside the car
Good general video, audio seemed to drop out when the finer details (which we all love) were chatted about. Be nice to know who did the engine tune, gearbox tune, meth kit etc.
❤😂😢😮😊 for a stick shift it would probably be better, but I prefer automatic like it tectonic because I’m lazy and I don’t wanna be shitting gears in and out of traffic. I just wanna cruise easy Peezy you do good work bro take care peace out.
❤😂😢😮😮😊 that’s nice 997 with the 680 horse I seen some that are 982 1000 there’s a company out of England ES motors check them out if you want more horsepower or stainless steel exhaust pipes which they do check the video ES motors they are so damn good keep up the good work bro you do good with videos and I like what you do I watch them a lot. Keep up and happy new year.
@@alanmackenzie6643 You are clearly a man in the know. I have heard people describe Rick at Unicorn Motor Developments as a wizard, especially when it comes to the tiptronic box. He really is able to unlock the box to allow for faster shifting and run multiple (up to 5 iirc) maps all on standard internals. Even to this day, he continues to push boundaries and makes these cars go faster and faster. All within safe parameters and has a flawless reputation when it comes to the "longevity" factor!
Great video. I had a 996 Turbo stick & now a 997 Turbo with Tiptronic which I absolutely love. Especially as the owner said once you get to know it an easier in traffic or daily driving and less maintenance on the tip than a clutch and the tip can handle a ton of power the .1 mezger can put out. Besides that the 997 imo is better looking & overall better than the 996 Turbo which was an awesome car too & also imo the 997 turbo is the best generation ever made of the Turbo & the Tiptronic is way better than all the negative cometary. Yes the 993 are cool in their own way and the 991+ but both way different. Check my video. Cheers
Very much a case of each to their own. The direct downside is definetly how interactive it is to drive as there's no manual shifting and the steering wheel +- knobs are horrendous to use. For anyone after a more direct feel with the luxury of a tiptronic there's always a a retrofittable steering wheel with paddles. (on the list of mods this year hopefully!) Some of what we discussed in relation to how it is to drive didn't make the final cut unfortunately but stay tuned for Part 2! I have a little surprise that has the manual shifters feeling a little salty and brining the car's interior up to 2024! 😉
I’m thinking about going from my 981 cayman pdk to a 997 tiptronic turbo. The cayman is awesome with headers and ecu tune to stage 2 and sounds amazing but the 911 turbo is just my dream car that I have to get before I die 😂

Where are you based?
Can we get you on the channel?

Rick at Unicorn different level to ES Motor if you don't want blown engine.

Is that a Meteor Grey colour?
i believe so
What would create more regret, choosing a Cayman over a 911 or choosing 911 tiptronic over manual
