Great review. If you go all the way to 17% you will have to go all the way down the rabbit hole. Looking at your 09 you will probably go all the way. Look forward to watching the series.
I’ll definitely do all the supporting mods!
Happy and Healthy New Year! I have watched most of your R56 Videos (I own one myself and also am working on it by my self) and apriciate them very much! Very good work, keep doing, what you are doing! I just wanted to speak out one concern. Safety stands on a plank on loose soil looks really dagerous to me. As an public role model you need to "preach" safety to the DIY community, because the most accidents happen at home, when DIY-ing. Congratulations to you in regard of the new car. Maybe when it is done you ca compare them. :)
The wood is there to keep the jack stands from sinking into the ground. It is the safest way i can do it out here
oh same car diferent generations! beautiful, exactly like mini r56 mcs 07
best of luck with it mate! such a great looking car :D
Thank you 🙏
R53 is the BEST
I’m gonna want to watch this whole video.
💯
Nice purchase! It's a great way to start the new year. It looks like you got a lot of parts with it. Are you planning on creating content for the R53 Mini similar to what you did for the R56 Mini? E.g. timing chain replacement, etc.
Yes, that’s the reason i wanted an R53. I’m still working on my R56 too though
Sounds like the crankshaft pulley. Excellent video buddy! 👍🏻
I watched your video when yours went bad like 5 times lol that’s what made me think its a pulley and not the timing chain 💪
@@ProjectMini thanks for the additional views! 😂
As soon as you turned the engine over, my ears pricked up, “that sounds familiar” I said out loud. To no-one. 😂
I just pulled the front tire off and started the car. The crank pulley definitely isn’t spinning as smoothly as the other pulleys. I’m replacing that anyway so i hope it’s the problem
Hello a great video 👍👍👍 happy new year 🥳 from Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋 Kai
Thank you 🙏
happy new year my friend
nice new car i love it
Thank you and happy new year to you too 💪
@@ProjectMini thank you ✌
I love my R56 but I want to do the same thing you did. I really want one of the supercharged Mini's also
I’ll be after an F56 before to long lol
Got a lot of stuff with it ! although R56 videos I watch all of them ! Thank for videos good luck with ur new mini ! Who care what people say about 🤦♀️ LOL automatic i’m sure you’ll be an expert on this car I don’t forget about the R 56 please! lol
I still have a lot to do to my R56 💪
@@ProjectMini good I love the videos how many miles do you think a mini can get on them they get such a bad rap! Although Hyundai it’s horrible they know that their cars are horrible dangerous it’s sad when a car engine seizes up with 30,000 miles
Someone posted a while back about having over 400k miles on their Mini. I don’t remember which Mini it was though. Im pretty sure it was a 1st gen though
Doesn’t sound like the chain to me. Chain tensioner at a long shot. But it sounds too external to be that.
The tensioner was already replaced, i think its the crankshaft pulley. I’ll find out as soon as my belt tensioner tool shows up
How hard is it to get to the tensioner on the R53? Maybe you can get the tool to check timing chain stretch. I got the tool right after I bought my R56 to check my chain. Mine is a 2011 with the N18 engine with 81k miles. My chain was good to go.
Im going to replace the timing chain weather it needs it or not
@@ProjectMini yeah definitely the best way to go. I plan to change mine but since it's my daily driver I have to wait till I have a little time to do the job. Or until I get an R53 lol
i had the same noise on a 2002 cooper s turned out to be the super charger
That’s definitely a possibility for mine too
@@ProjectMini Hi yes the rattle sure does sound the same it eventually just would'n't stop not just on start up .lets hope its some thing a bit less expensive for you
It sounds like a broken piece of something. I'm looking forward to seeing what it is.
Im really hoping that I’ll be able to figure it out this weekend
I'm wondering if you are located in socal or norcal?
Northern California
@@ProjectMini I have R60 Mini countryman s with 55K miles and I wonder if this is normal rpm. car kinda shakes when rpm goes down little and up as video shows. I've replaced coils and spark plugs & air filter and cleaned mass air flow sensor.

Sounds like chain rattle
Like it’s hitting the casing
It’s very likely
