You're my new sewing teacher.I'm 70 yrs old and just beginning in our nursing home. I'm now making aprons for the other patients. Got a video for some aprons.🌹
Blessed morning to you....you're so bubbly, lol; greetings from Saint Lucia in the Caribbean...I have a tip for the corner....try making the cutout 4.5 x2 instead of 5x2....that way you're putting the quarter inch allowance so they should both line up perfectly....blessings
🤗🥰Oh Wow just what I needed, thank young lady . I like the way you explain things , 🙏🏼God bless you , I am enjoying your tutorial from Rio Medina , Texas 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing this! I just made a large bag with lining and embroidery/applique designs. It turned out great, but the lining was slightly too big and I was unable to ease it in, so I swore off linings! But your methods made this look so easy, I'm going to try it again! I plan to make quite a few of these. I can't wait to see more videos from you!
I'm going to make some of these to hold my bowl coozies in for our camper. Display it on our kitchen table. Cant wait to start my new project. Thanks for the video.
Hmmm…it seems that if you were to either: make the width 1/2” wider -OR-make the cutouts 1/2” narrower, the base would match the length of the side when you sew them together.
I am looking forward to creating one of these with my 8 year old granddaughter when she visits. I have decided to use an iron on stabilizer on both fabrics, for her project. She will enjoy the ironing and it will be easier for her to work with.
Hi, Vanessa, I am new at sewing, well I used to do some sewing when I was a little girl but then stopped, so I am kind of new at this and I love your tutorials. Did this box, I made many mistakes but made. Hope to make it again and better, thank you for your teaching!
LOVE this adorable basket! Have been searching for a good tutorial and you’re it! Awesome tutorial! Really love the look of having a binding around the top by rolling over the lining👏👏. Thank you!!
Have to tell you that I bought a Juki for my vacation home. Now that I’ve used it I’m thinking about switching it with my home machine. You’re so right about what a work horse they are.
Just finished knitting a little neck wrap for a friend for Christmas. Now I know what to put it in to gift to her. She's a quilter so I know she'll love putting supplies in this basket. It's like giving two gifts in one! Thank you Vanessa for another quick stash busting project!!
Hi Vanessa, I absolutely love this....I had a class so I am watching this later in the day...I feel your pain in sewing the opening totally up, If this was a Zoom class, we would have told you, LOL....I plan on making a bunch of these, they are fantastic! Thanks Vanessa
Vanessa, you have taught me so many great sewing tricks. As a beginning sewer, I have learned so much from you and enjoy your tutorials. I live in Keystone Heights, not too far from you, and think of you as a neighbor. You really are adorable! Pat Berne
I’m prepping a new sewing room at our vacation home. These will be Perfect for my sewing notions and thread in the drawers of the craft table. This project is the easiest and best looking basket I’ve seen. You’re so fun to watch too! I keep recommending you to family and friends who are looking for help and inspiration, both the newbies and the seasoned ones. Keep on keeping on girl! Hope you and your family enjoy a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday!
I have started watching you the other day and I really do enjoy your videos so easy to follow, so thank you for explaining everything so well for ppl like me who are trying to begin sewing
@@audreyderby5926 Dear Audrey, it has been a tough few days in B.C. So much water, flooding, and mudslides, folks trapped on the Highways. This is the worst it has ever been. Loss of power is always tricky because it gets so cold at night. I hope for the best weather for Kelowna and surrounding hard hit areas. Cheers, Kindle
I just love your videos. I’ve learned how to make so many things watching you and you’re a wonderful teacher. I am still learning though and was hoping you could answer a question for me….how do you make these boxes deeper? I’ve done this one step by step about 3 times and it keeps coming out about 2 inches high but yours looks like it’s about 4 inches high. Thank you and I look forward to watching more videos! Donna D.
I am making an entire set to fit in my craft cabinets, instead of buying organizers from Walmart or Dollar Tree, wish me luck. Love your videos, thank you
I LOVE this project. Thank you so much for sharing it. Your projects are always my favorites!! I made it last night and it turned out better than I expected for my first attempt. My only issue is my lining is too short, and it's not resting on the bottom of the basket, but is elevated inside the basket. I must have done something wrong but I'm curious if anyone had this happen and can say what to look out for next time.
I'm watching this on replay and actually shouting "STOP SEWING" at the screen as you are stitching over the opening left for turning, LOL! We've all done it!
First time watching your live channel from western Canada can you know the measurements of these boxes if you want to gift these in a small medium & large gift baskets? Thank you 😀
I wanted to know if you can add a drawstring top so when this gets moved we don't lose our stuff out of it, would it work? My bag I made last time was soft with interfacing so I tried with jean material and fancy pattern fabric but I'm not sure how to incorporate a extra cloth . Thanks so much!
I wonder that too, as I have single side fusible Bosal. Too bad no one answered your question😕 Well, now I see she wants the outer fabric and Bosal to stay together so I guess we just fuse those pieces😉

Thanks sew much! 🥰❤️
You could use your layer cakes by cutting them in half and adding 1.5" ribbon or contrasting fabric to stretch it out to 11.5". Something I will try.
Great little fabric box. Perfect gift idea too! Thanks.
I have started watching you the other day and I really do enjoy your videos so easy to follow, so thank you for explaining everything so well for ppl like me who are trying to begin sewing

Great video. Am making mine bigger.
I was gonna say something but I knew this was a video so I should have yelled louder.

U are good and thanks.

Hello from Oz
Yeaaaa😍😍
made the basket for my thread love it thanks, have you made sliding pouch ?
The boxed bottom seams don't match, because you cut them at 2" deep and 2.5" wide (5"). Perhaps try 2" either side of centre and 2" deep.
Great tutorial. I was wondering if you can use 2 1/2 binding to finish the top?
wouldn't those corners match up if the cut out measurements were corrected? Maybe a little less than 5 inches would cause those two to match up?
Cute project
10 x 11-1/2" 2 pieces fabric
Basal (in-r- form) 10" x 11-1/2" piece lining
Polyester thread recommended
I wanted to know if you can add a drawstring top so when this gets moved we don't lose our stuff out of it, would it work? My bag I made last time was soft with interfacing so I tried with jean material and fancy pattern fabric but I'm not sure how to incorporate a extra cloth . Thanks so much!
Can you use the fusible and just stitch it like you did with that
I wonder that too, as I have single side fusible Bosal. Too bad no one answered your question😕
Well, now I see she wants the outer fabric and Bosal to stay together so I guess we just fuse those pieces😉
