I enjoyed this first person experience video of the Hatteras 54? My family had a Bayliner command bridge and whenever one of these would pass by I was star struck. Hatteras used to be king of the hill.
What a great yacht. Unfortunately I got into sailboast at an early age when large power was always my passion. A lot of planning and stress in operating a big yacht like that in close quarters. Depending on my mood, at times I just assume pay a Captain to handle those responsibilities. Nice to get your chops down though and thoroughly learn how to operate and understand the boat just as you've done. Captain of your own ship. Those old school 2 stroke Detroit's sound awesome. Music to my ears. Thanks for posting.
Lots of work.. I just got rid of my 26' Skipjack... I thought that was alot of work.. then I saw this video.. lol.... You have a Beautiful Yatcht well worth all the work and effort. Cheers!
Bring it back memories for me Captain used to make that run all the time running bunker barges out of Charleston way up to Cape Fear River. Be careful the been there in head of you there's a little bar. Always like to clean the bottom of the barge Ride Along. Bar. Some captains would say we was running the ground but in reality I was just cleaning the bottom of the barge. Beautiful boat you have there. My Old tugboat she ran 16 92 series. Basically it was two 8 92 series bolted together.
@chris sullivan no house for me, I already sold my house and live on my boat. My comment was "most people". It's time for a little champagne and enjoy the evening here in Florida. Cheers!
Often leaving/arriving at the dock on a windy day results in some harsh words and hurt feelings. I saw a T-shirt that said "I'm sorry for what I said when I was docking the boat".
Operating a large yacht takes a lot of confidence and smart decision making without panicking,Well Done!! I like to call this "serious fun" Oh and I'm sure you use that middle finger for more than pushing buttons 🤣
What a beautiful vessel / summer home. I wish that I had that horn on my motorcycle. That would level the playing field a little; I;m getting a little tired of highway hockey in my old age.

Great video! It's hard to find a point of view video that is uncut, it really gives someone like me who is looking to get into boating to show his wife and say "look babe, it's not going to be anything scary "
I was thinking the same thing. This was my dream boat when I was growing up so its awesome seeing a point of view video. This must be what it feels like when little kids watch those giant dump truck and bulldozer videos. Cool.
Bill Willetts Bill that boat is nice. I seen a lot of your videos and I was wondering how you started out, and were you new at it when you got the first boat? I started out with the 16 foot boat and then went to a 24 footWith a cabin around 1985 had it parked in Ridley Marina . I took my 24 foot to Penns landing and stopped at a dealer to trade it in and they test drove it and the guy hit the throttle to test it and the gear stripped and he said it was because they turned the gears around on the good side and half of them were stripped . He said they were not allowed to fix it that they needed to get someone else there to fix it. I left it there and they turned around and fixed it and called me with a bill And I told them I didn’t authorize you to touch The boat.Period in the middle of the night the dealer ran to New Jersey with all the boats and I went to the Philadelphia police and they were screaming at me and my wife when I told them this dealer robbed our boat, I thought I was in the twilight zone.. I called the New Jersey State police and they found my boat and they said these guys are bad and they told them if you try to touch the title we will come after you. They found the boat and it was all messed up I just left it there and paid off the balance of the loan. A lot missing to the story And if the grammar is bad it’s because I’m using speech to text.

His wife must be my wife's sister. They always stand in the space around the lower helm so crossing from one side to the other involves "excuse me". If you are not involved in preparing to leave the dock PLEASE find somewhere to sit down😁. Oh boy, I'm in trouble now LOL
@@billwilletts If I had non-boater guests onboard I always told the guys especially to NOT try to push against pilings etc if it appeared that the boat may come in contact during maneuvering.
