Could also explain continuity flubs. Just because Homer's making up these stories in his coma doesn't mean he'll remember every detail, so he could forget details in later episodes and only hold onto the ones that hit emotional chords with him, like Maude Flanders, Rabbi Krustowski, etc.
It's different from Ash ketchum's and Goku's coma theories but I can't really debunk its or actually confirm it I've never been in a coma and I don't know what it's like. But if you want my full opinion of it I don't think it's true.
There is a flaw to this theory, Characters from the Simpsons do age. Bart turned 11 in Bart’s birthday (S36 E1), Lisa did become 8 in stark raving dad (S3 E1), even though I that might have been before April 1, 1993.
I think this theory also fixes the constant Retcons that the simpsons creators has done, I think a good ending for the series would be Homer waking up from his coma back in 1993 realising that he imagine everything and the simpsons just live a relatively normal life.
Actually if he were going into a coma, it would've been when he jumped Springfield Gorge, as you can see at 0:04 that is mentioned that he went into the coma and woke up, two days after he jumped the Springfield Gorge
Fun afct in season 35 or 34 i can't remember there was an episode with hackers showing a bunch of clips that weren't ment gor the public and one of them was homer waking up from a coma so this is valid
What do you think of this theory?

Maybe just fix it to be 1998. So season 9 is non canon.
“april f-“ literally fucking explodes
Since the god in the episode said Homer would die 6 months later, wouldn't have Homer died when there vending machine fell on him?
Actually if he were going into a coma, it would've been when he jumped Springfield Gorge, as you can see at 0:04 that is mentioned that he went into the coma and woke up, two days after he jumped the Springfield Gorge
That was in a non-canon episode
@@adamgingibbins2751 if they didnt wanna make an episode canon, they shouldn't have made the episode
