I never comment on narrowboat videos...and I watch a lot of them...but the shots with the falling leaves were absolutely mesmerising. The whole video was like watching a movie in a cinema. Beautiful.
Just found your channel and watching from the beginning...I agree with another commenter that those falling leaves were stunning photography, just beautiful 😍 ...really love your style of filming/vlogging ...side note, 4:08 🦆 my spirit animal 😄
Just found your videos and I absolutely love them! I also love checking peoples gardens. Your views are so good! And all the animals you get to see! 😍 Best wishes from Finland!
I've decided to commit to watchng your cruising videos in order. This episode has landed on Hallowe'en. What timing! Thanks for using your magnificent talent in capturing the British waterways with such grace and tempo. Kudos Kris. Kudos.
One of my favourite things about train journeys is being able to see people's back gardens, I can imagine it's even more fascinating going at a slower pace on the boat.
Hi Kris! 99% of British people will not see England the way boaters who cruise the cut see England, you will see industrial areas in use and abandoned, you will see fantastic scenery not visible from a road. You can stop a canal side pub; have a couple of drinks and not worry about getting home, as your home will be moored outside of the pub or very close, so enjoy your life on the Cut and keep the Vlogs coming, regards Mike😊😊😊
So glad you've discovered the delight s off slowing down and savouring what is around you. So many boaters have set plans, continuous cruising, set mileage in a day, mustnget to,.and miss such a lot sticking to set plans. There's always. A mooring.
We've been really enjoying watching your boating vlogs. So relaxing and artistic. Just beautiful. Can't wait to follow your journey as you go / upload. Thank you for sharing your new way of life with us ❤
I just Love any Videos about the Boating Life but I must say that your video was one of the most beautiful mesmerising videos of just cruising along….❤ I Love Water,be it River,Canal,Stream,Loch or the Sea…something about it just calms the Soul. Two of my favourite times during my childhood were boating holidays with my Father on the Norfolk Broads, that first night of being moored up in the middle of nowhere with just the sounds of nature and the gurgling of water against the side of the Boat But the most amazing thing was when it was pitch black outside and the Stars came out one by one,no light pollution and no sound pollution ( or people pollution lol 😂) I was only 13 but it was a moment that opened up my eyes to the simple things !. Another best moment was when one day it suddenly got extremely Foggy,so we had to Moor up….. It was like floating in the clouds being surrounded by the Fog and everything had stopped ?! No sound of birds or anything,it was like the World had been paused for a while. When the Fog cleared we found we were Moored on someone’s Private Mooring but when my Father went to apologise the Family were so Friendly, offering us a Lovely Cup of Tea and Cake ( Victoria Sponge Cake no less 😁 ). I hope you carry on with your videos and we are allowed to experience your journey with you xx
You make such fabulous videos, so meditatively soothing and such a pleasure to watch and listen to. I look forward to seeing more of the canals through your eyes. Thank you very much indeed. Cheers
That is what it seems to be ALL About! EXTREMLY Pro Video of things Important when Cruising when having the change in your live! I view alot of these videos because I'm as a German born & living in New Zealand never have seen the UK Country site and truly that is truly an experience. specially without the Engine noise from the Boat when traveling which is soooooo plenty of in other Videos ... GREAT video & all around VERY Pleasant!
Hi Kris, just mesmerised by your beautiful photography & Matilda, of course 😺 She seems to have settled so well. We're hoping to get our narrowboat later this year & have 2 cats, but we're really anxious about how they'll cope, any advise greatly appreciated 💕
Thanks so much! She's taken to it really well bless her, I was worried. We brought her on with all her things, so she had her familiar smells from blankets and her usual food and water bowl etc. She hid for a few hours down the side of the bed when we first brought her on, but once she heard us talking and moving around as normal that seems to have convinced her that it was safe and she was ok from then on! I got a her a little felt cave to give her a quiet place to retire to, which she actually uses to sleep in sometimes (not a given as I'm sure you know with cats!) but mostly she hangs out on the sofa. She's always been indoors, so I don't have any advice about the going outside element though!
My wife loved the cat press conference. Do you think you will keep doing weekly videos or is it a short series? I'm sure I speak for a lot of people, that we need more of your videos in our life.
Haha, I’ll pass that on to Matilda. Thank you! This part is a kind of standalone mini series, but the aim is to continue with more current weekly vids going forward :)
My new fav narrowboat channel. Love the lush Photography and your hypnotic voice. I am curious to see how the more relaxed lifestyle will change you as you clearly know how to relax being an avid book reader.
This is (seems to me) a documentation of quite an impressive change in a person! A sign that I did subscribe to the channel I thought this was! I wish you, me, and all your viewers that you are going to really settle into the lifestyle of the cut!
We spent from 04-Nov-22 to second week of March in Great Haywood Marina (only supposed to be 2 weeks after I injured myself but liked it so much we stayed). The farm shop was our favourite place, we loved it, spent hundreds in there over Winter!
Love your honesty. Adjusting is a worthwhile thing if at sometimes hard. You are enjoying the beauty god made and man made .. Thanks for sharing your new life with us ...
Your filming and editing is amazing! Watched this vlog on Monday morning and all my worries for the day completely disappeared and your voice is so soporific! Love it!
What a wonderful video. Superb camera skills, lovely drone shots, splendid commentary One of the best canal vlogs I've seen for a very long time. You have brought a lot of sunshine into my life for which I thank you. I'm looking forward to your next video very much. In the meantime, stay safe please.
Just watched Never to late vlog and they where in canal side farm shop before I watched yours. Thought that's a nice place and da da there it is again love your vlogs. Keith
We own a cabin by a lake in the woods here in Ontario. We're 30 minutes from the nearest small town and have just spent a week there. The first day, the mind is still racing, catching up, but by day three, I can feel the entire body just relaxing as the pace slows down. I lived on a boat in London 20 years ago, and the feeling is very similar.
I’ve got a question: Has your new way of life impacted your work creativity? The beauty of the canal landscape is stunning, it inspires me even from my sofa. ☺️
We love your format and photography. We live in Thailand but have bought a narrowboat so will be retuning part-time this year. Looking forward to your future vlogs.
I had my former pb pike from great heywood I’m from Stafford I love watching all your videos but this is really special too me!!❤ hopefully you go past my favourite pub the plume of feathers in barlaston stoke on trent
What a joy to slow down with you for my afternoon tea here in Ontario, Canada. We viewers often forget that the distance covered is not the point here. I sort of feel you have come many miles as travel vlogs often whiz from London to Edinborough before I can get the kettle on! You have an artist's eye and I loved the slow-motion falling leaves and the duck having a bath. I'll join you again if I may? I'll hit "subscribe" John, Ontario, Canada
Love how beautiful your videos are. We bought a NB in Sowerby bridge in April 2021 and it took us more than a year to get to London! We are still making mad plans and remaking them. Logically I know now it's pointless as things change, break etc... It's not like the rest of the world. Canal ac planner is really useful but I change the days to 5 hours as we never go as fast as they reckon you can. Happy travels
Have truly enjoyed the first 4 videos of your narrowboat vlog. Have loved the scenery and your narration as you travel along the cut. I love the way you seem to be adjusting to the change of pace your life has taken. In your 1st vlog you talked about buying a widebeam but decided against it because of the width restrictions. I'm just wondering if you will face similar restrictions because of the length of your current boat ( 70 ft ), especially with locks along the canal system? So looking forward to future vlogs as you continue your journey on the cut, and wish you many enjoyable adventures ahead. Fair winds.
Thank you very much! There are some canals up north that we're too long for, but on balance we were happy with the trade off for the extra space. If we weren't liveaboard and both working on the boat, it wouldn't have mattered so much and we could have got something much shorter, but we were super happy to find this boat which had space for us both to have a little office each. But ask me again in a year or so if I still think the same!
Loving your vlog. I have Matildas brother from another mother. His name is Ugly. I think Great Hayward is a fab place and have taken a holiday boat there a few times. Please keep up the vlogs they are very relaxing
I am loving the depth of field and some of the focus pulls - all very "filmic" - are you colour balancing in post prod or is this how it comes straight from the card? --- great edit!
Thank you! I’m colour grading from F-Log with some homemade LUTs, so there’s a fair bit of post production but I wanted to learn how to do video anyway so it made sense.
@@krisatomic well its really worth the effort. That kit you have really drinks in a lot of detail and its one of the things that sets you apart from the (many) other narrow boat channels who are more "point and shoot" with just basic editing rather than spending time on post production. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! For this whole series it's the FUJIFILM X-T2 and X-T3 with a variety of lenses, though my X-T3 has just died after an unfortunate dip in the canal. Edited in Final Cut Pro :)
We’re lucky as we’ve always been self employed, but I think it’s perhaps easier on the whole now because remote work is so normal. Not possible for all jobs though, of course.
Great filming and editing... fab music... nice storytelling... thank you! Love the boat inside and outside, too. Plus the cat! 👍👏🐈⬛
❤️❤️❤️
I never comment on narrowboat videos...and I watch a lot of them...but the shots with the falling leaves were absolutely mesmerising. The whole video was like watching a movie in a cinema. Beautiful.

Just beautiful! Love seeing peoples gardens along canal, your life is lovely. Your cat looks fed up 😾
That’s just her face 😂
Loving your journey! The narrative brings back such great memories of my visits to the UK countryside!
I am enjoying your vlogs so much. They are visually beautiful and calm. Thank you for sharing your adventure, I'm looking forward to watching more.
Thanks so much Gillian, much appreciated ❤️
What a wonderful style you have , how lovely ❤😊 thank you
Thank you! 😊
This music is giving me ELO/The Flaming Lips/Passion pit vibes 🥰🥰🥰
Love that!!
Donut cutters lol, and everyone seems to take a picture of Uranus boat. Beautiful photography👍🏼
Such lovely scenery from your boat...Thank you for sharing
Visually beautiful, and so softly narrated, along with the humour, thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you :)
Very kind, thank you :)
