*I know I'm late with this video but it has taken a lot of time, cooperations and work.* 1- I'd like to thank to all the subscribers who sent me audios and helped with German and translations. 2- Danke to Air Berlin for its service all over the years. May this video be as a tribute to this airline.
Guys!! Thanks so much. As Swissport Ground Staff, I was eating while watching this video. And I started to cry. Worked so many times for them on the ground, so sad to see them go:) Thanks for the great video!
I was the captain on this flight, and I am now a captain at Easyjet. This was a great flight, made possible many people at the company. I will always miss the airline, the people and the good times.
I flew Air Berlin on my first trip to Europe this past summer, when we reached cruising altitude and the steward started passing out drinks, (I was 20 at the time and couldn’t drink in the US), I asked if we were allowed to have a drink since we were on the airplane now. He just turned to me and said, “This is a German airline! Of course you can have a beer!”. I got to have my first legal drink, a German Warsteiner beer on Air Berlin. I will never forget that so long as I live.
My older brother was one of the last people that was allowed to drink alcohol at age 19 right before we changed legal drinking age to 21 in USA. Man was he popular in college! lol
"You served an island city." Powerful statement spoken lightly. Air Berlin wasn't any other airline (although it became that in their last years), it connected West Berlin to the rest of germany. It played a vital role in keeping the west german exclave within the east functioning. That's why it was so beloved and almost part of Berlin's identity. Many citizens of Berlin would more likely name it alongside the Berlin Airlift than alongside Lufthansa, Air France or BA...
Between the amazing dialogue over ATC with the 4EVR crew and the ground cannon salutes at the end of the video, I am not ashamed to say that all of it brought me to tears. Absolutely fantastic video. Long live Air Berlin ❤️❤️
Nearly 5 years ago in the meanwhile and my tears are still coming when I watch these videos. Especially that one. Million thanks to the air traffic controller on duty, to Dave and his crew. I am thankful to be ever a part of this air berlin family. The best years. In my heart I will always stay an Air Berliner!

I want to cry right now…it was touching. It’s sad to see the airline go even if I didn’t fly with them. It’s just sad. And how everyone is going to miss it; it makes me cry. Air Berlin forever
The UK military used to fly with Air Berlin from Hannover to Birmingham and Birmingham to Paderborn and every flight I went on was so pleasant. Flight attendants were very nice and professional and will never forget the heart shaped chocolate they gave to everyone at the end.
My heart goes out for all you dear German folks. I know how it feels, the Hungarian airline MALEV had it's end in 2012 after operating for 66 years. It's like PAN AM was for the Americans, or Swissair was for Swiss people.
Forgot to mention MALEV was a national airline. Wizzair not a national airline. Yes, it's planes are registered in Hungary, that doesn't make it national.
Same here for us Brazilians. Our great airlines Varig, VASP and Transbrasil are all gone since a long time ago. Today we have much inferior airlines such as Gol and Latam
Thank you for posting this awesome homage to Air Berlin, I was very fond of this airline, I've used it a lot for my APG-VIE flights to visit my sister, and also her. Nikki still exists of course, but it's sad to see this great airline go. The service and punctuality was always awesome, which says a lot about their great crew, I really wish them the very best! Gracias Air Berlin. Thank you. Vielen Dank, auf wiedersehen!!
So sad, right! They always offered a overall premium airline experience for the price of a low cost carrier. Never have we experienced major delay or anything negative. always outstanding service.

Thanks for all of the time and effort you put into bringing this great video to us. ATC and pilot did a great job and the audio quality was magnificient. Thanks also to the other subscribers that provided you with parts of the audio. It's truly sad for me even though I live over here across the pond in Georgia, USA.
RIP AB and thanks for your kind assistance when I was flying from Nuremberg where I was staying with my brother and his partner in Roth for three weeks back in July 2014 to Hamburg where I transferred to a British Airways aircraft taking me home to London Heathrow. Thanks very much to the crew who kindly offered assistance to me as I am a deaf and disabled person and they gave me some gold paper wrapped chocs. Thanks AB and rest in peace.
Really touching, those ATC messages, firetrucks and all... never flew with airberlin, but I know how good they were. Also, I hate goodbyes :/ Congratz VASAviation!!
The sneaky way ATC make up fake situations like missed approaches or aircraft in distress to make sure he gets the route and speed he wants is the human wink within a ubercontrolled environment. Gold.
My daughters first flight was Air Berlin flight from Saint-Petersburg to Berlin. She was only 3 y.o. (now 9) but she still remember this flight and keep a little gift from Air Berlin - small plane in their colors. And it was my first trip to Berlin. Unforgettably. Oh.... Thank you Air Berlin!

a very touching video,
but what was the music in the background?
Thank you, Jackson! :)
Guys!! Thanks so much. As Swissport Ground Staff, I was eating while watching this video. And I started to cry. Worked so many times for them on the ground, so sad to see them go:) Thanks for the great video!
VASAviation - Why did Air Berlin have to stop operations? Were they purchased, go bankrupt, succumb to inferior competition...?
I was the captain on this flight, and I am now a captain at Easyjet. This was a great flight, made possible many people at the company. I will always miss the airline, the people and the good times.
Thanks for this info - best of luck to all of the former Air Berlin employees!
Ich hoffe, dass Sie auch diese Krise gut überstehen... :/

Haha nice! You are allowed to drink Wine and Beer with an Age of 16 in Germany:D
And you can drink at 18 in Ireland :p I am German and Irish so I will be able to have a early taste while in Germany :D
My older brother was one of the last people that was allowed to drink alcohol at age 19 right before we changed legal drinking age to 21 in USA. Man was he popular in college! lol
Realy a good history. I mean that you will always remember?
good old USA, you can buy a barret .50bmg at 18yo but you cant drink until 21.

so, theoritically air berlin were the safest planes?
FARRI GAMES a Safe Airline, but that doesn’t mean the planes are safe. Air Berlin only operated the planes, built by others.

Ondřej Bakan Which part is that cos every other sentence starts or ends with AIR BERLIN FOREVER 😅
"Air Berlin Four Echo Victor Romeo.... sorry, Air Berlin Forever" :)
never flew air Berlin and I'm in tears
You clearly missed something. I will always hope that they will come back one day
SunDevilTechNerd same. This video is so sad. It also makes me think about how in a few years Tegel might be closed....
Neither did I and I’m gutted now

Every single day an AirBerlin Q400 would fly over my town... Now I miss that faint buzzing from the skies. :(
Man you did an AWESOME job with this one! Worth the wait. I think even Captain Joe would give this a thumbs up! I sure did👍
Thanks for watching, John :)
Oh no, I just remembered, Cpt Joe worked for Air Berlin, didnt he? Where will he go now?
No idea which airline exactly, but he announced that he is currently performing assessments for several airlines.
Rumors are running, but most likely we'll hear Captain Joe under the Callsign Eurowings again.
Sidney Kenson nope, we won‘t
Great video! Nice to finally hear the ATC version as i was at Tegel airport when it landed - also the double water salute was great to see live!
