Loved mine so much (when it worked) that I've owned it two times. Both times had the perfect love-hate relationship with it. It's one of the cars that crawls under your skin, stunning little machines (when they work lol).
@@usernamepleasehere Power steering pump failure, steering rack, and gearbox and clutch issues are pretty common (almost certain to happen at some point). If atrocious fuel consumption and rattles do not bother you much, you will be happy with it. I would go for the post July 2004 models, because they received some technical upgrades (better gearboxes for example)
The 2005-06 coupes are perfectly reliable when you maintain them properly. MINI unreliability is a myth due to bad transmissions in some of the very earliest cars. The Tritec engine is a champ. Also, there was a recall on the power steering pump; I had mine replaced on my 2005 for free in 2014.
I had 2 R53 S both bought new. 2004 (Pre-LCI) and 2005 (LCI). I kept the LCI until 2012. Mine had the Anthracite dash/door trim, full 6 toggle switch bank (Front and rear fog lights), 6-Speed Getrag manual, Harmon Kardon factory stereo with iPod adaptor (That was hot back in 2005, before iPhones and music streaming services/apps), leatherette seats, solid white roof with Union Jack decal, chrome pack (Mirror caps, front grille and rear boot lid) reduction supercharger pulley, single mass clutch, 16 inch V-Spokes with runflats. This video brings me back to that car.
At last... Someone driving a Mini between 4000 and 7000rpm !!! Good job !!! I've been looking for a video like yours for a while !!! So much people are posting terrible videos, driving them at 2000 or 3000rpm... I suppose they only obtained their driving licence in the past 3 months... and just want to prove Dad and Mum they can drive a car... 🤣 ! As already written... Good Job, Bro 👍 !!!
After this run the car was parked in the driveway. The next day the owner came outside to discover 2 liters of oil had leaked out underneath. :) All joking aside this video is excellent.
mon père avait cette r53, elle était génial, vraiment un kart sur patte, équipé d'un échappement akrapovich, le son de l'enfer wow, pointe à 270 sur l'autoroute
Great Driving, that is the only way to drive a R53! :) Try to learn a Rev matching while you downshift the gears; With R53 it is a pleasure and really fast to learn. Then...youll love it even more :
I wish I could find a road that that clear in the uk to throw my mini around like that. We in the uk have more pot holes than the moon 🤣🤣. Nice driving dude. Very nice in deed 👍
Hi are these good reliable please just bought 2nd hand one. It's had several MOTs had 2 be mended. Several passes 😊. It was MOTd today collecting it tomorrow reputable garage. Am 59 and quoted insurance yikes! £700 absolutely fully comp everything. Is all this good please. It's a mini cooper s 2008

Haha I get what you mean but at least parts are reasonable prices
What have been your main problems with your R53? I thought about getting a R53 JCW as a daily driver

It wasn't perfect, he could of blended the corners together much better and kept a tighter line by driving across the apex of the corners
