It's me again Matt. Just a couple of quick queries here: 1) what do you think of rimless sunglasses and 2) what's your take on visor / shield sunglasses. I am currently debating on whether or not i'd be well served purchasing a pair of sports-driven sunglasses for that added side coverage and unobstructed field of view that visor / shield sunglasses offer. Nike comes to mind (their Vaporwing Elite model looks pretty cool!). As for rimless glasses, i am really enticed by the prospect of the feeling of lightness that they entail...the likes of Silhouette and others come to mind. And last but not least, there's the ever-recurring concern about lens quality: that, as you know, is paramount for me and i'd like to know your opinion on the lens quality of these performance shades. Thanks!
Performance is the biggest kick in the ass of all of these. Many are polycarbonate. Make SURE you’re getting nylon or polyamide (Oakley, Revo, and smith all have their own blend of polyamides) for shields or rimless. I LOVE shields for the view, but they’re just entirely impractical for an RX wearer to borderline unwearable. Unfortunately. Not a fan of rimless just because to get a full seal to the face when looking at sports activity means the lens is getting greasy and rubbing and we know they’re already hard to clean.
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Understood. Fortunately i do not need prescription. I'd steer clear of Oakley (same reason - Lux owned). Somehow i find Revo styles a bit bland. Do you know of any brands that use nylon lenses? There was some speculation that the premium line of Nike Vision sunglasses featured nylon lenses by Zeiss - is there some truth in that? Thanks Matt! Appreciate your help and immeasurable expertise ;-)
Revo is very bland. There’s always julbo but last I knew of they were polycarbonate unfortunately. Smith at least has some cool looking stuff. I’m not familiar with current Nike except that it’s marchon owned and manufactured, they could be Zeiss nylon but I wouldn’t expect it likely. Maybe TAC lenses (which are also very good).
I've never used a Maui Jim, but I had the chance to try one out, one of my friends had a pair of these glasses, and boy, I had never seen such quality before. I was thinking of getting one myself, however, I heard it was bought by another brand, So I want to make sure if it's still worth buying, and did the prices change because of this? Does anybody have info about it?
Price has gone up across the board vs a few years ago, but that’s true of all eyewear brands and isn’t really related to the acquisition. So far kerring has done a great job managing the acquisition and keeping that Maui Jim touch, quality today, if anything, is better than a year ago.
@@ThatGlassesGuy03 Appreciate that. Actually, I am looking for a specific model that I saw in a store in Lima. However, I can't find it in any online store. Maybe you know about this model. I would really appreciate it. I wrote to you on your Instagram.
"I think...that I don't know anything..." - truer words were never spoken 😂
