marge is such a killjoy. she ruined fun

Bart is so innately talented, and is honestly a much more genuine person that the other Simpsons, and I sincerely feel he would be the most successful because he’s street smart and is social and open to new opportunities. He’s easily a genius in his own regard in many ways. He’s a polyglot, a good detective, a talented artist and musician, a good bartender, businessman, the list goes on. He’s adaptable and clever. But his lack of support from everyone and their low expectations has instilled in him such a sense of worthlessness that it holds him back, and it pisses me the fuck off. I’m sick of him always being the butt of the joke when he has a ton of redeeming qualities. Half the time he has to bear the consequences for Lisa’s actions because he feels like she doesn’t deserve set backs and he can handle it because he has no potential. Gross. Listen, I like Lisa, but she’s also an insecure people pleaser and the second she was told she isn’t adequate for a job she’d lose it. She’s not going to be sailing as smoothly to the top as people pretend just because she’s smart. She’s easily the most socially inept Simpson and gets jealous very easily because she can’t handle being less than someone else and needs to be the smartest in the room. She sticks her nose where it’s not wanted and it causes her issues constantly. She’s going to be successful, sure, but not overly so. No more than Bart would be with his life skills. There’s multiple kinds of intelligences, book smarts isn’t the only one. I like the Supreme Court justice ending for him, or something otherwise successful like being an artist. But I’m tired of them making him a bum- he would find his way. Barthood is by far the best future episode because it actually explains Bart as a complex character. Bart and Lisa for all their issues have always been supportive of each other, and it’s a good way to show that despite Bart’s neglect he can overcome being overshadowed and he values her support. And it shows that for all the moments she outshone him she still saw him as incredibly talented and having potential. But still, the way the series favors her constantly leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Bart deserves better, and honestly his ability to cope with being the scapegoat constantly makes him easily my favorite Simpson.
