    May 2022 Update: Everything is still good EXCEPT the little plastic filter I put in the return hose. It started to leak! I removed the filter assembly and replaced with a brass hose coupler in its place. The filter caught some bits of metal on its magnet so it did a good job but it started to leak. I do not recommend installing that filter.

    Just did mine yesterday. Getting the old rack out was easily the most difficult part of this entire job.

    I always appreciate 7th generation civic videos! The best generation of civic ever! That's why I like the videos because I try to keep mine running top notch. Thanks buddy. Looking forward to more videos.

      Aside from the D17 the 7th gen is by far my favourite generation for sedans

      crazy thing is, I have a leak again! So I'm replacing it again this weekend. Am I being smart and replacing with a brand new rack? Nope! I'm dumb and doing a used one again! Wish me luck

    A suggestion for others considering this repair: REMOVE THE RETURN LINE. It's visible at 19:24 next to the high pressure feed line he removed earlier. It's the black metal pipe pointing up then looping under the rack).
    It's easily removable; unscrew the fastener that holds the metal bracket to the rack. He mentioned that that line was getting caught on tubes when he was reinstalling.

    Thank you for your video. Very, very helpful!!! If you can write a comment on the video to remove that line that gave you trouble to maneuver. (I went throught the same trouble and ended up removing the 10mm bolt at the bottom and a 17mm to remove the line.) It would save other a headache. I really appreciate you uploading this. The only video of this kind 2001-2005 civic that shows the details! Thanks again.

    What was the approximate cost at the junkyard and what tools did you use?

    • @CarsandCoding
      @CarsandCoding  2 года назад +1

      The rack was $40 at the junkyard. I used basic sockets like 10mm 12mm 15mm 17mm and you need a big hammer and that crows foot socket I linked to in the video description Sunnex 97736A 1-1/8 Crowsfoot tool

    What is the actual name of the t-joint that the inner tie rods are connected to? My r&p is leaking from that point but I can't find a new part that includes this t-joint.

    How long did this take in total with the figuring out time added in?. 3-4 hrs?

    • @CarsandCoding
      @CarsandCoding  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah 3-4 hours is about right not including the trip to the junkyard. If I do it again I’m buying a new or rebuilt unit because playing junkyard roulette is not worth the cost savings.

    Nooooo you don't use a impact device on a crows foot. Those inner tie rods are not tight.

    • @CarsandCoding
      @CarsandCoding  Год назад +2

      I took it to an alignment shop afterwards and all good. How would you do the inner tie rods? They were tight and I hammered down the keepers, how can they get loose?
