They might have health issues etc. This video shows what can be done on a small budget. One big bloke and the smallest of cars. I'm sure you'll be inspiring others to get out into the wilds. I would love to see more mini camper videos. Take care
Funnily enough, I have a 2008 Smart and I used to go camping with a tiny two (one) man tent. Got tired of getting terrible cramps getting changed in the tent so I bought a Eurohike Rydal 500 this year. It is a bit big and there's now no way to have a passenger if you're taking everything with you (in fact the tent is best strapped into the passenger seat!), but yes, it turns out the tent is easily bigger than the car and with a slight change to the front you could just drive it straight in.
Same, my job is very stressful, also stumbled onto the channel and find this so therapeutic, dealing with high stress work balanced out by calmness and serenity. Agree a lovely human, I want to have a beer watching him however I can’t have any on a work night.

I camped in mine when I had a Smart For Two, I left the passenger seat in & folded it down flat before adding the boards for the sleeping platform. This made it higher up so I could have my head partly on the dash board so I could keep the car closed when I was sleeping. Less headroom but worked great without needing the tailgate tent!
I noticed that you usually pitch your awnings flat and when it rains, you get drips and pooling near the shelter. If you pitch it sloped downward from the door, with one corner slightly lower than the other, you won't have any problems with drainage. Thanks for another great video. You're always fun. Stay frosty
You just brought back a childhood memory for me when you put that muffin on the burner. My family and I went camping when I was very little, 5 or 6. I remember my dad making breakfast for us all one morning and of course we had no toaster. He put the bread on the burner, which was not an open flame but very much like a stove burner. It left rings on the 'toast" but it worked well enough. I can still remember the smell and taste of that almost 50 years later. Thanks.

That was an excellent video. It demonstrates that you don't have to spend a ton of money to have an enjoyable camping experience. A little planning goes a long way. Well done, Andy.
As a disabled person who enjoys camping, I use my Suzuki Wagon R+ as my micro camper with a tailgate tent it's a bit bigger than the one you use and it's freestanding, (although I do peg it down and guy it our for safety) and the vehicle can be driven away from it leaving the tent closed up I modified it so it can be used as a hot tent in winter with a small wood burning stove. I'm also planning to use it at Stonehenge free festival next year.
Andy, If you ever get stuck like that again let the tyre pressures down (driven wheels only) to around 5 psi. You won't believe what you can get out of if you do. An almost flat tyre gives a much bigger footprint and really improves grip. Just be sure you have a pump with you.
I love Smart cars! They're just so tiny and charismatic. Whenever I see one going down the road it looks like it's trying really hard, and I think that's endearing.
They scare the living daylights out of at the thought of driving around in one in New Jersey, where everyone does their driving test in an assimilated car park. Then they drive on the motorways like crazy in their massive big SUVs and those Dodge Rams and the ones the size that the secret service drive the President in, no smart car driver would stand a chance!
They may be adorable & charming but drive safe & watch out for the others on the road! You get in an accident your toast! As in dead! No protection at all!
That looked surprisingly comfortable. If you won't be keeping that car I love the idea of a raffle. It's a handy little city car but I love the idea that if you took trips with overnight stops you could get a decent sleep with that set up, and coffee/tea and breakfast in a parking lot and save some money on accomodation.
That car looks like it should have a key in the top of it! But very clever to show what you can do with a small space and a bit of thought. Great video again. Loving the Smart car idea 😞 Just a word about Beer52 to cover your arse pal. If you want to opt out and cancel your subscription, you can't do it on the website. You have to ring up in person, which I personally think is a shoddy move. After numerous attempts and the phone never being answered on different days/weeks, I cancelled my Direct Debit. As soon as they had a failed payment attempt, they were quick to call me. I spoke to a nice bloke who agreed completely that they were too expensive, better value at Aldi etc. The " free "snacks are dreadful too. May be great for some people but not for me. My main point is to let you know that you're telling people that they can cancel at any time- but it's not that easy. Just a friendly warning so you don't get any backlash 👍 Keep up the great work.

At 9:08, when Kent says, "I've done a few longer journeys in it. An hour or so." As an American I had to do a pause break. An hour is a long journey? I'm going home to see my parents this coming Thanksgiving holiday, and my drive will be 8 hours, minimum. My summer vacation with the family was from Nebraska to Yellowstone national park was 3 days, 2 days if you only stop for food and sleep. Long journey is relative. Like one person from the UK said in defense of Americans, you can drive for 11 hours in Texas and still be in Texas.
When I lived for 6 years in Montana that was collecting milk and bread. Back in the UK I can go one end of the country to the other in what was a Sunday run out in the States.
Yeh, like Australia. If you drive from Melbourne to Sydney, you go through about 10 countries in Europe for the same distance.... We like it when our relations come from Europe and want to go from Melbourne to Sydney "for an afternoon's shopping". Hilarious....
A lot of people in the UK think that a journey over 1 hour is long. We live in the very southwest of Wales, and a journey to visit family is at least 5 hours each way. I keep my Smart for mostly local journeys
You always impress and surprise me virtually every video Andy with your ability to try something new and different out, you looked like you had a load of fun with this one too, so hat's off to ya, all the best pal.
I would buy it in a heartbeat if I were much younger. I am small gal so I could be quite cozy in that little car. Thanks for sharing that. Shows us all how little space is needed to be comfortable for a couple of days out in the woods. All that great food made my mouth water.
lol , we've had a smart in the family for about 10 years , i use it , wife uses it & both kids do , so handy for scooting around town / popping to the shop .. never thought of using it as a camper
That was such fun watching this video. You were as snug as a bug in a rug in that adorable little car! I ❤ tiny spaces that are comfy and cozy. I'd genuinely love camping in that! The tent tarp makes it perfect!! I'm shocked to see how versatile it is for its size! Andy, I think you could camp out in a tea cup and make it an enjoyable time... love ya.
Most entertaining. And especially nice hearing natural sounds and no annoying music. Your meals looked delicious! Brought back sweet memories of my camping days! Thanks for sharing❤
Always enjoyed your videos Andy but I've just entered the modern world and bought a Smart TV, so have gone from watching on a 5 and a half inch mobile phone screen to a 55 inch screen! Just amazing.
Awesome as always Andy. I honestly didn't think you were gonna fit in that car lol. But you actually looked comfy and cozy. I can't believe how small that car is wow 😳 but it's cool looking with the orange on it. Good job. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome adventure and for all the hard work and time you put into your awesome videos. You're truly magnificent Andy. The Camper is brilliant. Excellent set up. I never knew such a small vehicle could be used like this. The hidt is excellent, friendly, and I have watched his videos before. Thanks for taking us along.
I love this! Years ago we took our MGB camping and although we took a tent to sleep in, we did have a neat kitchen set up in the back which worked surprisingly well 😂
@ mine is an ongoing project, largely complete but still needs a bit of tweaking here and there to get the optimal set-up. Already had some great adventures in it and hope to enjoy (and post to youtube) plenty more.
8:43 just wondering, if you would raise the bed platform just to match the height of the dash, could you maybe fit the pillow next to the air condition vent? That would probably give you enough space to actually sleep with the tailgate closed, so it would be much warmer inside. The space underneath could be utilized for storage, or maybe even a pull out drawer with a built-in cooking station
Such a cozy camping I so much enjoyed the entire camping the sandwich soup hot chocolate desert what more can you expect that was wonderful.. did realise the small car and space can still make wonders and exceptional camping..
Thanks for your effort in putting this up for us Andy mate 👍👍👍 It was both fun & surprising to actually see you make it work , sleeping in this teeny weeny car ! Lol 😊😊😊😅😅👍 Where there's a will , there's a way , right ? Food looked yummie to ! 👍🍺🍺 And until the next time , I'll see you soon ! 🌲🌲🌲👍
I work at several festivals every year and do long distance runs frequently,I sometimes carry a 5m canvas tent which the car would fit into no problem, I've never slept in it (yet) but the versatility of my smart is a constant delight.
14:45 "There's so many dodgy companies out there". And, I have to tell your subscribers, that I think BEER52 is one of them. You can sign up online - no problems. But when it comes to cancellation, it's another matter. You _cannot_ cancel online. There is no "opt-in opt-out" convenience as was described in this pitch. You are _in_. And you will be billed a hefty price. Only way to get out is to phone them, but it has to be 9-5 Mon-Fri when they know you'll be at work and too busy to do so. If you think you'll find a spare 5 minutes to do it, forget it, you'll be on hold for an age. Eventually you will be able to cancel but they make it very difficult and it is clearly a purposeful tactic. In my opinion this is a very dodgy company indeed. Of course - if you like their beers and you are happy with the cost, no problems. But my advice is stay away.
Had the exact same experience, including being sent from one person to another asking the same bloody questions, took nearly 2hrs from initially calling them to finally have my subscription cancelled. Beer 52 are terrible.
Agreed - it's a shame because if their beers were more reasonably priced and they didn't treat subscribers like this should they wish to cancel, they could be a half decent company. I'm afraid alot of their 5-star reviews on Trustpilot look fishy too. I was given a box of beer from Beer52 as a birthday present - only to find I had to take out a subscription to get them and which, as you described, was unbelievably hard to cancel.
I had a good experience with them and found it actually super easy to cancel. Not too long of a phone call and they were super nice. I’d still give them a try if you think you’ll like the beers, they definitely don’t seem like a “dodgy company”, they seemed the same as all good liquor/wine/brew subscription boxes. Cancelling is always a bit of a hassle but you know that going into any subscription service. There’s definitely way worse ones with actually sketchy companies. Beer52 was totally fine for me.
@@VanitasVeritas The only reason it's a phone call to cancel is that they want it to be difficult. On purpose. And in my experience it was not a quick and easy call.

A lot of people in the UK think that a journey over 1 hour is long. We live in the very southwest of Wales, and a journey to visit family is at least 5 hours each way. I keep my Smart for mostly local journeys
Thanks for sharing and taking us along
I used to really like Steve camping a lot. But I really like Kent’s camping. He seems like he is a pleasant guy to camp with! Different tents! 😂
I can't imagine owning one simply from the fact it's a 3 lug lmao, it drives me crazy
That was such fun watching this video. You were as snug as a bug in a rug in that adorable little car! I ❤ tiny spaces that are comfy and cozy. I'd genuinely love camping in that! The tent tarp makes it perfect!! I'm shocked to see how versatile it is for its size! Andy, I think you could camp out in a tea cup and make it an enjoyable time... love ya.
Micro car camping with micro meals. Love the music at the end.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Great video, Andy. Although, I don't see why you didn't just pick it up and move it over when you got stuck. Thank you for taking us along.
😂
I wondered the same thing. 😂😂
Most entertaining. And especially nice hearing natural sounds and no annoying music. Your meals looked delicious! Brought back sweet memories of my camping days! Thanks for sharing❤
😂😂😂😂
This vid made my day!!
Me complaining about my camper being too small, you’ve taking it to the next level with a Smart.
Legend!! 🙏🏼🥰
Glad to see more of your content. I have not seen much of late. Love your stuff. Thinking of the beer 52, thank you so much.
STAY AWESOME
STAY SAFE
KEEP ADVENTURING
GOD BLESS YOU
This was so enjoyable to watch, you are a truly lovely man. You enjoyed yourself because your happy person, that's so important. Lovely video.
I'm impressed with how comfy this mod is in such a small vehicle.
The cozier it is, the more I like it. This was great!!!
Thanks for the video. I really love them. Thanks for your efforts its much apricated.
Your no going to belive me😊 purchased a smartcar😊 last Monday a 55 plate I thought my days of car camping were over ut you have proved me wrong
You could just take a 3m x 3m gazebo along and park the whole car under it, then you could sleep with the windows cracked too 😊
Good for keeping morning sun off you also!
The Camper is brilliant. Excellent set up. I never knew such a small vehicle could be used like this. The hidt is excellent, friendly, and I have watched his videos before. Thanks for taking us along.
Great video! I really like that car/camper!!! Very unique! Thank you!
I love this! Years ago we took our MGB camping and although we took a tent to sleep in, we did have a neat kitchen set up in the back which worked surprisingly well 😂
Now I thought my Citroen Berlingo van conversion was a ‘micro-camper’, you’ve gone and taken it to a whole new level. Nice one! 😁👍
o, I had a berlingo conversion myself - lots of wild camping and adventures...wonderful!
@ mine is an ongoing project, largely complete but still needs a bit of tweaking here and there to get the optimal set-up. Already had some great adventures in it and hope to enjoy (and post to youtube) plenty more.
Kent is very practical with the camping and a very good cook! I like your style excellent. Cheers from Oregon.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. You are funny, clever and entertaining. Missed your vids.
Great nature shots, too. Very pretty.
I really love this, the fact of pushing the limit of the smallest space.
I like the Smart car. Every time I see one it puts a smile on my face. I say keep it.
((Masochist over here!))
Andy singing at the end was the best thing ever :D
Great video! Next time you want to toast your muffin, put it in the RidgeMonkey the same way you did for the toastie the night before.
Yes. Otherwise you are eating the fuel. I cringed over this one too.
Love it! Cheers from the South Carolina Lowcountry (USA)
See if you have just had a whole day of work and you sit back and watch this. You will feel revamped.
It's exactly as you said! This calms me tf down
I love the simplicity of this … i bet it was very cozy
8:43 just wondering, if you would raise the bed platform just to match the height of the dash, could you maybe fit the pillow next to the air condition vent? That would probably give you enough space to actually sleep with the tailgate closed, so it would be much warmer inside. The space underneath could be utilized for storage, or maybe even a pull out drawer with a built-in cooking station
Please do more with it. You gave me ideas for what I can do with my minicar 😊
When I suggested "camper diversity"... I did not expect this! Bravo!
Hi aus Germany ein echt tolles Video ❤🎉 von dir mach weiter so es macht riesig Spass dier dabei zuzusehen
28:42 😂 andy swearing
came here for this comment haha!
@@mushafuggame too😂
How did you catch that?? I had to replay it twice at full volume to hear that! Bravo 👏
❤❤❤!!
Such a cozy camping I so much enjoyed the entire camping the sandwich soup hot chocolate desert what more can you expect that was wonderful.. did realise the small car and space can still make wonders and exceptional camping..
Thanks for your effort in putting this up for us Andy mate 👍👍👍
It was both fun & surprising to actually see you make it work , sleeping in this teeny weeny car ! Lol 😊😊😊😅😅👍
Where there's a will , there's a way , right ?
Food looked yummie to ! 👍🍺🍺
And until the next time , I'll see you soon ! 🌲🌲🌲👍
I work at several festivals every year and do long distance runs frequently,I sometimes carry a 5m canvas tent which the car would fit into no problem, I've never slept in it (yet) but the versatility of my smart is a constant delight.
Buttering the sandwich maker is probably the smartest thing I've seen in 2024. Who knew 😂 Cheers to you Kent 🍻
Use mayo on the outside of the bread...makes it real crispy
That little stove is brilliant, I love the design
That was my initial worry when he mentioned the promotion. Sad to hear that's the case :(
I had a good experience with them and found it actually super easy to cancel.
What a lovely cheery man you are. I love your mini camper and delicious meals
Lol needed this to day thanks Andy.
