Yeah , when I retire that's what I'm looking to do , get good pickup , little tow behind , or camper in back , then off I go me and my Boston terrier , she will be pretty old , but hope she can go along ,
I built a 10x6 6.5 tall on a tent trailer frame and upgraded the axle. 2x3 walls and plywood with a galvanized metal roof. Metal insulated house door chopped down and one window over the sink. Diesel heater, exterior vented and interior fed garbage hatch. Murphy bed, 40” tv, generator, shore power hook up, manual foot pump sink from water jog to bucket. USB shower stall/ bathroom. I moved it onto a farm a few weeks ago and moved in full time. It’s doing me perfect and I don’t mind the minimal set up at all. It’s standing height and still has enough room for doing my work outs inside. I got shire power here and Ben a covered slip for winter. I’m so glad I decided to go this route, best decision ever.
I lost my home a couple years ago and live in my 40 yr old RV made of wood and polyurethane skin with inch and a half thick walls. This winter not being too bad so I was able to keep us warm at 65-68° with my electric radiator heaters. (My furnace no longer works) Last winter got -10° and we struggled to keep it at 50-55° inside. I had to stay bundled and my dogs huddled up and I covered them with a quilt. Being disabled keeps me from being able to do repairs but God has been with US and kept us sheltered so I'm not complaining just sharing how camper life has it's challenges. But overall it's been pleasant and we are happy. 👍
get a small woodburner installed, & that way, you can allways keep warm, & there is plenty of wood laying about, usuly everywhere, such as pallets, etc etc, or like in the video, park somewhere out of the way & get a camp fire going every night, & you be able to cook for free too, whether on a woodburner or a camp fire, or both
@@michaelgoulding6609 Actually, I saw a couple videos about them and I have room for it. Definitely interested and will be looking into that, hopefully it's affordable. 👍
Absolutely, dogs don’t complain and are just happy to be with you! I always bring 1 of our dogs whilst solo camping, my wife is afraid of the woods so she rarely goes with me. Actually, I think that she has a phobia about the woods, I say to her you are safer here than back in the City, although there has been a few Serial killers in dem there Woods. You just never know!
First time to this channel, and this was the first video. I watched up until he was throwing the wood from the truck, never looking to see where the dog was. Left off watching then, not a true dog lover. I wouldn't have done that with my trained gun dogs. Won't be back. DRC.
Oh they complain and give opinions all the time, lol. Mine can be a pain but the big girl barks off the bears and knows to retreat from moose, I wouldn't go with out her watching my back.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy summer camping. But there is something magical and therapeutic about being out there in the late fall and winter (as long as you're prepared for it).
Camped out in my suburban in -10°! Ran the engine till I was done with dinner then crawled into my sleeping bag. The bag is good for -20°! It got so hot in that bag I had to strip down to just boxers! Best gift I ever got! Plenty of room with the 3rd row removed and rear seats folded down! Love camping in the cold!❤
Thanks for sharing this cold weather experience with us. It proves that a small teardrop camper Can be used even in the coldest conditions as long as you are well prepared! Having your pup along was the best !
I love winter camping. North Dakota in February is wonderful if you have the right gear. A good tent, a good insulating mattress, and most importantly, an arctic quality sleeping bag. Glad you enjoyed your overnight, get out there with about 3 feet of snow. That's when it's fun!
I’m in Sask and my camper is left in a seasonal at the lake year around. I’ve camped in it in minus 40 some weekends when out ice fishing. They heat up fine but the furnace runs a fair bit so you just need to make sure you have enough propane… it’s the best

I am older than you, and just watching you setting up tired me out. I've always been an outdoorsman but as I got older, I started taking practical short cuts on overnight stays such as taking original Thermos containers full of soups, coffee or anything I wanted to keep hot. The Thermos' kept everything hot for just over four hours which was about the same time I could sleep outdoors in the cold or hot weather anyway. Oh yeah, secure generator or anything that you don't want to get stolen from your tailgate or campsite, too many thieves lately. I'm no Jeramiah Johnson, so I no longer jump from the roofs of my campers to find out if it's going to hurt. Thanks for sharing.

My ratio is like one bag per night and condensation is near nullified. Just a possible help in staying dry in cold camping, staying warm is another thing 😁🖖🏼
I'd bet most of the condensation came from cooking inside with propane and running the buddy heater. Propane gives off a lot of moisture. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I enjoyed this video, being middle age myself, I can relate to the slight limitations of not being able to jump off the tailgate with ease for example as we used to in our younger years. I also liked the fact that that you have become more practical and safety conscious in the way which you conducted your extreme cold weather "experiment" in your teardrop camper. I have also left the "watch this" mindset of my youth behind. Thank you for posting this video, it was enjoyable to watch.

A little trick because I'm from northern Canada. We would go winter camping to the log cottage and we don't waste wood or fuel at night. Keep it 73-75 all day to remove the dampness and buy warm sleeping bags and sleep in silence. Also cut or buy the Styrofoam toilet seat it feels like electric heat when your skin touches it.

I’ve did this before way back in my early 20s . It’s not so bad if you have a propane heater . In younger days in scouts we winter camped old school, 2 nights of primitive camping. In a tent, no generator, no space heater. Had 0⁰ sleeping bags. Cooked with basic items, flat rock one time lol. Staying mobile for warmth. Nothing like waking up to 3" of snow and dealing with it. Thankfully our scoutmaster was a true tennessee outdoorsman and neighbor (thanks Mr. C) Great memories in southern Ohio.
Agree.. the best time to camp is winter. It's even more so when you're in a country like Australia. Where day time temperatures can sit around 38C/100F average, from 6am.. 🥵. Winter is so much better!
I have the same tag but the Outback version. I wouldn't use any gas stove inside it and I'm not comfortable with the idea of using the buddy heater in there either(maybe under an extreme emergency) its just asking for trouble. I've slept in mine down to -25C relying on a good electric heater(while running gen) and a great sleeping bag. Be safe guys and gals.
I love this video! Because we live in South Texas, we don’t cold weather camp very often. It’s nice to know of heating elements that could help keep our trailer warm in those rare events.
Used to have a group of 10 or so that got together ever month fall, winter and spring. Ocean, lakes or mountain. Had to have water around. In the NC mountains we ran into some really bad winter storms with sleet, rain and snow but we never quit. A tear will fit almost completely in a large EZup type cover with the solid walls. Major help. We have wagon trained them and covered with huge tarps. If we had electric we might have had a small heater. Campgrounds would all be empty but for us. Too old for that now and the people stopped but great times for all for about 6 - 8 years. We would do a 'Trailer trash Christmas' gathering the first weekend of December with enough decorations for suburban block or two for each camper. A lot of fun to see who could have the most overdone decorations.
It's all about preparedness. I was a mountaineer in my younger days, spent plenty of nights in a sleeping bag, tent or even snow cave at 0F and colder. Modern gear is really amazing.
My favorite time of the year to camp. I have a NuCamp T@B Comfy inside, 62 deg @ 4 above. For a two night trip it works great. Much nicer than tenting like in the past at those temps. Got soft in my old age! Love the gunshots. Hunting, gunshots, the smell of the fallen leaves, and a smokey campfire! NO BUGS! Go for a hike and no sweat needed. Can`t wait.
I agree... but how are they going to change things if it goes off? If he lets in too much air he freezes... and too little it goes off again. I guess what I mean is what's the smallest minimum air hole size for these?
Chief, I know it was COLD! 😱😵! This experiment proved the value of every piece of gear-camper included-proved it's worth for cold weather camping. A native michigander mysels, with relatives in the U.P. You've earned respect from SO many people-wat Hing you do this challenge!👍🐻⭐⭐⭐😲 Doug
I've go in my T@g to -30 C. One tip I would give you is that an ice fishing hut (the quick, pop-up kind), with a Buddy Heater, works quite nicely to give you the extra space (and stand-up room) as well as a nice warm spot to cook and eat. For me, colder than -30 is not worth the risk, as I am on my own, usually in places with no cell service, and if something happens, I would be in serious trouble until help came.
I did 8 degrees F in my work van in central PA State Forest in a snow / wind storm. Down bag was fine in my underwear... just don't move or get dressed, lol. Absolutely no problem other than some boredom.
I wish a company would build a true all season camper, when I say all season I live on the east coast of Canada, nothing I know that is built today can handle the winters we have
I lived in a so called four season travel trailer for several weeks at a time over a 5 year period while working in northern Montana. I had to cover all of the interior floor with dense foam insulation and carpet to stop the majority cold entering. Also filled in the most of the windows with foam also. As low as Negative 30 degrees at times any uninsulated area becomes very noticeable.
Craziest part to me is how tiny that thing looks on the outside and how spacious and cozy it looks inside, loll. I'm genuinely both impressed and perplexed by that. :)
Just stumbled across this video. Nicely done. I have lived in a 5th wheel for the last 7 years. I like these tear drop campers a lot. One of those would be really nice for going out camping and fishing I think.
Nice video! I camp in my 5 x 10 Homebuilt. I love winter camping. I head to the mountains whenever I can, and there’s beauty to be had every single season. Will look for more videos!
I have to say of all the vids of cosy little camping homes like these...this appeals the most because it's so modern and clean inside, I'd definitely be ok with sleeping in there.
Pro tip- In very cold weather With your tab invest in a all the fashion twelve volt windshield defroster. This is a small electric heater that runs off the twelve wolf power plug. It can not heat the cabin But it Does take the chill off of it so you're not going in ice cold.
I used to have a Comet Teardrop that was manufactured in 1958. I bought it in 1994 and used it on many hunting trips. It had belonged to a old gentleman who owned a pallet company, he was terminally ill and knew I was interested in buying it. Not long before he passed, randomly one day during a visit he asked if I'd pay 250.00 for the trailer. Two tires and a can of Kool Seal for the roof and it was as good as new. So many deer and turkey hunting memories were made with that trailer, it even survived a Oklahoma tornado one spring!
I own the same model Teardrop Camper....Kept it heated with a little 1200 -1500 watt ceramic heater at -14 degrees Fahrenheit in Ely Nevada in winter comfortably either on generator power or campground power supply. Much less condensation than propane heaters.
Mike I always enjoy watching these outdoors winder camping. These are some campers who go solo and without a dog or fire arm. I must say that while watching the video you spoke about going outside to get a roasted potato and I am in Jamaica and I about to boil a potato. I love sweet potatoes in any style.
I couldn’t camp like that… the noise from a generator ruins it for me as I love the silence of the night mixed with animal sounds and a crackling fire!
We had a Little Guy 5 Wide and sold it. The reasons we bought it was our CRV can tow it, a guy in Ohio won it and sold it to us new for $5K! How do you like it and why you chose a teardrop?
We like the teardrop for many reasons, most of all the ease of towing, off-road capability and overall efficiency. Plus it still “feels” like camping. I’m going to be making a video about this soon. Thanks for tuning in!
Great video man. I'm in Cleveland and HAVE to get down and explore some of the great camping areas in the southern part of the state. Thanks for posting this. Loved it.
I miss hearing “squeaky snow”. I live on the west coast now to getaway from blizzards, etc. But, on occasion those winter sounds are so missed. But, not the frozen nose hairs. 🤣
Thank you for the video about these Tear Drop campers . It's good information and now I see how these manufacturers aren't doing too well making them airtight . Obviously there's alot of room for improvement. Those areas where frost developed are because of air leaking and wind drafts. --maybe throwing a canvas tarp over the trailer with tie downs might help reduce that .
Just found you and must say I enjoyed. Love your buddy and the game of chase. Hope you didn't hurt your self to bad with that slip. Can't wait to check more content. Be safe be well brother Brandon from wylie tx
Appreciate you doing this video. Thank you as I did enjoy learning some of the problems as well as joys of winter camping. I have 4 dogs do also enjoyed seeing you play with your fur baby. Safe camping!
I wondered if you have considered a battery powered inverter generator ,you could easily power everything and then the next day recharge it within a hour or 2 to full capacity. No noise and easy to store also ,
I love your video I just wondered did you leave your Mr. buddy heater on most of the night to? I love that little heater because as soon as I turn it on it’s instant heat and I had one for five years and just bought a new one. Oh yeah and I’m a new subscriber to. I just loved your video. Thank you for sharing.
Near Zero… that’s T-Shirt weather. I wonder how it would fare at -20F, -30F, -40F. We do snow shelters down to -50F here in interior Alaska. It stays surprisingly comfortable in a snow cave at -40F. Some aluminum foil, reflectex, and a couple of tea lights will bring it up above freezing.
That buddy heater puts out a lot of condensation due to the propane fuel. You would be better off using a second small ceramic space heater with a thermostat.
Butain stoves are safe to be used inside .... The stove he's using is a backpackers stove...definitely not advisable in a camper that is basically nothing but bedding materials.
I agree with Tolbat, name brand teardrop campers are for "hipsters" now and not affordable for regular blue-collar folk. They're full of amenities and are "cute". urrrrg.
We use a popup tent trailer for elk hunting and just sleep in warm sleeping bags and a warm hat overnight. Overnight lows are in the 0F - 25F range. Running the heat overnight is just a waste of fuel. If you are going to run heat overnight, make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector.
I hear ya. I’m not into hunting, more so hiking and exploring. I also get claustrophobic bundled up in sleeping bags. Much more comfortable hanging out in a t-shirt and able to move freely for those long nights. Finally just got a diesel heater, which you’ll be seeing in future videos. Thanks for the comment!

My favorite time of year to camp is winter! Easy to stay warm when you get used to it and prep well.
I totally agree!
Agree.. the best time to camp is winter. It's even more so when you're in a country like Australia. Where day time temperatures can sit around 38C/100F average, from 6am.. 🥵. Winter is so much better!
One thing I really like about winter camping is you don’t have to put up with obnoxious neighbors. Dogs are the best! Enjoyed.
Agree. Those Buddy propane heaters work great. It warms my tent up very cozy.
Nice job , great content and editing . Takes one away from the crazy goings on that we have these days. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this video!
Because we live in South Texas, we don’t cold weather camp very often. It’s nice to know of heating elements that could help keep our trailer warm in those rare events.
Thank you!
I live in Harlingen...
The person currently scrolling through the comments, have a nice day, friend
Thanks, you too!
And you ol mate
YOU TOO, AND GOD BLESS YOU
Thanks! 😊
God bless
Great little set-up. Nicely done! Such a cute doggie friend!
Well done, realistic outdoor, the cold is something many underestimate, generator fire wood and food, Well done
Thanks 👍
Sounds awesome!
It's all about preparedness. I was a mountaineer in my younger days, spent plenty of nights in a sleeping bag, tent or even snow cave at 0F and colder. Modern gear is really amazing.
Great video. I am surprised that this camper does not have a propane heater. Our Sunray 109 does and it really helps with winter campouts.
Can`t wait.
Very well said!! Thank you for watching!
Juniper is a great looking Pup !!! Our dogs are definitely wonderful companions !!!
The buddy heaters are nice, but make sure you have an O2 detector. They might not give off much CO, but they'll burn a lot of oxygen.
I agree... but how are they going to change things if it goes off? If he lets in too much air he freezes... and too little it goes off again. I guess what I mean is what's the smallest minimum air hole size for these?
Burning a 1-pound propane tank will create 1.6 pounds of moisture in that small space, as demonstrated by the frost/water build-up on the walls.
Great tip!
-30C is -22F for those curious, very cold indeed.
15:00 You're supposed to look at the camera and say "I meant to do that." I love winter camping videos.
😂 glad you enjoyed it!
Craziest part to me is how tiny that thing looks on the outside and how spacious and cozy it looks inside, loll. I'm genuinely both impressed and perplexed by that. :)
This particular model is the Boondock XL. It's a little wider than a typical teardrop camper.
@@NowhereBoundAdventures Haha wow crazy. Thanks for the info, you have a new subscriber. :)
I'm surprised that Buddy heater on full blast didn't make your place like a sauna.. thanks for the show.
I’m currently living in the Philippines and I really miss winter camping when it’s clear and cold, thanks for posting 👍💪🏻🇺🇸
Thank you for watching!

Looked like fun, puppy was sure happy. Thank you for sharing
It was! Thanks for watching!
Your camper looks cozy. Your dog is adorable. Thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you! 😊
What a lovely cosy teardrop. Your dog was in dog heaven.
Just stumbled across this video. Nicely done. I have lived in a 5th wheel for the last 7 years. I like these tear drop campers a lot. One of those would be really nice for going out camping and fishing I think.
Thank you! Yes, we love it!
Justin...
Your living my dream life, of 1 day living in my camper full time!
Doing a Diesel heater with my setup and it works perfect
It's amazing how much space is in these little tear drops 👍 great videos, I'm thinking about buying one.
Nice video! I camp in my 5 x 10 Homebuilt. I love winter camping. I head to the mountains whenever I can, and there’s beauty to be had every single season. Will look for more videos!
Thank you!
that’s quite the good dog you’ve got there. mans best friend.
I have to say of all the vids of cosy little camping homes like these...this appeals the most because it's so modern and clean inside, I'd definitely be ok with sleeping in there.
We love it!
Pro tip- In very cold weather With your tab invest in a all the fashion twelve volt windshield defroster. This is a small electric heater that runs off the twelve wolf power plug. It can not heat the cabin But it Does take the chill off of it so you're not going in ice cold.
Great tip!
Awesome!!
I own the same model Teardrop Camper....Kept it heated with a little 1200 -1500 watt ceramic heater at -14 degrees Fahrenheit in Ely Nevada in winter comfortably either on generator power or campground power supply. Much less condensation than propane heaters.
Luv luv ur boondock camper n sweet juniper! Luv cold weather camping
Great video. I love teardrop camping in the winter.
Definitely something awesome about it. Thanks for tuning in!
Only way to camp.
Great video!! Happy to see how close you and your pup are!! Definitely man's best friend!!!
Thank you!
Mike I always enjoy watching these outdoors winder camping. These are some campers who go solo and without a dog or fire arm. I must say that while watching the video you spoke about going outside to get a roasted potato and I am in Jamaica and I about to boil a potato. I love sweet potatoes in any style.
The one in this video was a boniato white sweet potato. Those are my favorite! Thanks for watching!
@@NowhereBoundAdventures I boiled my potato and it was lovely.
I couldn’t camp like that… the noise from a generator ruins it for me as I love the silence of the night mixed with animal sounds and a crackling fire!
That was my thought too. Kinda beats the purpose.
Not ideal for me either. Just testing out my gear.
Yea I want the silence, part of the fun for winter camping and no crowds
Expandable SPRAY FOAM works wonders and closes up those tiny drafts .
Use a bottom skirt on mobile homes ---leave no gaps unattended.
Thanks for tuning in!
happy dog happy life, always been my motto!
Great video! I definitely prefer camping in cold vs hot. Buddy heaters work great (and safely) in confined areas.
Electrically speaking, air conditioning is more efficient than heating.
@@SodiumSyndicategood thing buddy heaters aren’t electric then!
@@Charles-linquest-JR Unfortunately they use propane which increases humidity, buddy heaters make the camp damp. Plus they burn up the oxygen.
@@SodiumSyndicate I’m sure you can dry out a camp area, just like you do in conversation.
Diesel heater for the win! I love how they have transformed my winter camping
Interesting video. You and your pup have some willpower.
I was a little nervous going into it, but it turned out to be fun. Thanks for tuning in!
I really liked your video. Winter camping is the best. No bugs, crowds or people. I just subscribed. Thanks
I absolutely love cold weather camping great vid
Same here! Thanks!
Same here, I did it in a Rooftop Tent with only a, sleeping bag, electric heating pad & battery bank.
Me too

Great video man. I'm in Cleveland and HAVE to get down and explore some of the great camping areas in the southern part of the state. Thanks for posting this. Loved it.
Looks like fun. My 70 year old knees couldn’t handle the teardrop shape.
I miss hearing “squeaky snow”. I live on the west coast now to getaway from blizzards, etc. But, on occasion those winter sounds are so missed. But, not the frozen nose hairs. 🤣
Hearing the crunch under your feet sure tells the truth about how cold it is. Thanks for the video. 👍
Be safe be well brother

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool video! Winter camping is so cool.
14:02 my favorite part about this video ❤
Love the trailer and the drone footage..
Appreciate you doing this video. Thank you as I did enjoy learning some of the problems as well as joys of winter camping. I have 4 dogs do also enjoyed seeing you play with your fur baby. Safe camping!
Thank you!
I wondered if you have considered a battery powered inverter generator ,you could easily power everything and then the next day recharge it within a hour or 2 to full capacity. No noise and easy to store also ,
I do have Jackery 1000. I think that diesel heater will be the more efficient option in extremely cold weather.
Thank you! No I don’t feel comfortable leaving the Mr. Buddy on all night. I mainly use it to help get the chill out after I park.
Come try that in North Dakota in winter when the air temperature is 40 below and the windchill is -70
Great Video! we have a 2015 tag, but haven't tried the sub zero weather yet, but this gives some ideas!
Cool! Thanks for tuning in 😁
I live in northern Wisconsin and I don't camp in the dead of winter, but fall, late fall, early spring are great times. The best part is no bugs.
Yes indeed!
I would’ve loved to take it out in those temps, however zero Fahrenheit is the best that Ohio could do this year. Thanks for tuning in!
That buddy heater puts out a lot of condensation due to the propane fuel. You would be better off using a second small ceramic space heater with a thermostat.
Greetings from Ireland, loved the video, those teardrops look so cosy, liked and subbed .
Greetings! Thanks for tuning in!
God, I got chilled just watching this!
Thanks for tuning in!
My favorite place to go winter camping is in a Marriott. Always warm and cozy.
😂
😂😂
I camped in Palo Duro Canyon with lows around 14 deg in a T@G. It was quite cozy
Love winter camping video's... amazing job
More to come!
Cool Truck, nice Camper, big Converter and a lovely dog so that was comfortable😍😀
A word of caution my friend.......NEVER use a butane stove inside! Very dangerous! Otherwise, I surely enjoyed the video, and thanks for sharing!
I have a butane catering stove that is designed for indoor use but it is a good idea to always crack a window when using any open flame.
I was thinking the same and left similar comment. A slight bump and a fire could start fast
Crack a window and you're fine. A lot of stoves are built exactly for it now.
Butain stoves are safe to be used inside .... The stove he's using is a backpackers stove...definitely not advisable in a camper that is basically nothing but bedding materials.
What is your issue with butane?
This was fun to watch. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Diesel heater would be a live saver!
Definitely considering it!
I wish I had a place for teardrop camper. Looks like you have a lot of fun,
Yes it is really fun! Thanks for watching
Teardrop campers are so overpriced, they look neat but are too high.
I agree with Tolbat, name brand teardrop campers are for "hipsters" now and not affordable for regular blue-collar folk. They're full of amenities and are "cute". urrrrg.
The sound of that crunchy/squeezing snow as u walked in the beginning...!
No snow where I come from...44deg C in summer!

Cargo trailers are pretty cool.
@NowhereBoundAdventures those diesel heaters are amazing. I look forward to seeing it
