Add a tarp with pool noodles for a cheap basin with this and youd you'd able to collect 99% of the used water.
Great tip! Thanks
YOU ARE A HOLY GENIUS, sir!!! A “The Mobil detailing Guru”
Wow you're a genius! I'm gonna try this on my next roof wash👀
Amazing and money saver
Good idea 💡 👏 thanks
Nice video! I actually just got a giant containment mat a month ago. Can’t wait to do a review video :)
Awesome! I thought that too.
Excellent bro very nice 👍🏼 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for this video.
Thanks for watching!😎👍🏼
Are there any mats you would recommend to catch water or any diy video on how to make ?
I have never used mats before, so I'm not sure. But i have seen some make their own with tarps
I can’t find the links to the ones you said on amazon (the vacuuboom)
Oh I forgot to add it 🤦🏻♂️. I just updated it now. Check it out now.
What do you do with the water when the vacuum gets full?
Law says it can be dumped into nearby grassy area. Grass and soil filter it out and it’s considered the safe way to dispose water like that.
Appreciate you understanding the importance of this! but with hundreds of these guys not doing it.. Why don't you ppl advocate for people to wash cars on there lawns (if they have/own the best natural filtration system). Lost cause I'm sure.. anyone paying 200 dollars to clean a metal box with wheels wouldn't have this concern but I appreciate you using this system and hopefully others will see it as well.. perhaps follow up with an stormwater educational film for the next one!
Awesome idea I will use. Perhaps a plastic sandbag behind the berm would stop the water passing.
True. But this is just to suck up water that may be slowly be heading toward a drain. This test is more of an extreme case. For most Mobile Detailers this is enough. It’s
Not really meant to stop the water completely.
Any suction loss with that long hose or is it negligible?
Nope. Works great.
An ordinance just passed this week where I live to contain the used water and to take it to water treatment place.
Hi Where do you live? Usually by EPA rules used water can be dumped in nearby grass.
@@MirandaDetailing - do you know I that is the law in California? I hate our damn rules! 🤣
Please remember to make q full detail video eventually, with such great tunes, and head cam on waxing, and washing, and in everything if possible, real time no cuts.
I will try my best but real time videos are not getting a lot of views...so I have to edit and do more time lapse.
BTW what kinda chemicals are you ppl using on these fancy automocars?
Hi. All kinds of products! Please watch all of our videos and you will see what use.
Can I connect that to a larger tank?
You mean like a larger vacuum?
Yes I mean where the water is discharged. Where the water ends up after being vacuumed. Can I make it bigger for more water storage?
Sure, you can just get a larger wet dry vac. A 12 gallon would most likely be perfect.I just use a small 4 gallon and then dump into a nearby grassy area, which is what the EPA states. unless you have different laws where you live and work.
@@JD-dw1dr if you have a Menards near you, they have a 16 gallon shop vac that also has a water pump attachment to dispel water faster and more direct from it. They also sell the water pump attachment separately, and it fits most standard sized plugs for shop vacs. Haven't tried it myself yet, but definitely been eyeing it for a little while now.
So, about those links?
Sorry this is an old video. All the links no longer worked.
Basically a shop vac hose wrapped in a towel with zip ties is what i did.
What are you going to do with the water you collect? Reverse Osmosis? 🤪
🤣 I know right. EPA law says dump it in near by grass, it supposedly filters it. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Really?! So paving highways with oil based asphalt is OK, and that doesn’t leak into the ground? 😐 it’s just arbitrary laws...that way they can fine you. Go after huge corporations that actually spell oil not little guys like me that put 20 to 40 gallons of water on the ground. 🤭
Or....make detailer’s soup out of it! 🤣🤣🤣
Why does it matter to pick up the water when you just dump it on the sidewalk anyway
Sidewalk? No, EPA law states dumping in nearby grass. It filters it naturally so it doesn’t go directly into sewers or nearby water source.
so, I will never do this. Thanks for showing me what not to do
😂What do you mean?🤔
It'll get to the point where you just shut your business down and do something else
Hi. What do you mean?
@Miranda. Why do you all have to reclaim water? everything should be biodegradable.
I explained that to a county person here that said we need to reclaim the water, even thought he chemicals say biodegradable they don’t always trust that. 🤷🏻♂️ it’s dumb. There is no consistency with this stuff. People always complain about his stuff
@@MirandaDetailing no offense but that is the dumbest thing I've herd of
No offense taken...I totally agree! I really only mad this video because a certain county official gave us a hard time about it. I told him we have been doing this for 10 years and never had a problem until now. But I think it was a this one dude wanting to push his weight around. Honestly I will only use this when we are doing jobs around new construction sites and homes because conservation people are always driving around waiting to fine someone 🤦🏻♂️
Miranda Detailing you’re lucky he didn’t fine you or may be he did i don’t know. But excellent idea because i was looking to buy one in the UK and its almost impossible to find. So i am gonna do this DIY. Thank you so much you are a superstar
He said they don’t heavily enforce here, but I’m sure if they wanted to they could have fined me. But that would be so unreasonable... I really don’t use that much water on each vehicle.
