THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! The Fluidmaster in our guest bathroom decided to keep running with the tank full. Guess we don't use it often enough. After rwatching your video, I was able to get the cap off without breaking anything, and cleaned the valve seal with a tissue. I somehow managed to get it reassembled without breaking anything, and.... it works!! No trips to Ace Hardware! No major plumbing fracus. My wife is happy! Thank you.
You’re welcome! 😎
Thanks for the help, fixed my toilet for $1.97 and no plumber service call!
Glad to hear that the video was helpful.

Extremely helpful. Easier fix than changing the whole fill valve. Thank you.
Thank you! Cost me less than $2.00 for the new valve. I am a older female that has very little skills or background in repairs for my home. With the help of these You Tube videos, I was able to stop 2 running toliets. One only needed the flapper replaced and the second, a new valve seal. Thank you again!

@@HacksbyDad Actually finally I found it is the piece of round rubber acting as the seal. After adding a O-ring on the back, it gets enough pressure to seal the water ...... Cost me 10 cents🤣👋
@@gerryyuam3113 👍
hold the fill arm to turn counter clock and clock direction with a hand holding under the fill arm is a key movement.
👍😎
They also sell the whole valve cap assembly, which includes the seal. It was only about 1 dollar more than the valve seal when I bought one. It was very easy to replace the whole thing.
RUclips must be psychic because i needed to see this exact video.
Spooky... LOL
Very helpful video. The only thing I would add is to turn the water valve back completely on after changing the seal. I tried only turning it a bit to make sure it worked, but the water pressure must not have been enough to make a good seal, because it just ran and ran with the water on only a little.
Good point. Thanks!
How did you know that I have that very part to replace in the float valve? A very helpful
video.
Thanks. I have a sixth about these things… LOL
😎
Attention: if you have an American Standard fill valve model 0925A (blue top) it was made by Fluidmaster and takes the same washer. To confirm, just look at the top of the black float for the Fluidmaster brand and model number (400). If you have an older valve you won't be able to disconnect the float rod but you can follow the same twist-and-remove instructions to get to the washer.
👍😎
Plumbers hate this
Because it’s stupid
Mine leak a little only (droplet) when filling, once the water hit the good level it's ok no more leak. Is it ok if i let it like that ?
Where does the water leak from?
I used new seal valve from HD and Kohler and doesn’t work. Valve seal is different. Doesn’t even seal like it should. The old one works but after every flush it has to be reset.
👍🏽👍🏽. 🙏🏼.
👍😎
So I took it apart and clean off a lot of gank off the seal, however the water is still leaking from the top, the seal looks to be in good condition, how do I know it is the seal's fault? How can you tell a seal if failing
Is it a constant leak?
It should only release a little bit of water when the toilet is flushed. This video explains the operation of the fill valve and shows the release of water... ruclips.net/video/twynH8xVdy8/видео.html
Thanks for the tutorial, you saved me $200 bucks from calling a plumber.
You're welcome! Thanks for sharing. 😎
My problem is that the valve won't open when the water level drops. I have to bump the valve arm to get it to open. I replace the valve, and a couple of months later, it's the same thing again. How do I fix that? I'm tired of buying/installing valves every couple of months. Is there a better brand I could switch to?
I've only used Fluidmaster fill valves and haven't experienced a similar problem. If you disconnect the valve arm from the float screw, does the float freely move up and down? Does the float rub against the tank wall?
@@HacksbyDad
The float moves freely. When I flush the toilet, the water drains normally, but no water flows (usually). The slightest tap on the valve arm gets it to work.
@@johnstorton Did you hold the float under water to put a little water weight in the float reservoir? a tiny amount helps overcome friction. On extreme cases i cut a 3 inch piece of solder bend an L in it and place it in the small hole on the float. Adjust the water level accordingly.
@@fredbadgett7962
The float drops immediately after flushing, and the arm goes down as well, but water doesn't flow until I very lightly tap the valve arm sideways. The float is definitely not the problem.
Thank you
