  • Where I have previously been playing it safe with fuel in case I need it - kind of like hoarding items for boss fights so hard they never get used - I decided to change my approach and just use my fuel with reckless abandon as long as the supply is there.
    Heavy use to produce high speeds and altitude, to get a lot done in a short time, rather than mid alt/speed for reduced potency in favour of loiter time.
    Short flights with high impact are clearly the way to go.

    Nice flying there. It was me in the low Fulcrum. I did not think you would see me that close to the ground. I had you on my HSD, i was running radar off. My plan was to fly under you and come up below you and get you with a Fox 2. But i failed.

    Having your voiceover over the comms is so immersive, very good idea! What a cool experience to watch, makes it feel like im watching a real pilot somehow :D

    Lad. You prove the perfect match as pilot and machine performing as one vis-`a-vis the Mirage 2000: Concise. Agile. Lethal. Even your commentary echoes the plane: Elegant. Concise. On-point. Mon vieux, congratulations on earning the "Ace." But then again, your vids always, well, "ace it," anyway. Well done.

    11:04 I was told by one of 51st PVO guy and they mainly fly Russian jet, he said always try to launch Fox 1 because its harder to dodge than Fox 2. In a merge there`s no need to be stealthy due to missile trail. Ofc it depend on the situation tho. Merge head on then Fox 1. Merge with advantage behind enemy then Fox 2.
    NIce Video, thanks for sharing.

    contrary to others i find the radio effect somewhat off-putting. great sorties either way keep up the good work.

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад +2

      I was originally going to only use it for commentary during the external shots to try and make out I’m having to use a radio to reach you through the canopy glass.
      But it proved very awkward to record without overly complex scripting and I’m not a voice actor so it sounded too distinctly like fresh recordings rather than a continual flow.
      Plus, I know that a pilot recording their voice would always be through the same microphone they use to communicate with everyone for any reason so I ended up just using it for the whole thing.
      Sound balancing was tricky, tried to make it sound prominent over the jet noise but also kind of behind it, like using it to talk-over the sound of the jet but without dulling the reality of the jet being the clearly louder thing.
      I’m planning on using it in future for “live” commentary and turning it off for post, so there’ll be a distinct difference between what was said at the time whilst concentrating and what I can add in post without the mental workload reducing flow.

      @@Bullet4MyEnemy Thats sounds like a good balance, i like the idea of us being “wing men” or such hearing your thought processes over radio, but at the same time also enjoy the relaxed post comm stuff.

    The radio-like commentary is interesting, do you actually record the voice in real time or when you edit?

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад

      This commentary was recorded post-flight because I didn’t have the software yet, but the radio effect is generated live rather than having to apply it to an existing audio file.

    • @averytiredman4857
      @averytiredman4857 Год назад

      Would you consider doing an episode with live commentary? You did it in the A-10 WT but I think it would be cool to see in DCS as well. Thanks for the videos.

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад +3

      It’s really hard lol, a lot of the time I end up concentrating and forgetting to say anything I’m thinking about out loud, got to really be in the zone for it.
      There will be true live commentary videos every once in a while, for sure, they’re just tough for me to set out to make, their creation is more organic.

    • @averytiredman4857
      @averytiredman4857 Год назад

      I can imagine that in combat people forget to talk lol, good to hear that some will come eventually, no pressure though.

  • @AdmiralQuality
    @AdmiralQuality Год назад

    Yep. It's a bit counterintuitive, but if you do it right burner will pay for itself by getting you up into the thin air far faster than you would at full military power.

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  Год назад +2

      My issue was always that I knew I’d be in a better place to make myself useful if I got up high and fast early, but doing it uses more than a quarter of my entire fuel load if you include the bag, which seemed really limiting.
      That’s a quite huge reduction in potential loiter time, and I have to spend the time getting up there without any guarantee there’ll actually be anyone there to shoot at, making the whole thing potentially a waste.
      I ended up flying a bit like an Me163 for this sortie; got super high and fast for the initial engagement and then gradually dived lower and lower for each subsequent kill. I don’t think it would’ve worked out if the first 3 hadn’t been practically back to back because if I’d ever spent the time to re-climb, my fuel wouldn’t have lasted.

    Aren’t the matra530’s fox 2’s and magics fox 1’s?

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  5 месяцев назад

      Nah, other way around.
      Magics are 550s, Fox-2s.
      Matras are 530s, which come in variety of flavours but on the Mirage they’re Fox-1s, the 530F is also a fox-1, but there are older variants that look like fat torpedos which can be either IR or radar guided and are carried by the Mirage F.1

    Is the Mirage 2000 a good starter plane in DCS?

    • @Bullet4MyEnemy
      @Bullet4MyEnemy  11 месяцев назад

      It is, it was what finally made things click for me, had a lot of success with it.
      Be wary of where you fly online though, servers with Fox-3 equipped enemies will make it faarrr more difficult to succeed.
