Music? Ahh yes, I remember music - something you don't seem to hear much these days!! Saw Manhattan Transfer at the Hilton in Sydney in the 70's (supper show) in black tie (we all frocked up for the event) and , by God, they just blew us away. What an amazing performance that still lives in my memory some 50 years later. Just brilliant!
I saw this group 6 times, & loved them more each time. I saw them 2 times with laurel, 4 with Cheryl. Harmonies are flawless, no matter who sings at soprano. Wolfsky9
New Year's Eve 1988 at the Universal Amphitheater (Los Angeles) with Djavan on their "Brazil" Tour. It was amazing. In my Top 3 list for concerts. Great show!
I'm sure that you know how fortunate you are. You were able to experience a part of musical history. I was also fortunate to attend a Stan Kenton concert twice when I was young.
Excelentes.
Tim Hauser 34 rokov, Laurell Masse 24 rokov, Janis Siegel 23 rokov a Alan Paul 26 rokov v čase vystupenia.....skladba z albumu Manhattan Transfer vydaného v aprili 1975. 1914 a Mack David nar. 1912. Spomínaná speváčka v tom čase ako solista naspievala pieseň s podobným názvom Little Man With A Candy Cigar a v máji 1942 debutovala vystupenim v hoteli Astor. Jo Elizabeth Stafford nar. 1917 túto pieseň naspievala spoločne Johnnym Mercerom nar. 1909. Frances Rose Shore nar. 1916 skončila v aprili 1945 na 10.m.. Nahral ju aj angličan Joe Loss and His Orchestra v júni 1945.
One of the favorite songs I've ever performed, during a fundraising tour! Had a black suit that looked like a tux but wasn't one. Loved the whole experience, including performing one of the parts of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, since we only had 2 women in the cast!
I so remember watching this --------& knowing I had discovered REAL talent in these 4 people together. For each, making the decision to form TMT, was life-changing, & one of the wisest decisions each ever made. Even for Laurel , who went her own way after recovering from the accident , being a part of TMT, gave her professional cred. she'd never have had otherwise. ---------MJL, 76 y/o
NO ----------no disrespect to THE great Johnny Mercer-----------Lady Jo Stafford------The Pied Pipers, or Paul Weston & his orchestra, from 1945 ; but for me, TMT absolutely now, owns this song. and, with Cheryl, it's even better. ------------------MJL< 76 y/o
Love MT...but went to see them at Radio City in NYC and was so disappointed! They didn't sing one song from their album...just a bunch of jazz songs I'd never heard. Also, the acoustics there was terrible,....
1000% Class, the likes of which, we'll not see or hear, again.
Agreed
Oh yes, pure class in spades and then some!
Can you believe this was 46 years ago!!
A lovely song, by an extraordinarily talented group. So sad that Tim Hauser is no longer with us.😔⛪
Pure Class. What a great group of professionals.

Lord have mercy Alan was drop dead gorgeous!
Oh, yeah. He was the original Teen Angel in Grease when it opened on Broadway. You can see why.
seywhut2985 yeah. Could never understand why he wasn’t chosen over travolta.
So wonderful to hear actual singing, with melody and harmony. They were great!
Over 40 years have passed...and still as current as ever.
Actually this song was originally done in 1939. This group nails this song.
I saw this group 6 times, & loved them more each time. I saw them 2 times with laurel, 4 with Cheryl. Harmonies are flawless, no matter who sings at soprano. Wolfsky9
They're better in person than on these videos
They're amazing!!!

Alan Paul is incredibly handsome..and his velvet voice...WOW!!!!
The Manhatten Transfer - Always a class act. One of the things I will regret not doing before I die is seeing them perform live !
Love this version of Candy--their harmonies are so perfect.
Beautiful!!!!!! I saw them at Fresno state years ago. They are still amazing! Bravissimo!!!!
simply silk, velvet, smoothness rolled all up into a tight ass melody. they would give all the old timers a run for their money back in the day
Best Candy on U-Tube...
Fantastic, fabulous, geniuses!
Perfection.
Class act great vocals and arrangements
Been fortunate to see them live twice. Different show each time. Great music. Still going strong as far as I know.
alan the lead singer makes me think of Tex Beneke of Glenn Miller days...
What a gem!
Loved this show. This was from a time when summer programming on TV was often a test for the fall shows. This show was on for four weeks. Loved it.
Absolutely beautiful...feels like I’ve been “transferred” back in time. Wonderful stuff!
they are so enjoying this. It's a feast to the eyes and ears
Pure,pure,pure class
Every song they do is just great.

With her wonderful voice, it is not absolutely necessary that Laurel moves her shoulders and bottom as she does !
That was Laurel

ummmm wonderfull
...and the haze of sycamor`s trees...
you can drop them in 1939 when this song was first performed, and it will be hard to tell the original from the newer version.
Alan Paul :-)
ya hes wearing makeup but that's show biz baby would be surprised if he wasn't!!!
Alan is also wearing heals.

The guy in white, looks like a Ken doll. How funny.
