The red road flats looked massive in that. Was home for a few years. Always notorious i never had any bother. Loved my flat 😊

The newly built Queens Mother has just recently been demolished to be followed by the Sick Children’s Hospital.

This is just a small part of the “Glasgow 1980” video / proposals (also available on RUclips).
These were grand plans indeed, however (just like many grand infrastructure projects of modern times) much of what was proposed never came to fruition due to a lack of money, and the compromised designs left vast swaths of uninhabited spare ground that had been cleared for a redevelopment that never materialised. Much of these swaths of spare ground have only been developed or landscaped in recent times. What was built as part of Glasgow 1980 was largely disastrous (particularly the housing) and most has now been pulled down. The M8 through the city / Kingston Bridge is probably the most enduring part of these plans, however it carved an ugly scar through the city and laid waste to once thriving areas that have never recovered.

Love the film and narration but the superimposed lettering is unnecessary, very distracting and annoying.

And here we are in 2024 and the city is going backwards.

Why are you crudely trying to copy right this beautiful 16mm film by burning in extremely ugly yellow letters? By using this childish “zoom” feature on the unpleasant looking text seems to suggest your not a film maker and the footage isn’t yours to start with.. If you do have exclusive access to this footage, a tasteful water mark in the top right hand corner would make viewing a more pleasant experience..There is a RUclips feature for subtitles, in fact I’m experiencing right now, small white letters on top of your bombastic, infantile yellow letters… If your genuinely interested in Glasgow’s history and want to share this footage that your fortune enough to have access to, please re- upload omitting the nauseating, cheesy, vulgar, zoom effect letters, they are an insult to the great city of Glasgow and an insult to the people of the great nation of Scotland…

That’s not how you spell COPYRIGHT 😂. Unfortunately I only had a 16mm approval copy of this film when I did a telecine transfer 25 years ago. I also isolated the narration, cleaned it up and replaced the ambient sound . Thanks for watching.
