The 3.3t is so much more potent then the type S 3.0t. And even in AWD form the g70 still slides around like a RWD car. The type s can’t get sideways at all it’s more prone to understeer. Bottom line the g70 is 98% m340i for 10-15k less. G70/stinger are the true value proposition in this segment.

The only 2 things that bug me about this car are the gauge cluster and the gas mileage. I can forgive the gas mileage because of the price, but the gauge cluster is just weird. It looks lopsided. Genesis are releasing this here in the UK soon for the first time. I'm still not sure if I would choose it over an M340i as BMW give you a big discount here.
Hi peter. I'm Korean and I know a lot about Genesis G70 3.3T. As you know, M340i is just a perfect V6 compact sport sedan which is better than C43 AMG(not a full-changed one) and S4. If you have a chance to drive g70 3.3T later in UK, you would be so suprised that it's so good too. And it would be much cheaper than M340i even if you get a big discount on it. I believe G70 3.3T would be priced almost same as BMW 330e model in UK. G70 3.3T is a good alternative of M340i but it's obviously not better than it. M340i is slightly better than G70 3.3T in every way such as speed, transmission, handling, engine&exhaust sounds, interior&exterior, brand and space. But I'm sure that it's not a big difference considering their price gap. G70 3.3T is also sooo much fun and comfortable to drive and its' built quality is awesome. However, if price is not a big deal for you and if g70 3.3T is almost expensive as M340i in UK, just buy M340i. Moreover, at this point in time of 2021, I believe it's too late to buy g70 since it's a face-lifted model and interior looks too old since it's almost same as 2017's g70. It doesn't even have ambient lights at all. Genesis G80,GV70,GV80 have updated genesis interior since they are new models but not G70. Plus, a full-changed model of g70 will be coming before 2023. If you could wait, I recommend the full-changed one of g70. Otherwise, M340i is just the best.
That camera that appears on the dash when you hit the blinker ???? BROOOOO I HAVE A 2021 g70 awd 2.0t prestige elite and that is a lovely feature I wish I had good shit genesis that’s kinda dope
this and the giulia are my top 2 favorite sport sedans out right now. i had a chance to drive a giulia ti sport for a couple of months and it’s hands down the best handling in its class, haven’t gotten the chance to drive this new g70 but i can tell the driving dynamics is competitive and both are head turners
Great review- it's nice to see a car reviewer actually push the car, your on ramp romp was epic. Love it. the music track you choose could have been much better. classic rock or something familiar . Then viewers know what the track is supposed to sound like.
Glad to finally see these selling well, I see at least one a day (I’d only see one a month when I bought my 2019). Our dealer said it’s basically impossible to get German cars right now, a lot of customers simply don’t know Genesis even exists until the day they buyone!!!
Not sure why you hated the manual so much, it was one of the better manuals still left on the market, much better than the VW I had. My 6MT has been a blast over the last 21k miles, and it's pretty fun on track, but the weight penalty hurts it for autocross. There's no real weak points for autocrossing these or doing some light duty track laps, but I think doing an HDPE might expose issues with cooling system. The 2.0T 6MT definitely lends itself to driving as a momentum car more than the 3.3, but even the 2.0T is good enough stock to hunt down a WRX, which costs the same as what most G70 6MT owners paid (no one actually paid sticker for these things).
Please review a Genesis Coupe 3.8L NA V6 The engine and transmission are in the same family as the G70 you just drove. I am very curious to hear your thoughts!
I own a 2022 3.3T AWD Sports Prestige and my only complaint is the rotor and pads they used for this Brembo Brake setup. They suck! After 6k to 7k miles you will think that your rotors are warped…they are not! Break dust build up. Best fix is to suck it up and buy new pads and slotted and drilled rotors. I did that and now it’s perfect!
I have a 2019 g70 and the trunk is as good as it's going to get. its a sports sedan it's not made to haul cargo lol I've taken mine camping a few times and it does fine on dirt roads and carry's plenty
it is quite a bit cheaper than the germans so its a cool value. the gauge cluster bothers me how only the right side is a screen. and its extremely cramped inside but otherwise its nice

The RWD 2019 3.3T came with Michelin Pilot Sport 4, not the primacy tires. Only got 21,000 out of mine (rated for 20k), replaced with Continental DWS06+ High Performance All Season, rated for 45k. For a casual commuter these are a much better offering in cost per mile.
In a couple years I hope to trade my is350 for one of these. In red. Hopefully one day I can come back here and say I finally did it 😊 great review!
I did exactly that, went from a 2016 Lexus IS 350 fsport to a 2021 3.3t Genesis G70 and it puts a smile on my face every drive. You won't regret it!
Note, the wheelbase and staggered tire set up is almost identical, but driving feel is quite different.
@@gregwiens35 question, i was thinking of getting the 2021 is350. Does your IS feel slow? Im coming from a brz so to me the IS will feel so much faster already. I was debating on the IS or the G70. Im definitely lexus biased
DysphoriaRL I had the IS 350 and was a Lexus fan, but they haven't kept up in features or luxury, but especially power. I'm much happier with the G70 as it's even more comfortable (my wife hated sitting in the IS on long drives) with Nappa leather, extended thigh support. Don't worry about reliability. Genesis is bumper to bumper 5 years, and included all oil changes
@@DysphoriaRL dont let anyone deceive you with their comments, follow your gut.. a lot of genesis fanboys that cant afford the vehicle will push you into getting something they dont actually own. Lexus or Genesis. watch reviews. check your boxes. and decide 💪🏾
Awesome review but that front end just gives off a weird, buggy vibe to me.
Korean car makers have made statements the last few years. G70, Stinger, GV90 ... all amazing.
That front end is stunning.
You gave me the biggest belly laug!
At 10:40.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Personally I love the grill
Great video man! I'm in love! LOVE that engine and transmission combo!!!!!!! The SOUND of that engine is IT! :-D
Yessir!! I have a launch edition. It's MINT
Topher you're the best!!! Another stellar review... Hyundai has been totally dominating lately!! I really hope they come out with a balls to wall sports Coupe.... HYUNDAI if you're reading this please V8 Twin Turbo
Hyundai is ditching the V8 so that’s not happening
@@alh06 doesn't the g90 still use the tau 5.0 V8 still?
@@MJT-DA Not after this generation, which is on its way out.
@@alh06 dang hopefully they give us a 4.0 V6 twin turbo engine to replace the v8. I feel the 3.5 v6 turbo will be a let down in that gorgeous car.
@@MJT-DA They won't be developing another engine for a poor-selling halo car that will likely be in its final generation, or soon to be replaced by an EV
This was one exciting video to watch!!
10:34 I'm sorry, but that drift was sooo cool, I couldn't stop watching it
I was in shock! So much fun 👍
Old video now but just wanted to say this video provides the best context of driving the car without driving it. Well done. Will be replacing my b8.5 S4 with one of these shortly.
Driving in sport+ mode like a boss the entire review :)
The only 2 things that bug me about this car are the gauge cluster and the gas mileage. I can forgive the gas mileage because of the price, but the gauge cluster is just weird. It looks lopsided. For a car of this price, it either needs a large center helper screen, or a fully digital dash.
Other than that, this car is beautiful.
TLX Type S Disappointed, this is my new dream baby
Exhaust is stock? If so that's incredible.
@@stereopony9421 The M340i has an inline six not a V6, but yes a near perfect sedan
I have a 2020 stinger GT1 but I’ve always loved the genesis g70. Beautiful car and I love the interior
And the best part is it's reliable.
Saw one in person and boyy it sure looks gorgeous in and out:)
I really hope the next gen Mazda 6 strives to compete with this car
I’m stoked to see how their in-line 6 engine turns out
10:37 10:57 Genesis 🇰🇷 V6 sounds nice
Yeah. Amazing car
That camera that appears on the dash when you hit the blinker ???? BROOOOO I HAVE A 2021 g70 awd 2.0t prestige elite and that is a lovely feature I wish I had good shit genesis that’s kinda dope
Thanks for the video. Waiting for a pov with the GV70 !!
This guy has gotta be the best reviewer
this and the giulia are my top 2 favorite sport sedans out right now. i had a chance to drive a giulia ti sport for a couple of months and it’s hands down the best handling in its class, haven’t gotten the chance to drive this new g70 but i can tell the driving dynamics is competitive and both are head turners
Agreed. I just wished Alfa put a 350-375hpish turbo 6 cyl in the Giulia TI. There 280hp 4 banger is ok but it deserves a proper motor.
That display is fantastic
Finally!! Yes!!! G70 reviee from you.
I was thinking of waiting to see what IS500 price turn out to be, but a G70 in green is very tempting. Usually I like RWD but this AWD looked fun.
Something is missing at 1:41 :)
Looking forward to the GV70 review!
Please review a Genesis Coupe 3.8L NA V6
The engine and transmission are in the same family as the G70 you just drove.
I am very curious to hear your thoughts!
It would be difficult since it's obvious out of the press fleet. But I guess viewers in Michigan could offer their cars!
Hyundai has come a long way. I remember when they made just little econoboxes.
rad car. absolutely hate the reverse tach and the fact that it disappears for a blindspot camera. that's bad.
I have a lot of respect for Hyundai/Genesis/Kia...They know what they're doing
Ok keyboard warriors. Stop talking about how you love this car so much and go buy one because almost no is buying one. The sales numbers are horrible.
Impressive in the details : the side mirror automatically lowers down angle to the rear wheels when put into 'reverse'
just noticed that at 5:29
I like my 2019 rear wheel drive G70 better. Best car I've ever driven.
Way 2 go buddy!
Great review !! Definitely Behrman influence.
Dream car 😍
that’s a beautiful car. awesome review :)
I have a 2019 g70 and the trunk is as good as it's going to get. its a sports sedan it's not made to haul cargo lol
I've taken mine camping a few times and it does fine on dirt roads and carry's plenty
We need a stinger GT2 POV review
"small friends" xD that's funny.
great video on reviewing this car! It's such a pretty car.
This thing is nice as hell
Another appealing thing about this if you plan to own longterm is lower maintenance than BMW....I'm tempted to snag one of these.
10:38 was nice 👌🏽
it is quite a bit cheaper than the germans so its a cool value. the gauge cluster bothers me how only the right side is a screen. and its extremely cramped inside but otherwise its nice
That last entrance 😍
Man where are you that it’s 68 dag on degrees? Great vid btw!
Hey. Really love your reviews. You're one of my favorite channels. Can I ask what all the music is ... (beginning with ...There's something in the air)? Keep up the great work!
Picking one up soon, exact same as your video !!
Just picked one up RWD. This thing is a blast to drive.
