    Damn that fight with the mig and flanker was nuts. Cool too see all the different radar modes being used especially that horizontal scan mode.

    One of the best things about Mirage 2000 is the Cockpit Noises and Alarms, almost everything has its own buzz and beep, except the RWR, I can't really distinguish between a lock and launch.
    i also much prefer the 4*Magic loadout, Super 530s are pretty shit and a waste of space that could've been occupied by Magics

      Pretty shit? Dude they’re like the best Fox-1 in the game after ERs, at altitude against Sparrows or 27R they’re an automatic win button.
      I also use them at close ranges sometimes, especially in tail chases because they turn like demons and burn for ages - if I could carry 4 I’d probably take them instead of Magics because I’m sick of those fuckers biting off on flares almost literally every time.

      If you fly on Fox-3 servers they probably are dead weight, since they’re never going to compete with Fox-3s.
      But in servers like this one that are limited to Fox-1s for BVR, it’s an exceptional BVR missile.
      Stupidly fast, great guidance - it even lofts.
      I’ve hit guys running from me at Mach 1 who were 13 miles away, the things will accelerate to Mach 5 if launched at max speed above 30k feet, they’re honestly insane.
      Worst thing is they have a really shitty 45 second battery life, if it weren’t for that they’d probably compete with AMRAAMs for reach, they already more or less match the 120Bs.
      Give them another go, if you wrote them off a while ago they were updated in September last year.

    Not taking the missile shot at the beginning was a good call, if it went for the friendly you'd be worse off than just waiting for the chance with guns. Also, little known DCS factoid: through either deliberate simulation or a serendipitous bug, SARH missiles can home on the wrong aircraft if a target and a friendly are in very close proximity to each other or caught in the beam together, which is why RoE is so tight even with weapons that people assume to only be able of tracking the intended target. It's caused numerous very unpleasant accidents in real life (including an accidental shootdown of an instrumented test observation aircraft during the MiG-23's acceptance trials).

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад

      WarThunder also models Fox-1s being able to track non-intended targets, they say that the radar’s side lobes offer sufficient illumination that the missile seeker can still make it out.
      There were a few “is this a bug?” style clips on the subreddit where a friendly would cross over the target and the missile would just switch to them even if the lock symbology stayed on the original guy.
      Gaijin actually deserve a lot of credit for the attention to detail in the missile modelling so if it is a bug in DCS it’s kind of upsetting that WarThunder simulates any aspect of flying or aerial combat better than “Digital Combat Simulator”.
      I even remember siding with the guys calling it a bug because I haven’t ever seen it happen in DCS, and surely that would do a better job of modelling missile mechanics than a free to play “arcade” sim-lite title.

    • @rossmum
      @rossmum Год назад

      It's hard to know for sure, because so many details about how stuff works in DCS are relatively undocumented and most of the community have no motivation to learn how shit is meant to work. IIRC DCS doesn't model sidelobes, but that might also be dogma...

    I love this plane but I suck at it so hard. I fly Mirage F1, Mig21 and F5 at enigma server and Mirage 2000C, MiG29A and Su27 in tempest server. With all planes I have very positive score 2:1 at least. With Mirage 2000 its 1:2 KD ratio. Do you have any tips how to be good in Mirage 2000C? Which tactics, weapons (when to fire them etc), how to use radar better etc....The additional problem is often I found myself headon with enemies in Mirage 2000 in tempest server and that radar which is ackward to stear and on the helmet it looks odd (as sticker). No enemy positions and infos on the HUD.

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад +1

      So the comments of a RUclips section probably aren't the best place to flesh out your knowledge of all this, most of what I know came from watching all the tutorial videos I could find - even multiple on the same topic, because different people will always explain things differently, and mention things that other people might not.
      Regarding the last bit though, where you say there's no info about enemy locations on the HUD - if you lock someone with the radar, the HUD will only display it if you have a weapon selected, so that might be the cause of that problem.
      The Mirage's radar is one of the best modelled in DCS, with solid detection for fighter size targets out to around 60nm, unlike in the Russian stuff it actually shows on the display what the elevation and depression angles are and what alt ranges your scan covers - so you've just got to cross reference info from BRA calls and chances are good you'll find them unless they're low and masking behind terrain.
      The one downside of the Mirage's radar, a probable result of how well modelled it is, is that it can often detect false contacts, especially at low altitudes - the way to tell if they're genuine or not is by their closure speed relative to you, and how many radar sweeps they stay present for. If they're closing fast and visible for multiple sweeps they're a genuine contact; then it's just a case of knowing if they're hostile or not.
      To target ID with the IFF system you need to have it switched on (rotating switch above your countermeasure programme selector all the way to the right) then to have them hard locked (PSIC lock) and for the contact to be nose hot within a certain range, when you initially lock in the Mirage it's a soft/TWS lock, called PID on the radar display to help you differentiate them. There's also a unique keybind just for cycling between PID and PSIC.
      On Tempest's server the Mirage's Fox-1s are the best available on the server by A LOT, if you get high and lob them you can effectively outrange everything - to know if it'll reach comfortably or not, there's a timer on the bottom of the HUD, G and D for left and right missiles, then a 45 second count down.
      The missile battery only lasts 45 seconds, so you need to fire when the number is under 30 to have a decent chance of hitting, the lower the timer, the better your chances of a hit. The missiles are stupid fast and launch straight off the rail rather than dropping off and then boosting away, so they have an edge over other Fox-1s even at closer ranges, they turn well and burn for a long time - if you're above 20k ft and fire in a head on under 10nm, if they don't turn cold they're practically a guaranteed kill.
      If I remember and have the time I'll try and make a Mirage 2000 guide to cover some of the things I have in the back of my mind when flying it.

      ..when I was mentioning hud I thought about not having all enemies and friendlies right on the hud but only on the radar. Ofcourse locked one is visible in square or triangle. Btw hard lock in mirage will alarm enemy rwr and with soft you cant fire 530s from greater distances.
