Currently we don’t have anything in this range. We lost a lot of boats to hurricane Ian and regrettably this boat was also sunk in the storm as it was near Fort Myers beach.
@@BoatSnoop What a shame, l forgot about the cyclone, l did see the damage to all the boats, absolute carnage, lets hope the insurance company's do the right thing, good pod mate .. John Darwin Australia 👍
If I could like this video twice I absolutely would. We will be getting one in a year or two. I love how they’ve decorated this boat. I’m saving this video for future reference!! ❤️
I've always felt that the 20th century Hatterases were the pinnacle of flush deck evolution. To wit, it's kind of coincidental that there's a 500 Connie in the background. Despite being fairly well settled on a 53 MY, we decided to cover ALL the bases and looked at a 500, if nothing else than to simply make sure we didn't want one, and it's amazing how much more livable space the Hatteras has, despite only being 3' longer. Not to mention nearly an entire book's worth of advantages the 53 has over the Connie. Nice video; it's always cool to see what other people have done to theirs. We love ours.
The Hatteras 53 is an iconic boat that literally set the standard for the industry. Definitely a fun boat to video and I believe I might have another Hatteras 53 coming soon 😎
It’s my pleasure. A big reason that I shoot these videos is just to capture all of these boats for historical purposes. Regrettably, hurricane Ian sank this vessel and that is so sad 😞, but I was at least able to do capture her on video before it happened.
@@BoatSnoop that's a shame, the owner must be devastated. People say, it's just a boat but, we know our boats can be our home and a place where family and friends gather, precious memories are made. When or if they get another be sure and let's us Snoop.
Great walk through video. We are upsizing to a larger boat, so I have seen many. You explained so many nice things about a classic yacht. We are looking for a Hatt MY 53-61 or a Viking MY 55-63. Retiring to cruise & live aboard.
That yacht reminds me of my old 1983 Bluebird Wanderlodge, a front diesel motorhome that back in 1983, was over $300K I owned mine in 2006, it was my dream rv to own and it was a well build money pit! haha.. I recognized the A/C controls you showed in the bedroom as what they had on the Wanderlodge..They either had typical roof mounted A/C or CruiseAir. The 3 dial controls were the same. This well built yacht I would choose over nearly any model I have seen due to the workmanship and the amount of "living"wood..All the new dark plastic that seems all the rage is just not classy like these older models are.. Great tour! Thanks! I hope this yacht was not a casualty of of Ian that hit Ft Myers area!!
Regretfully, I am friends with the guy who bought it and Hurricane Ian sunk her 😞. He was upgrading it like crazy and even had Starlink internet on it. He had pulled the Starlink off before the storm, but everything else was a total loss. It was so heartbreaking! At least I was able to capture her to share with the world as she was a fine example of an old classic.
@@BoatSnoop oh no! I hate to hear that! As I read that I actually felt kinda sick knowing she is gone! ugh..I live near Tampa and have friends that had, well it's a shell now, of a house on Little Gasparilla Island..Soo much devastation down there.. I wonder how many other vessels you did tours of have been sunk by that horrible storm? I guess not much can be done when they are sunk right? all that beautiful wood..I hope he was insured at least but nothing can bring back the perfection of that classic!
I have a 53 and will put it up against the modern floating Clorox bottles in terms of storage and layout. Btw, the wood is both teak and mahogany. To the novice boater, sight lines from both stations when in Reverse, are limited. You can easily single hand a 53 except in reverse- you need the extra pair of eyes.
Thank you Bill for the insight. The guy who bought this boat will single hand at times. I’ll probably see him this weekend and maybe I’ll tell him to put a camera on the back for reversing 😎
It is a perfect bachelor pad. I know the guy who ended up buying this boat and he familiarized himself with all the systems and was doing upgrades…then hurricane Ian came and destroyed everything…regretfully this boat was sunk during the storm 😞
With how cheap cameras are and how easy wireless cameras are to install, I don't know why everyone doesn't use them. Backing, docking, or even if just for security, everybody should be using them.
For years this boat was the ultimate yacht in the USA. It is sad to see Hatteras barely squeaking by these days. They once had a massive line up and 2/3rds of all yachts on the waterway were a Hatteras. I sent for their brochures once for $5 bucks and got a bit 3 inch stack of full color brochures of their entire lineup. If only I had kept it.
Much better on your drone footage. I dont know what model you have. Dji Mini 2? I know your new to it. You can also set a target for a steady 360 mode at the hieght and distance away of your choosing. Also a follow me app were it will follow you from your vehicle to walking down the dock. (Just an idea). Im looking for my first Live aboard. Ive got a buddy that just set sail from Kentucky and is heading to the Keys. They left Oct 5th and are currently in Mississippi. Cheers Ed From Kentucky. Another great video.
Thank you Ed. I have the DJI Mavic Air. It has the follow mode and I was playing with that mode a few weeks ago. I am pretty sure it has a 360 mode too...just haven't delved that deep quite yet. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Clint Johnson Boat Snoop Guy 😎
Spetember 28, 2022 to be exact. I will never forget that day. Trashed my 30ft boat 12 miles inland up the river, tore off my barn roof, and took down 18 trees on my property. Was crazy. It sunk the Hatteras 53 in this video 😳
This boat and others of the model do have generators. This one has a 15kw Onan diesel generator. The listing link (as long as the vessel doesn’t sell): www.pieroneyachtsales.com/boats-for-sale/1977-hatteras-motoryacht-fort-myers-florida-8004720/
Actually not every boat on this channel was for sale. I’m just showing what different boats look like on this channel. This boat was for sale at one time, but was sold last year. I keep the videos up so people can see different boats
Personal preference but I always wonder why some of these boats have to have a 50" tv . Your supposed to be enjoying the outdoors. That being said if I were on my own I could live aboard this boat.
I guess if your crusing and spending 8 hours on the water it works out to about $500 a day but then again you are not spending money on a hotel and restaurant food if you anchor out. I'm not sure what docking fees are but boat travel is more of an adventure than driving and staying in a hotel.
It is currently for sale and the listing brokers name and phone number can be found at the bottom of this listing: www.pieroneyachtsales.com/boats-for-sale/1977-hatteras-motoryacht-fort-myers-florida-8004720/

Cleanest 53 Hatteras I’ve ever seen two thumbs up to the owners very clean and organized

No doubt the cleanest Hatteras 53 I’ve ever seen they keep it very nice and organized

It was definitely top notch compared to the average vessel of its vintage. It was fun to film it.
This video, without any MUZAK or a jittery camera gets you a new subscriber ! And of course, how I love a HATTERAS !! Great tour !
Thank you! I don’t like the videos with music either and I use a DJI gimble mount to kill the jittery camera thing 😎
Love these Hatteras boats. Really like the layout and the woodwork. Feels warm and welcoming especially as a live aboard.
BryanJ, I love them too! Beautiful boats and as you heard me in the video...I really love that woodwork! 😎

The Hatteras 53 really set the standard. Yes, truly a shame that they don’t produce as many yachts.
I love these from the 70s to mid 80s. In the 90s they started looking like -well the 90s 🤮. All that beautiful teak was gone.
Yeah, they got cheap and started removing the nice teak 😳
As you entered the salon the sofa was on the port side ,at the end of the video of was on the starboard side ?

They are turbocharged.
Is 9 gallons of diesel burn is for each engine?
I believe it was 9 gallons per hour total with both engines.
Hard to believe it's real
