WINTER CAMPING in a DIY CAMPER TRAILER using only a WOOD STOVE for HEAT

- With the snow storm of the century quickly approaching I find a perfect place to camp with Eddie, my DIY travel trailer, and explore the winter landscape before the blizzard arrives and things get too extreme. My cubic mini grizzly wood stove keeps things perfectly warm and as a bonus I use it to help with the cooking as well.

I like that you don’t try to mess around with how you start your fire I see a lot of people try to do too much when they have the ability to make it simple and just enjoy camping
Thanks 👍
I'm in New Mexico. That snow is beautiful, and you film it beautifully. I'm old enough to be your dad and all I can say is...I wish you'd been my father. I love this stuff. Keep sharing as I'm old and can't do too much of this kind of stuff anymore. All the best to you and yours young man.
Thanks Jeff. Best to you too.
Hey J L, what region of NM.?

@@ellafields9424 Hi Ella. You lucky duck, living in the Gila area. I'm in good old Albuquerque. At least we do have a lot of great Mexican Restaurants. And Happy New Year to you too!

What a great set-up, really awesome park too. Will have to give it go with my son. Trailer is awesome and I was really impressed by your bike. Going to have to see your other videos. Greetings from Stittsville.
Thanks for watching!
It`s so beautiful ! 😍
Awesome looks like fun
It is!
Thanks for sharing Scott!!
Anytime. Happy holidays
What a beautiful place.❤️
It really is!
Arrowhead Provincial Park just outside of Huntsville my own stomping grounds, thanks so much for sharing, from Hay River Northwest Territories
Glad you enjoyed it. I plan to bring my trailer up that way in a year or two.
@@DrenalinAdventures You will love the north, but it's better in summer with all the daylight. Enjoy!
Merry Christmas from Sweden ;)
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you.
what is the name of that folding bike? I never knew bikes were made like that. Awesome.
The company name is Heybike
Did you see any Big foot tracks ...?
It is quite remarkable how many You Tube videos precisely follow the Winter Experience formula. Invariably it involves a camper/trailer/tent/cabin setting, soothing music, drone footage, meal preparation, cutting firewood…and, of course, snow that does not appear to have been touched by anyone else. There’s nothing quite like lounging in a warm, comfortable room, watching someone else freeze his or her ass off.
You got the formula for a successful RUclips video despite the fact that your subtle remark went over the heads of almost everyone commenting and liking here. I spent the winter of 2009/10 here in a caravan that only had low wattage electricity and if I tried to plug in more than one fan heater, it blew all the fuses. I ended up with every blanket I owned on me and another blocking out the drafts of the doorway - Oh how I would have been grateful for a Wood Burning Stove which my caravan now has and what a difference it is, you can survive well and cook upon it, put roasts inside of it in foil or not. I'd laugh at Minus 30 degrees Celsius in such a situation as long as you have enough firewood.
@@RobertsBulgaria Another thing I am increasingly convinced of is that these Winter Experience vids are often barely more than day trips, organized to get just enough footage. Then the person goes home to a comfortable apartment or house and edits the video. There’s much of a cell signal in remote areas for uploading a big You Tube file.
@@thardyryll 😁 Of course they do. I only have to click on my Subscriptions to see numerous, 'Overnight SOLO in Winter conditions' which in the UK means Minus 1-4 and of course, they're hot tenting, waddling in with all of the expensive equipment from their nearby parked 4x4's that they mostly don't know how to drive correctly and wham, 50k views. It is what it is, but some of the Thumbnails make me laugh. I would love to post one such as, 'Overnight in Oymyakon at Minus 51 C. without a tent or sleeping bag, watch me freeze to death'. 🤦😉🤷
What cracks me up are the we have to watch them hike past the camera like it magically got there itself. I don’t care about the artsy fartsy views or watching you walk past the camera and ignore it. Just let’s see the camping.
@@Irish_Vader ...and who the hell likes to watch someone chop firewood for twenty minutes?
Winter camping is the best; no people, no bears and no bugs. Thanks for sharing this. Your repoire with the beautiful birds says a lot about your character. Appreciated.
Thanks for watching!
The scene with the birds was the best
thanks
Good job with the CGI photoshopped pictures of the birds
Blahaha. You’re definitely overestimating my talents 😂
Looked like a great time!! Love how you converted a cargo trailer into a cozy little camper!
Thanks but I actually built it from scratch. You can watch the entire build on my channel.
Loved this one especially! Your homegrown camper is perfect! Such impressive details in it! I love seeing more of Canada! Michigan lady here across the river from Sarnia. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. It’s obvious! ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Man, you’ve taken your videography up a notch! Loved the content. How’s you get those birdies to trust you?😂 Eddie is a Jack of all options. Love the inside. Is this the same trailer with the pullout drawers on the side that you took with your two buddies in the summer? Looks so different. Had a blast watching as usual Scott🤗
Thanks so much!! Yes it's the same trailer. Getting better all the time. Thanks for enjoying the video, I really look forward to doing more wildlife videography in the future. and, those birds just don't know very well, lol.
I would have to strongly agree. This content is awesome, and I really enjoy.
Those birds can feel your soul. I’m a truck driver, and I have hand fed many that have landed on the mirror while I’m sitting eating my lunch.
You're actually living my dream life !! Thanks for the visual treat. I wish one fine day I'm able to do what you're doing 🙂 ✨️
You can do it!
Hi I'm going to replicate your tasty and simple sandwich. Could you give us the ingredients? Thanks.
The video is a 10 brotha! I love my Apple Watch Ultra!! I HIGLY recommend using the Trackback/wayfinder feature when you go on a hike or bike ride away from camp it will bring you right back to base camp after you get done exploring! I use it all the time on my hikes and it's extremely accurate getting back to where I started from! More night footage would be great!
Thanks 👍
I must've missed something. Can you help me understand why it is you started that fire outside when you were in your camper getting warm?
Why did you build a fire outside?
This is in Canada I would be afraid of bears coming around but I guess they are hibernating this time of the year
The algorithm from RUclips showed me this video for the first time.
• I am watching from Melaka, Malaysia 🇲🇾✌🏻
That’s awesome 👍
What does this have to do with the camper? This is just bushcraft with extra steps.
Nice little setup.Scenery and wildlife’s beautiful🤩 I think most people watching this would love to be in your shoes 😏i know i would.keep the vids coming sir! Good stuff 😁
Thank you so much 😁
Isn't the bush beautiful with snow, love being out there when it's like that.
Can I ask where you purchased the replacement axle? I'm looking at starting my build.
Cerka industries in Milton.
That where I have been looking, thanks.
What was the fire outside for? The way it was edited was as if you started the fire, then went inside for the rest of the evening.
Your living my dream . I enjoyed your video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Scott, this has to be one of the best videos you have done! Honestly it’s awesome to see and that’s one park I have yet to go to but have it on the list.
Do you mind if I ask where you found that butane canister torch?
Thanks Alex, the torch is made by Snow Peak. I got it at REI.
ridiculous, you forgot the nuclear central and the jacuzzi
Oh my gosh the birds.. the birds were absolutely incredible what an awesome experience I hope they followed you back to camp and you fed them
Love the video. I have a silly question because I have seen others do this and I never knew why. Why do you light a fire outside of the camper? I thought maybe you would cook on it, but you didn't. What is the purpose of the fire outside? TIA!!! Susie
I’ve gotten that question a lot. I simply didn’t film myself enjoying it that night. I never imagined it would become such a common question. Lol.
Beautiful place . That door on the trailer wouldn't provide you much protection from wild animals , two or four legged . Your in heaven ! 🙏🔥
Thanks. I’ve spent my life camping in tents so the door is a big improvement 👍
@@DrenalinAdventures yes I understand but these days are a bit unsafer . We have to look out for one another .🙏🙏🤣
이 아재 마늘빵 스테이크 지대로네~ why snow camping is so nice?
Those 2 sparrows trust you and land on your finger is awesome!! It's a nice & enjoyable content!! love to see many more
Thank you
Chickadees
Thank you for allowing us to experience this. Beautiful scenery and amazing facilities.
Glad you enjoyed it
Outstanding!................ Can I say that and not get kicked out of Putnam County, Florida?
Can’t see why not 👍
My name is Stephen winter and I was never aware of arrowhead provincial Park even though my family has a summer house on lake of bays thanks for the presentation
You’re very welcome 👍
Love this content man I’m wanting to build my own camper slowly getting everything together
thanks, feel free to check out my other videos, I have 27 episodes of how i built it.
What about Mr. Andrew Hoxkcocket
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year .
Loved your build and recap of the costs.
Whilst not a low cost option I guess much less than a purchased camper and one you can take pride in having done it yourself.
Great little camper looking to see how you fit out the shower.
Thanks
Watching some camping videos and yours popped up. I subscribed and first thing I noticed was your custom built camper which is first class, the workmanship of the door and first thing I said to myself was those camper steps are solid. Thanks for the video I'm definitely going to watch your next one
Welcome aboard!
Canada is such a beautiful country, especially in the winter. Thanks for the calming video!
You’re welcome
I have a 20ft travel trailer that had been more or less gutted on my property that I stay in most of the time since my farm animals are there. No skirting, no extra insulation, just a camp stove and the windows covered and the door at night has a thick curtain down on it. If it gets down to the negatives then I just get up every 3 hours to stoke the fire and it tends to be around 40 to 50 in those Temps.
I do have a house in town but honestly I enjoy being on the property a heck of a lot more.
Nature is great
Nice to see Eddy became Adult ;-) I am wondering how good the isolation works, when the Woodstove (Grizzly?) goes out over night?
This is some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen! I wanna go!
thank you
warding off those pesky frozen woods vampires with all that garlic
trying my best
Now there’s a man who loves his garlic!
Beautiful and great camp. I saw the sandwich and beer. I hope many more joyous and camping outings are to come. Cheers!
I hope so too!
I camped out one time in the Mt. Hood National Forest for 4 days. The first three days were beautiful but the fourth day I woke up to 6 inches of snow.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada where did you buy the folding extension ladder looking handy
Just got it on Amazon
Beautiful video. I think I'm asking an obviously simple question, but why did you build the fire outside? Is it for the aesthetics or some other purpose.
I never filmed myself enjoying it. Sometimes I’m just too busy for my own good.
@@DrenalinAdventures Thanks! You don't have to film every moment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Another great video Scott. Looks like a great place for a little winter get away to do some snowshoeing!!
Thanks Jim. I highly recommend it. I’ll be going back with D soon.
Cool video , you've got it made compared to that other guy with the pop up tent .
thanks
Another great video Scott, thanks for posting. I'm thinking of building a trailer for my trapping adventures. I require the ability to load a quad or a sled in the trailer so barn doors would be a must. The box cover you load your ATV on really isn't an option on my Tacoma. Happy New Year to you and D.
You too Dino. Thanks.
@9:09 bro that's wild!!! I never would have believed it if it wasn't filmed.!! Amazing
thanks.
Why the outside fire the first night?
Awesome
The. Snow is Beautiful
Wonderful camping view. Nice trailer setup
Thanks so much!
It made me smile when you used the back of your hatchet to clear snow from that log... preserving the blade... but was surprised when you used the sharp edge of your knife to scrape food from your cutting board... dulling the blade. 5:38 💖🌞🌵😷
That is quite a lot of garlic!
Those birds at 9.15 ...wow..
It's good to know that snow camping is available. Early on in my research and search for snow camping, I couldn't find anything concrete and reliable. But seeing this tells me not to give up yet cause I will eventually find it.
what brand is your 2 burner propand stove?
GSI pinnacle
It looks great
Where in Canada? Are in the Rocky mountains?
I think that this is how God intended us to live when retirement or other circumstances permit. We have a small cottage in NE Wisconsin; a few neighbors but not really close. I enjoy staying there for several days at a time, living simply. Wood stove for heat, easy meals, and good books to read after “chores” are done. Then we have to return home to this messed up country and world. So depressing.
Greetings from Orillia! Very impressed with your camper build. I see you went to Arrowhead, I wanted to go there this winter but illness in the family made me cancel. I think they have 6 pull through sites through the winter, were you in one of them? I assume they plow that area to give you vehicle access? I have a 12 foot pop up camper with a rotted roof that I plan to convert to a small hard shell camper that I can use in the winter. I hope to use it at Arrowhead in winter 2024....great video, it inspires many people to DIY build and get out there....
I really like these camping in ghe woods/countryside videos. The only thing that gets on my damn nervs is, its always like just watching a bloody 'Cooking Video'..with most, that is all you see..🙈.. ifni wanted just watch people cooking, then i would go to a cooking channel.
No offence to this particular video, but i just had to mention it now as it drives me mad!!
The fumes of your barbecue fire starters are the least of your problems.. I noticed the amount of garlic on your sandwich.. What's the purpose of a fire outside if you have one inside? Some people are funny about picking up store-bought wood. They think it takes away from the allure of roughing it.. I have no problem with that it puts money directly into the local economy.. This is my 1st video on this channel and by the way you're explaining the barbecue fire starter and the packaged wood it's only because you're pressed for time you're messing with those items... I enjoyed
Not légal in Canada
First time watching your channel. I don't get all of the products, why wouldn't you use the coals from outside to start your woodstove? Why the torch, paper and smaller kindling would have worked the same. It feels like one long commercial, infomercial.
Beautiful scenery ! Nice set up
Thank you very much!
Totally awesome it's electric bike
Yes 👍
Bro. You have literally NOTHING to do. Turn the fire down, Enjoy the cook. Love ya Pal
Seems like a decent person. I'll probably see him on America's most wanted for saying that.
Thank you... I enjoy the video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful photography. Is that some kind of special snow bike? I’ve never seen anyone ride a bike in the snow. It looks like fun.
Eddie works great in winter! Found a terrific spot in the park. Beautiful scenery in winter white coloured spruce trees and fast moving water over boulders👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Couldn't agree more! thanks.
Looks great except your food (bread). It would be much better if you make your own bread or prefer some whole wheat bread.
I know what you mean. The wife of a friend of mine visited there and she said the same thing... "I can't wait to get back here and bring my husband next time."
I love camping, but it is still dream for me, bcoz i can't afford it at the moment, i don't have enough money
Was that five cloves of garlic on that sandwich? You might need to keep that in the ammo box! :)
❓️ How do you keep the Walls and Roof and Table Top From Catching on Fire ♨️
Awesome video, and that sandwich looked every bit of amazing!!
I see you've been to the Steve Wallis school of fire starting 🤣 Hunker Down!
What did you put on that sandwich? For a second I thought it was butter slices, then I figured it must be cheese of some sort.
This is the sort of setup i want to do year round. Having a hard time finding places in canada that allow it. Any tips?
Please, can you tell where I can get a wood stove like yours? Brand name, size?
Bummer me out when you said WIFE !! Lol besides that loved the adventure
Lote of love from Pakistan
Thanks.
That camper won’t last long freezing then heating over and over destroys them
Why did you light a fire in the outdoor pit (with wood you paid for) then go inside and light another to cook on? Seems like a waste of money and wood to me
The garlic clove sammich's ensure no female comes within 5 miles of his camp site....
