If you were alive in ‘76, you know how accurate this movie is. I was only 11, but the clothes, the music, the overall atmosphere and attitude was totally on point.
The last thing he said on this interview was pretty smooth as well.. "It did kinda stick, and I don't mind." I'm going to smoothly incorporate that into my lexicon..
@@januarybaby1063 his characters are amazing I’ve spent hours at a time with woody and he’s an awkward weirdo I’m sorry. He’s not the kid from cheers out in public just saying.
I think this was the interview where McConaughey talked about really going for it when you have a baby, reach for the stars type of stuff. I had a newborn on the way when i heard it live and it inspired me to get my masters.
I know McConaughey had a small role in one episode of the Unsolved Mysteries television series back in the day. I could swear that was long before Dazed and Confused. So he did a little more than the beer commercial.
I always tell this story. I was in middle school at bedicheck here in Austin texas, while they were filming .we had no idea what was going on till it came out. I remember walking back in on a Monday&are 8th grade wings was redid, lockers were painted and things moved around. It was nuts but Awesome
The funny this is, Dazed and Confused WASN'T a hug movie. It didn't even get a wide theatrical release, but over time more and more people watched it and it became a bit of a cult classic.
I saw it in the theater when it came out and thought it was fantastic because it reminded me *so* *much* of how me and my friends were in our prime during the 1990s.
The summer between my junior/senior years i spent wandering around aimlessly looking for something to do in the suburbs. Just like Dazed and Confused The gap between my early teens playing AD&D in my parents basement and my Freshman year in college was the dullest time of my life. Nothing happened! Just like Dazed and Confused
A lot of Chevelle owners know that phrase. Rolling up to a Car Show "Alright, alright, alright!" He even named his Chevelle Melba Toast. And can recite the power plant in the Super Sport!
Not to burst a bubble but I get older and they stay the same was also used in Breakfast Club by the janitor 1985 Matthew has gone to do some great stuff.
The first role i saw him in was a crazy truckdriver in a bill murray film...named tip tucker. It stuck with me cuz he was funnier than bill murray. It took yrs before i wasnt imagining him as that character. That crazy truck driver was my favorite character in movies.
Life in the 70s really was like in the movie, I was there and it was a blast. Thanks mom and dad, love you. See you on the other side.
That’s Nice I miss my Mum and Dad too🥲
id actually argue life was very similar in the 90's as well. No phones. It was amazing.
Graduated in 79, best of times
Wish yall the best
Yup if u grew up in the 70s u grew up in the greatest era .....

He turned out to be a great actor. Great interview.
Great storyteller too!
Absolutely
/agree. That was a great interview. Especially when you love the movie also
Dazed & Confused will go down in history one of the best films ever.
He is so damn likeable. One of my favorite actors.
He had very few scenes in the movie, but he is such a great actor that you remember him as a main character
One of the best storytellers telling one of the best stories.
I can't believe those are the first words he ever said on film... so iconic! alright, alright, alright.
Finally, recognition! I've always thought there was a correlation between the live doors and his known catchphrase
McConaughey’s audiobook is the best thing I’ve heard this year!
Ten years ago, I couldn't stand this guy. Now he's probably one of my favorite actors of all time.
All young actors think their crap don't stink. Normal. Then they mature, most.
@ObamaFromKenya Okay okay okay xxx
Just an amazing actor. One of my favorites.
One of the best actors and very very strain forward person. It is what it is personality

Wow That’s pretty cool. He’s iconic
LEGENDARY
Headbangers Ball t-shirt was a nice touch
Best lines in movies
Just when I didnt think he couldn't get any cooler... footage of his audition wearing a Headbangers Ball t-shirt.
Lovely guy, you know anyone who’s best buddies with Woody Harrelson’s going to be amazing
Yeah, the guy who’s dad was a hitman who likely was in on JFK’s assassination
Why?
@@enzoferrari88 because woody is also amazing?

The legendary story behind “ alright alight alright “ 😂
2 days after watching this video, we found ourselves canoeing past his shack on the lake in Lake Geneva- his boat boasts his famous phrase.

I could listen and look at this hunk all day. Alright!
I remember him in a unsolved mysteries episode back in the day
Great interview
I love how he put on for his city
6 mins, very generous Howard.
so proud to say that they filmed in my school👍🤣

Saw in Australia at the time mate , it was a big release over here ..?
Exactly. Howard Stern got that part all wrong. It was a small indie film. Later it became a cult film
it’s more than a bit of a cult classic lol
The nerd in the backseat (Goldberg) summed it up best. lol
Thats pretty bloody cool.
Really cool
Howard is the BEST at reading IMDB and Wikipedia files!
Except he gets a wrong

Greenlights. Great book
This is the only good interview where he talks about the origin of the iconic Alright Alright Alright
It’s insane that he’s a real person
Why
@@swordofgod2835 He’s so damn cool that it’s crazy he’s actually real
lol when he went for the interview, he was almost too clean and good-looking for the part. They made him extra sleezy-looking for the role.
“It’d be a lot cooler if you did” 🩵 one of my all time favorite movies!
Matthews first TV appearance technically was on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, Season 5 episode 12.
This movie has Ben Affleck, jason london, cole hauser, Rene Zellweger , etc. Many actors from this movie turned out to be great one.
Not to burst a bubble but I get older and they stay the same was also used in Breakfast Club by the janitor 1985

I had the privilege privilege of growing up in the sixties and seventies, Didn't really realize how good I had it🤟🤟🤟
Wish I would of grown up in the 70s, If I had a time machine, first destination is definitely Woodstock!
Woodstock was in 1969. It was the end of an era. The '70s were very different.
The fact people here are glancing over the Morrison tidbit is fascinating. 🚪🚪🎤🧡
That haircut is classic 70's . . .
This pops up in my feed while watching Dazed and Confused...............hold me I am scared.
Livin' L-I-V-I-N.
Cool story Bro!
Alright.. alright.. alright
this man is so beautiful wish i was a teen in the 70s
It's crazy that he's more good looking now than when he was young lol
McConaughey for Governor of Texas!
He already said he's not runnin

That highschool girl line came from an old thriller movie called Sleep away camp.

What movie is that? I haven't heard of it. I didnt know they were in a movie together. And I'm 42.
Alright alright alright...
I thought his first acting gig was an America's most wanted reenactment or was it unsolved mysteries
And I don't mind!!
Wait the Chevelle was his own car?? or does he mean my designated car? Lol
Alright alright alright
I really want to act and I'm in Austin Texas
Nothing stopping ya, go for it!!!
Alright Alright alright
lol my son mitchell got his name from this movie
I dont mind either.......
I think he's trying to say we should all be hitting the bars harder?
Cool interview. It wasn't a big movie. It's become a cult movie over the years
Austin, the last city with a moontower.
