I remember in elementary school, there was this kid's book/movie called "How to Eat Fried Worms." We watched the movie in second or third grade. It was kind of like Diary of a Wimpy Kid but this came out first, the movie at least, because it had a couple of these minute long scenes that I think were supposed to be the kid's thoughts, which were animated to look like a little kid drew it on notebook paper. Upon recollection, I don't know what the point of that movie was, like why my school had us watch it. I don't remember any sort of lesson. The kid was scared of a bully who had a ring people called the "Death Ring" it was a rumor that if he punched someone with that ring, it would inject a poison which would kill someone later, and no one could prove the bully did it, so the main kid was scared shitless of him. I think what happens is the bully threatens to kill him with the ring if he doesn't eat so many worms in like a week or so. The kid eats a bunch of worms in different ways I guess, and the weirdest thing was that right before the last worm, they prove that the bully and the ring are full of shit, and he still eats the worm and throws his fists in the air like "YEAH I DID IT!" and all the kids start cheering, I think they lift him up, and all that stuff. I don't know what the moral is, "have strong conviction? once you start something you should finish it?" Maybe if there's a legitimate reason, like working hard for an actual reward, maybe one that the kid doesn't need but really wants and he's not taking the easy way out. The only message I really got from it was "do what bullies say, even if they're bluffing. Let people threaten and force you to do stuff. Do something you don't want to just for a reputation because you won't make friends if you don't do something crazy." It might have been training us for hostage situations. Honestly, it was probably just a Garbage Pail Kids type of thing where the author made a story with a gross yet intriguing title, so little boys would read it for gross-out humor. I don't understand why the teachers and school didn't recognize it, usually they'd show us a movie that pertains to some type of lesson.

Having a million different ways to say the same thing helps when you want to emote in a very specific way or if you are trying to be delicate with how your saying something. The Japanese all sound the exact same, There are thousands of different anime with voice actors who sound the exact same, as if they came off of an assembly line or are the same people doing it over and over again. It gets boring. It might be harder to keep track of all of the words, but for the people who concern themselves with being understandable to many people, love literature, or CARE at all about language it can be a very good thing.
Oh wow I'm re-listening to these after a few years and I've since discovered Jazza's youtube channel. It's so weird that I have absolutely no impression of him from this podcast when I listened to it before but now that I know about him it's so much different.
I wonder if these guys would ever think of doing a LIVE sleepy cast at a convention or something. Just imagine the lights going out and hearing Micks do the intro live. That would be awesome. And of course there would be a man in a Sanksquatch outfit that would abduct anyone trying to heckle them.
